Hi all - would love some tips - we are going on holiday this summer to Spain (flying) with our 4 month old.
I need help!!!!!!!
What do you do in terms of food and milk do you take stuff from home (on the basis that it might not be the stuff that they are used to over there?) - I'm just trying to figure out how I'll get a huge box of powdered milk into my suitcase!!
If anyone has done travelling with their baby yet I 'd love to hear about it. What did you take, any tips for making it more bearable?!
Are babies generally okay on planes? Is it like cars where they just seem to go to sleep or do their ears pop or something?! As you can see I'm pretty clueless. None of my baby books seem to give much advice on travel.

We took Bradley to Ireland last week, I know its not spain but we took his food & nappies. We didn't fly we went by ferry. Bradley is just 13 weeks & he was fine with all the travelling. We did nearly 1000 miles & so long as you keep baby comfortable & plenty things to occupy them i.e.mobile wrist rattles etc things should be ok. I know someone who flew with a 3 month old & the baby was fine. I know its a nightmare trying to pack for them cos they are so small but I think once you've got some of their home comfort things toys or favourite blanket its alright.

I know you can buy the sterlising bags from Mothercare instead of taking your steriliser. When I took Alex on a plane he was over 12 months so he wasn't on the powder milk. The best person I know who has taken her twins abroad is Lou and I don't see her online much but I think she as problems with her PC.
I could text her if you don't get any joy..
When Alex went on the plane we had just hit the run way and he fell asleep.
I am sure the little one will be fine.

Hiya, took our abroad when they were 8 months old, I took enough milk (ready mixed cartons) for the first week, and as soon as we were at the hotel found a local chemist who will stock every thing for you, I took the sterlising bags and bottle of milton. We also took bumbos as hand lugage they loved sitting on the beach in them.
We also took weetabix with us but did buy some jar from the chemist, the chemist in spain are better than the supermarkets for nappies etc....
We we got on the plane we have them some calpol and a drink while we took off and they were fine

I haven't flown with my little girl yet, though are about to fly in two weeks time, so I have been doing some homework on this area of late. Have a look at the "travel advice with twins" thread on this page, written by Julianna with a great response from DebraP with her wealth of information and knowledge (I do miss her), there is also a thread above it "travel advice please and some news" or something like that, but read the original, it has lots of practical tips (Debra must do lots of travelling with Maya!!)

We took Tillyto Switzerland last week for four days and it was soooo easy. She was fantastic on the plane. I popped a bottle in her mouth as we took off to stop her ears from hurting which worked a treat. She had a great time looking around and receiving loads of attention!
I took Milton tablets to sterilise the bottles, the bottle brush and a mixture of cartons and SMA sachets. It worked fine.
We are also off to Spain in the summer and I will probably do the same thing and buy nappies and baby food out there.
Are you weaning yet? I have just started this week and had forgotten what a messy process it is!!

Fi - I am just starting on baby rice and rusks with milk - she loves it!Although its a real mess.
Shes been sleeping through since about 14 weeks - but last night work up in the middle of the night for the first time in ages. Dont know if the start of a bad new phase or whether she needs more solids? She also had her injections yesterday so maybe it was that - lets see what happens tonight. Fingers crossed!
Have you found - or has anyone -that there little one seems to have quite radicle mood swings?! Happy one minute that screaming for no apparent reason the next. This has just strated with us in the last couple of week (from about 4 months)
Also she seems to not be crazy about being passed around lots of people either (having been fine with it to begin with) and has also taken to screaming when she sees some men. Nightmare - I'm so keen for her to be sociable.....but its a bit tricky at the mo. I still love her though!!!!!!!!!
