I am back in Japan now, weather is warm and sun is shining ............ Happy Mothers Day for yesterday to Barbara and Bel (and HAPPY 0.5 yrs BIRTHDAY to little Annie too!!). Yesterday my parents drive us to the airport - I felt bit guilty that I was leaving my mum on the Mother's day...
Fishing? yea, we made it out on Saturday morning for couple of hours. All we could catch was a baby flatheads so we did not get to take any home but there sure was plenty of little suckers in the sea!
MissMolly - sounds like you have a great birthday bash coming up, are you counting down to the departure date? I would be!
Deanne - good luck with your sniffing..... I think I will try to do my own injections but my sister has volunteered to help me out - I think she cannot wait for an opportunity to jab me everyday!!
Everyone, hope you all have a lovely week!
Cheers,
PS. I am over the moon about the IVF funding... I am not sure how they could think of such measures in the first place. I guess they don't know.
Hi gals,
Hi Tiger!, gee you go back and forth to Japan a lot!!, you must have LOADS of frequent flyer points!!..Yep, Annie is the big six months now, she has even started to get her first tooth!!..We went out to lunch today, she grabbed my finger, shoved it in her mouth and there it was!!, she is growing up sooooo fast!!
Hi Tiger,
Gotta love those FF points. We have the telstra visa that links with the Qantas program, comes in very handy!. We're flying to Sydney in a fortnight to spend a week with my fam, we have booked business class flights as we have shopped a tad hard on the visa of late!!
Hope all is well
B
Hope you arrived home safely Tiger. It is great that you get to come back to oz frequently, makes everything a bit more bareable.
Belinda, wow Sydney in two weeks! I am so envious. I really miss Sydney....well any city with shops actually. It will be great to catch up with your family and I bet they can't wait to spend time with Annie (oh, and you of course).
I had my follow up appointment today and now don't feel really confident going into round two. The doctor was great though and provided a tonne more information in half an hour than he had throughout our whole treatment cycle. I think he has realised that we are not stupid and that we might even be interested in what he has to say! I begin BCP later this month with an estimated EC date of 13 July. I know it sounds an age away but now it seems too soon. We are doing ICSI this time and I also feel a bit nervous about that....I am not looking at any more internet info or I will go insane! The clinic showed us the ICSI machine today which was also very interesting and DH should be able to watch it being done...how fascinating.
Enough of me rambling....hope you are all having a great week. Oh, and I am a goose and forgot to say Happy Mother's Day to Jo... sorry, I hope you will accept my belated wishes and I hope that you had an extra special day.
Cheers
Heather

Hi Heather,
Fantastic that you are heading into a new cycle. ICSI has a much higher success rate of working, so that will be great!..Didn't know that there was an ICSI machine, what does this involve?, fantastic that DH can watch this process. We got to see the little embryo's both in a catheter tube and on a screen prior to embie transfer, so we like to say that we knew our Annie when she was only 16 cells!!!..You'll be able to say that you knew your little one when he/she was two separate cells and then one!!..how exciting!
Pleased that the doctor gave you lots of information..I always think that knowledge gives you power, so bring it on I say in a process where we otherwise feel so powerless and out of control. Why is it that doctors feel the need to "suss you out" in this manner before determining that you're obviously bright enough to take this level of information on board. Our specialist loved that my DH is an engineer, (I'm an Occupational Therapist, obviously not as interesting!!!), she spoke to him at length about a number of chemical processes and gave both us us a much greater understanding of the biochemistry and general ins and outs of the conception process...
Can't wait to go to Sydney, I lurve shopping!!..I can't wait to go to OXford Street for a bit of a shop.. I love Allanah Hill, and there isn't a shop thus far in Brisbane (though I believe this is about to change!)..
oh Heather, you are not the only one. I am a little dill as well...
Jo - I am so sorry , be-lated Happy Mother's Day to you too, I hope you had a great day on Suday.
...by the way Heather, ramble as much as you want!! I know how you feel, they all tell us that we should always think positive and look on the bright side but sometime it is really hard. I wish you best of luck for your next round... I think it is really cool that your hubby can watch ICSI being done; like Bel said, how lucky are we that we get to know our little ones from the time of the conception or when they are only 16 cells old!! that must be rare!
Belinda, if you love shopping you MUST do Tokyo one day, the city is truly a shoppers paradise.
Heather - I'm glad your follow up appointment gave you alot more info. Why do you not feel confident? ICSI will increase you chances & overcome the problems you had with your first cycle. We have our appointment in a couple of weeks - seems like ages away!!!!
Tiger - Welcome home!
Bel - Enjoy planning your trip to Sydney. I also love Alannah Hill (amongst others!). I am a BIG fan of shopping. We are now going to be spending Christmas and the New Year in America. We will be spending Christmas day in New York (i could pee myself with excitement ). I am going to have to start saving my little butt off, so I can shop over there. These holidays are really taking my mind off IVF.
I am so glad that our beloved government has decided to leave IVF alone. So girls, we better make sure we all have treatment after treatment after treatment before they change it in the future.
JosieMack - The injections really are not bad at all. Once you do your first one, you will know what we mean. They really don't hurt at all. I found the sniffing to be worse. You will be amazed at how much sympathy & attention you will get from DH after you do the injections!! My DH thought I was so brave - milk it for what it's worth .
Have a great day!

FET July - cancelled as embryo did not survive
3rd IVF (stimulated cycle) - no embryos!
4th IVF 02/06 -ve
January 07 - went interstate to a new clinic and got BFP!!!!!!!
The party was lots of fun. Like you, I am not too keen on any of the housemates at the moment. They seem to have taken a different approach with them this year. I was also disappointed to discover who the imposter was - I was hoping for someone famous! It might get better as it goes on - I'll still watch!!!!

Hey Miss Molly,
Have to say that the housemates really aren't warming up for me...The girls just seem bitchy and the boys stupid...hmmmm, having said that, I still feel compelled to watch!!

Hi everyone, feels like I haven't been on here for ages! thanks for the mothers day wishes - had a lovely breakfast in bed etc etc, thoroughly spoilt, mmmm
Heather - July will come around so quickly, it will b ehere before you know it - it is good that the Dr is giving you more information this time, shame it didn't happen last time
Belinda - DP is a scientist and manufactures pharmaceuticals, so when the nurse went to show us how to mix the final injection, where you have to break the top off the glass bottle without opening a lid, he was right into it, he can't get enough of the 'science' part of it!!
Sniffing is going ok - so far have had to do the 'night sniff' at work, in the car park and in the toilet on the plane (a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do...) - but the great news is that I had my blood test yesterday and the sniffing must be working, because (drum roll...) first injection tonight!!! - who would have thought the idea of a needle in your tummy would be so exciting?????
Family is currently obsessed with BB - tonight we have lots of junk TV, ER is on, and then race around the world..... whoo whoo, what an exciting life we lead!!!!
Have a great night!!

Jo, you sound so upbeat about your progress - good on ya, what a star you are **(^-^)**. But! you provided too much info on the final injection bit as well (>.<) - ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! I am not looking forward to that bit at all.....(X.X)..... MissMolly, then again you said sniffing is worse than injecting? what am I getting myself into?
Josie, I ended up doing some sniffing and injecting in the strangest of places..One notable injection was given by the side of the road on the way to a doctors appointment. We were due the injection at 7:30am and thought we had heaps of time to get to the clinic..But of course there was an accident on the motorway and major traffic disruption, so we pulled over at Gailes railway station carpark, joking that if we got pregnant we could always call a little girl Gail..Well we did get pregnant and Annie (not Gail) is the result!!!..Great news about starting to inject!!!!, and great that DP is so excited about being involved, makes it lots easier I say!!
Tiger, the injections are only a little bit painful, they are over sooooo quickly. The most painful one for me was the intramuscular shot given 36 hours prior to egg pick up. Johnie gave me mine in the female toilet of a fabulous restaurant at Noosa (Bernados)..we had a friend keep look out at the door so no-one walked in on us!!..Another notable injection site hey!..The sub-cut injections of gonal-f or whatever your protocol asks for aren't terribly painful, I found they were lots less painful if left out of the fridge for a couple of minutes prior to injection..
Belinda and Jo, you gave me a chuckle with your tales of injection locations. I don't think I get out enough - I've been able to do all my sniffing at home!
Tiger, my experience with the sniffing has been good so far. No side effects apart from a barely noticeable, mild metallic taste at the back of my throat about 5 mins after the sniffing. In fact it's been so good I just hope it's working right!
Jo, I'm glad you're onto the next step. I'm also looking forward to starting the injections (never thought I'd say that). But I'm a week behind you so don't have my next blood test until next Thursday. When I do start I'll be following Bel's advice about letting the pen warm up for a few minutes.
At the moment I've got loads of washing to do and it's still raining. I thought that once I started working from home getting the housework done would be a breeze - but it's just as much of a hassle! Ah well.
Has anyone been to a good movie recently? We haven't been to the cinema for ages and thought we'd go tomorrow night, but I haven't been keeping up with what's on and worth seeing.
Hope you all have a great weekend.
