Discussion forum for those who had completed their IVF treatments without a successful outcome and are seeking other options such as adoption, surrogacy etc.
Hi Girls,
Just to say that I will be in Browns at 1pm tomorrow but will check board last thing tonight just in case anyone has any change of plans. Weather not looking too promising at the moment anyway so don't think we will miss not being outside too much!
Dear All,
Crazy how I haven't been on the site for weeks and then suddenly decided to check up on you all and you are meeting for lunch tomorrow. Absolutely great to hear from you all. Alison, so sorry to hear that you are still battling. Anyway I suppose it is better to abandon the cycle really early on. It must have been really gutting for you when the embryos did not survive the thaw.
Luce -paramedic training sounds great. Good Luck with it all. I so admire you for taking so many forward steps -sometimes I do feel that I am my own worst enemy as I have not done enough to change my life to something different now that old expectations cannot be realised.
Amanda - glad to hear that all the complementary stuff is going well. I am treating quite a lot of pets with Acupuncture now and contemplating doing a Veterinary Herbal Medicine Course
Grace - really know what you mean about ploughing on with the IVF stuff. Think that somehow it is probably part of the denial phase and whilst one is still actively doing some IVF / ET we all believe there is still a chance.
Becky - How is Montana this Spring? Devon, England has been cold and wet!! but today is beautiful.
So glad that some of you are meeting up tomorrow. I cannot be there but expect to be in London around 20th June or poss 14th so maybe we can meet again. It would be great to catch up.
Nick and I have now done three egg donation cycles - all negative. The last one was in Spain and if I had not been feeling so brutalized by the dreadful consultant after a painful transfer when he refused to give me a sedative, I think I would have hit him. immediately after he had put the embryos in, he came closer to the head end of the bed and said to me "well, if this does not work, I really think you need to have some further investigation". I was soooooooo angry as we had first visited him last June and nothing had changed since then so why did he not recommend further investigation before spending another £4000 of our dosh!!
Anyway, surprisingly, we have reached the top of the waiting list for a donor in Bristol but we are going to see them first as I think i need an endometrial biopsy mid-cycle to make sure that the lining is normal. If that does not work , I guess I have to face it and believe that pregnancy for me will never happen.
Have just found out my sister is expecting her second. This whole business feels like a big kicking match. Anyway, have spouted on far too long. Hope you have a good time tomorrow and maybe we can get together in June,
Hello to Jen if you are out there too,
Love to you all,
Lou
Sorry, girls, late cancellation for me. Going to see parents earlier than planned as they are not well. Leaving shortly....really sorry to miss out on the lunch as could do with it!
Have fun, see you soon - sorry for hurried nature of post.
Love
Luce
xx
Just a quickie to say hi to Lou in particular, and sorry that you and Luce weren't able to make it today. Amanda and I had a very nice lunch (fish pie and beans for me - I'm sure you were desperate to know that!) and put the world to rights. Lou your spanish experience sounds dreadful, but great news about the potential donor in Bristol. Wishing you all the best with that.
My news is that after some faffing about, the scan and blood tests today were ok so ready to go with the stims tonight. $#(*! I'll spare you the blow by blow account but will let you know the outcome, I guess in about a month's time.
Hi Alison,
Thanks for a really nice lunch yesterday, it was so nice to get together and have a chat. Glad to hear that you started last night after all the delay.
Luce, Lou, Grace, sorry that you couldn't make it but hopefully see you all another time.
Lou, Spain sounded like a horrible experience so I really hope that getting to the top of the list in Bristol lifts both your spirits.
Will post again soon, take care everyone, Amanda x
