How did they / will they treat you for the NKC and what with? My consultant said that treatment for any of the 3 conditions I’m testing for would start after EC. He wants us to wait a few months though – so I think it may be July or August before I start again. I think he wants DH’s sperm to have 3 months to try and improve their quality and count (he recommended this supplement called Proxeed for us). Am trying to make DH read the Zita book so he totally understands the process and how it takes 3 months for each fresh supply of sperm to be created. At the moment he thinks giving up caffeine the week before treatment will do the trick! Unfortunately he doesn’t like coming to the consultations and always arranges to be out of the country, which is a shame as the consultant wanted to discuss his levels with him.

The first thing they decided to do was perform a hysteroscopy to check that my tubes are fine - apparently this is actually quite good to have done just before treatment as well :!:

I have been told that I will have an IVIG - I don't know when or how many yet and will probably be put on a course of Steroids. Other than that it is all a bit vague. When I get my phone call from the hospital tomorrow I am hoping that they will fill in a few of the blanks and give me one or two answers.

I am still hoping that I will be able to start the treatment later this month :!:

Good luck with working on your DH - I don't think men realise that it takes 3 months for sperm to be produced

Hopefully I won't have to have the hysteroscopy - my tubes aren't really involved I guess as we have to have ISCI so I presume they are bypassed. Will be interesting to hear your news and hope you can start again soon! I tell myself that we're back to square one in a way - if it IS NKC or the other stuff, I need to treat the next round as round 1 and not round 3, because we'd be starting from scratch and hopefully a more level playing field!

That is a really healthy and positive way to look at it - I hadn't thought of that :D

I will have my fingers crossed that you finally get some answers and will be able to go through the next treatment with a different view-point.

Hi Juju jelly thingies

I have been reading recent posts and it is amazing how difficult it is planning regular life to coincide with IVF cycles.

My parents in law are abroad and expect us to visit in July, they don't know about our IvF.

My mother has annouced she needs a major operation - hip replecemnt. She wants it to coincide with my school holidays so I can look after her and the family - cook, clean and do admin for the business. She lives 250 miles away and doesnt know about IVF. SHe is wanting to do it in July!!!! I am unsure what to say and feel mean trying to persudae her to wait 'till christmas or easter nect year. If she knew she would DEF wait. I'll let her make her decision, and then see....if she was near my clinic it could probably work....but we REALLY dont want to worry her with the IVF stuff. We just want to turn up one day and annouce our BFP!

Lumi

Still got loads of PMA though...this problem will resolve it's self...

Hi all,

Wow! The count down is really on for the next cycle.

Alma you should feel lucky that you know so little about everything that is going on. No lay person should know as much about fertility/infertity as you will once you have completed your first cycle.

Lumi, I understand the difficulties about fitting a cycle into the rest of your life. I have been postponing my upcoming cycle since last July...Almost a year. And of course, once again, other things are trying to get in the way. I have dealt with some of this by just flat out refusing to let anything interfere. Of course, like your situation I am not always in control. A big concern has been work ( I just started a new job). Well, I have just found out my supervisor is going to India and will be gone for my entire cycle. Unbelievable!!!

Hopefully, when she comes back I can break the news that I am pregnant.
What I am saying is things will work out.

About me...my worries....I am starting to become really positive...like this thing will really work. I know being positive is a good thing but I am worried about disapointment. I fell hard last time!! Also, this darn BCP patch itches. Is that normal? My skin is not broke out. I am so scared I am not using the darn thing right (stupid).

Anyway.....
I have been doing lots of research. I have a stack of journal articles to take to the RE. We are going to have a nice long consult!

Maybe he will give me a research job

June/July is looking to be a couple of very busy months! My clinic is pretty flexible on when I start my second round...I just need to call them on my 21.cycle day and let them know I started sniffing. So I haven't figured out when to start my second cycle :? :? :? :? ...reading all the good news I am anxious to start asap...but I am also dreading any disappointment.....basically I am procrastinating

Hi JuJu Jelly Babies

There's going to be a lot of us together which is always a good thing.

Lumi - you poor thing, I can't really make any suggestions as to what you should do, but as Mia pointed out these things do usually have a habit of working out for themselves. I wish you loads of luck and PMA sweetie.

Mia - I don't know anything about the patches and what the side effects are - if you are concerned, I would phone the hospital and check. I always think that it's better to get a straight answer than worry myself about things.

Traci - whenever you decide to start you know we'll be here to support you.

To all you other JuJu girls - I hope that you are all ok and things are muddling along for you all.

PMA and hugs

Little P

Hey ladies

There will be lots of us cycling together won't there! That's great. Traci, does your ticker refer to the earliest or latest date for you to start? I will start sniffing on 18 June so we should not be that far apart. Looking forward to cycling with you again, although I don't want to make a habit of it. I would like to try sharing 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters with you next time!

Mia, can't help with the patches. Try googling them to see if they cause local irritation and to find out if there is anything you can do about it. We still use the old fashioned pill method here and having not been in the market for BCP for quite some time (until IVF) I have never heard of them.

Lumi, I hope everything works out for you. I think you just need to go with the flow and see what happens. Good luck.

Any news yet LittleP? I can't wait to find out your start date, etc. How exciting after such a long wait.

Hugs to all.....it is nearly Friday (yay)

Well I just got back from the clinic where I had the blood tests. They took a fair bit so I felt pretty faint for a while! Little P, my bloods get sent off to a place in London. I asked about Chicago and the nurse told me there's one hospital in London that does that (I guess yours?) but they use a London place. The results will still take about 10-14 days so we won't be planning treatment before that. She also repeated what the doctor said about giving DH 3 months before EC to take these supplements to improve his sperm, because if my tests come back -ve, it is most likely to be his sperm quality. But I hope I test +ve as it's treatable.

We're looking at starting the cycle round about 11th July with EC on 8th August or thereabouts. So looks like we can have our week in Greece (though I'd need to start injections then so need to ensure we have access to a fridge!). Makes our plans for a week in Italy in August a little difficult though - I guess we schedule and book flights for end August and I go if it's bad news and stay at home if good!

Lumi, we too have told no one. I think it would have been too distressing, particular for my mother, if she had known about the +ve result in December and I'd then had to tell her about the subsequent m/c. Also too distressing for me too. Our only difficulty has been ensuring I get enough rest during our w/ends in Italy, as the pace of life there is too frenetic (they're not into relaxing at home). My DH ended up 'inventing' a blood pressure problem for me. It explained away the couple of w/ends during the 2WW that I didn't go (he told them I'd been forbidden to fly) and also gives me the excuse to rest when I need to on an ongoing basis.

I'm glad you've had the results done - fingers crossed that you manage to get some answers.

I was told 10-14 working days as well and they actually came in about 7 working days which was a huge relief. I will keep an eye out to hear your results.

I wish you loads of PMA and hugs. I know you want to get going but at least you have a date to work towards which is always a big help.

Take care and let me know how you get on.

Hi All!!!

Hope we are beginning to rebound from our frustrations and move forward and those on your first time STAY POSITIVE!!!!!

Went to see the Dr. today to learn what happened this time (-ve result :( ) and he was able to give me answers!!!! Through this cycle we did the following protocol.....

Clomid, Repronex, Follistim, Antagon, Profasi

My numbers were good all along (except need to watch my insulin) my intrauterine lining. Clomid can sometimes thin out the lining which in my case my lining was too thin to support pregnancy (We proceeded as it was borderline) but he really feels strongly about following the same protocol without the clomid....This also explains why my AF was lighter than usual.....So I officially should start treatment again on June 4th which officially makes me a JuJu Jelly Baby!!!! (I think I got that right)
3rd IVF/ICSI June 2005 +ve Connor Xzavior Amato born 10/21/05 already dreaming.
