I'm waiting anxiously for your results and hoping that your HPT proves correct. Stay calm and good luck.

Welcome Big J
I think this should be called the going mental thread, coz the wait is certainly making me go mental! I cant believe you test so early you lucky thing. I had ET on 5th and test on 23rd.
I went to docs to get a sick note today, and her reply "Even people who concieve naturally have the 2ww you know" i nearly cried and saidyes but at least when they get a negative they can try again next month without paying £4000 a time. She eventually gave me a note for this week, but I had to explain how not being at work would help me. When this is over a letter of complaint will be due.
Moan over, still miserable
Mil hang in there at least you're optimistic! You'll be fine.

OMG I can't believe that your doctor was so insensitive - what's her problem?

She should NOT compare natural conception to assisted there is no comparison at all - and she more than anyone should know that. I don't blame you being annoyed.

I hope that things get moving for you quickly and you feel more like your old self.

PMA and hugs

Susie:
What an insensitive doctor... :( I think I would be changing doctors. In my opinion, your doctor should be one of your biggest supporters. I love my doctor. I hope staying home really helps you.... Best of luck!

Susie .. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with your gp. What a miserable old trout. She obviously has no understanding of IVF, and the trauma it entails. Try to put it out of your mind for now, and concentrate on getting that positive result. You can deal with her later .. when you can show her the week off did in fact work !!

Chin up Susie ..

Hi everyone,

So, turns out the "nurse" I spoke to on the phone Friday was actually a doctor, and she's the one I saw when I went in later in the day. Thankfully she was a bit nicer in person, but she did exclaim about how many fibroids I have (thanks, like I don't know). She told me she thought my fibroids were causing me the discomfort. I think she was right in part, but not completely unless perhaps the fibroids were enlarging and pushing on my intestines because I was having severe abdominal indigestive type of discomfort and stomach pain. (I since have also been having cramps in my calves--that certainly can't be blamed on fibroids.) She prescribed antispasmotic tablets, a stool softener, and paracetamol (acetaminophen). After about a day, those seemed to do the trick, as I was feeling better by afternoon Saturday.

But then Sunday afternoon I started having rather strong AF pains. I went to the bathroom, and I had just the faintest hint of pink on my pad. I was so sad because I thought my period was starting. But nothing came after that, so I don't know what to make of it. (Maybe the progesterone is keeping the bleeding at bay :?: ) I went upstairs and had a cry, then came down and told DP that I think my period is coming.

The pains were there again in the evening while we were watching a DVD. So bummed, as I really don't think on day 12 you can blame it on implantation cramping, can you???

Today, I have much less AF pain, but that's not terribly surprising. It's very common for me to have AF pains a day or two before my period. I really haven't much hope, and am wondering what to do next if my test is negative tomorrow. At least I don't have my period yet--thank goodness for small favors...

Sandra--the country house is in the department of Nievre in Burgundy, about two hours from Paris. Don't be too jealous--if you knew the nature of my relationship you'd probably understand that nothing is certain for me even there and you'd see why I'm especially fragile.

Susie--I can't believe your dr's office! You could have also told her "yeah, and people who conceive naturally also are not infertile and don't have to worry about never becoming a mom either!" I agree about sending a complaint--being sensitive to patients' feelings should be a prerequisite for working there.

So, I guess my only question for now is--does anyone know of anyone who had strong AF pains just before testing who still had a +ve? I guess I'm trying to find a ray of hope to get me through to tomorrow...

Thinking of everyone going through this agonizing wait... never thought it would be so scary. Wishing everyone success.

Emily

 You certainly seem to have had your fair share of cr*p - I am so sorry :( :!:

I do know that if you look at some of the other girls comments who are now pregnant, AF pains before the test was quite common so don't give up just yet :!: :) Hang in there, stay strong and keep believing in that little person.

Sending you loads and loads of hugs and PMA.

Little P

Emily Rose

I had AF pains from the day of my embryo transfer until 8 weeks into my pregnancy. I still have the odd cramping sensation, especially at night. Please try not to worry so much, AF cramping is neither a sign of a -ive or +ive.

Thanks so much, Caroline. Haven't seen you for a while. You are my star, you know? To have had a +ve after turning 43. I hope you are posting on lots of IVF sites. I think it would be good for fourtysomethings to see your story, especially since you had IVFs younger that were unsuccessful.

So, about your AF pains, were they rather strong, then? I so hope you are right!!

I keep repeating to myself what my doctor said on transfer day: "vous avez des beaux embryons" (you have good-looking embryos). I am counting on one of my three "beaux" 8-cellers to have latched onto me! :-)

So how is your pregnancy going? When is your next scan?

Hello all! My 2ww is finally over and I got a BFP. I just found out the news and am so excited.

Emily:
It still might not be that bad. I have had small cramping with dark spotting (not fresh blood). I never get AF cramping before my periods. I just assumed it meant something was wrong but everything looks good so far. So the AF pain does not necessary mean anything bad.

Best of luck to all!!!!

Mil--that's super. Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you and happy that you got to get your news even earlier than expected!

Thanks for telling me about your AF pains. :-) Mine, unfortunately, were not "small" like yours and I very often get them. (When I was 15 I used to have to get a note from my Mom after having come home from school in the middle of the day doubled over in pain. They got less horrendous in adulthood, though.) But I am so hoping yesterday's were pregnancy pains! :-)
