Chlomid frustration

Post by Tessa »

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been around lately, but I wanted to ask if anyone has had a problem with Chlomid.

Most of you know my infuriating story of Dr's dragging their feet to inverstigate why I am just not getting pg. I was on chlomid 2 years ago for 8 months...... after the IVF and everything last year going wrong, they've put me back on chlomid. Apparently my new Dr said my results were borderline whether I was ovulating or not, 2 years ago on clomid.

So I was put back on the same dose :? . I was really upset with this (as most of you know) because if it was only 'borderline' the first time, why would it be any better this time? My first blood test came back AGAIN as borderline 40, so they asked me to do another the following month. I did so and the levels were very high... 71 (apparently it should be above 35)

Very ammused they told me to stop worring and they'll see my in 4 months. Me, being the not so trusting type, asked my GP to do a test each month and he was more than happy to help me out.... bless him.
I have been quite pleased this week because I haven't felt like AF was on it's way. Getting my hopes up I phoned my GP to get my results and they came back as ......5

I am so pleased I asked for more blood tests! I phoned the clinic and the nurse said she'll talk to Dr on Friday.
In a way I am pleased I can show them that it doesn't always work.... I am so frustrated that no one thinks anything is wrong. NOW I feel they will take note???? Maybe???? At the same time I am dissappointed that there is another hitch and another reason for them to stall things???

Thanks for listening, but I thought maybe some of you that had been on chlomid might have had the same problem and never known? :x Just put down to unexplained? Like me???

Tessa you poor thing. I have no experience of Chlomid, but I do have experience of clinics not being "urgent" enough to find out what's wrong, they just don't get it sometimes that waiting is not always the answer   Consequence of blase attitudes for us was that by the time we were ready for our first go (IUI) I had POF. If they had been more thorough earlier we would have started sooner, done IVF and maybe had a chance with my own eggs.

Put the pressure on sweetie, it's your life, you are in control so don't give them that power over you and dh happiness. If you don't trust them then change clinics. We did. A few miles extra is nothing - we've ended up having to go to Spain!!!!

hope that helps a bit

You poor thing - it sounds as though you're getting more and more upset by all of this. Big J put it perfectly - it is your life and you should have some say and control over how things are done.

I've just changed hospitals because I feel this one can offer us more - as it turns out they have already!!! Sometimes changing things can lead to a better result.

I was on Clomid initially but it didn't work for me (we know why now because of the NKC) but my friend was successful with Clomid and now has a 5 year old.

I think if you've had enough and want to move forward then you should be allowed to make that choice - it should be your decision.

Go girl!!

Tessa:
I feel very bad for you. I know that it can be very frustrating. I did use Clomid but it has been so long ago that I don't remember much about it. The one piece of advice I can offer is, if you don't feel comfortable with the way your doctor is handling things then change doctors. I went through a similar situation several years ago when I felt as though my doctor didn't have MY best interests at heart. So I had to pay $35 to get a copy of my medical records (boy was I mad) and then I moved to a new doctor. Also, another doctor may have better experience with what you are going through so you might even get better results.

I wish you all the best.....

Hi Guys,

I wanted to thank you for your comments, sorry it's taken so long  . I thought I'd let you know that my Dr has doubled the dose..... and as much as I think I should change clinics..... I am already on the 3rd Dr, 2 in this clinic. The chappy I'm under now, does have 2 clinics, so I'm hoping he knows what he's doing. Since chlomid is my last chance, I think I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that in a few months I have to start calling it a day! :? I just feel I've had enough of it all....

Thanks anyway

Last chance?

Tessa,
Are they not going to offer you IUI or IVF?

Also, there are better drugs than Clomid. I found Puregon to be more effective with alot less of the side effects.
