Hi, I'm new to message boards and to IVF (so forgive the lack of abreviations and message board etiquette!)
I'm 39 (my hubby is 34) and have been trying to conceive for two years. As I was having no luck, I went to the doctors only to find I had dermoid cysts in both ovaries and a fibroid on my womb. I had a the op to remove them in July last year where they also checked my tubes (OK) but still no pregnancy.
I decided to try for IVF and was put on the waiting list. I have now completed the down regulation part and have been on the Puregon injections for two weeks now. My egg collection is hopefully on Wednesday next week. (My scan on Thurs showed eggs growing but still not large enough for collection.)
Does everyone feel absolutely exhausted with these drugs or is it just me? I am shattered constantly.
I have been reading Zita West's book for positive thinking but need extra support!
Hi Clare ... Welcome to the Site !! Firstly, if you go to the General Forum, you'll see the first thread is dedicated to all the crazy abbreviations we use. However, if you can't see anything there in particular, just ask away ..
The drugs affect girls in different ways, and you'll see from the boards that there are so many different drugs used. Many do, though, complain of tiredness/exhaustion - so you are not alone.
Zita's book is really good material and many girls on this site work by it. It gives you the chance to be more involved, instead of sitting back and just letting it happen.
I hope your EC (egg collection) goes to plan on Wed. The scans you've had show the number of follies (follicles) that are growing. Follicles are what hold the eggs. Unfortunately you won't know until EC how many of the follicles actually contain any eggs.
Come over to the General Forum and you'll see a thread called something like "May Buddies" or "May Cycle Buddies". This is where girls currently going through tmt (treatment) are posting. When you've had EC and ET (embryo transfer - when the embryos are replaced into your womb) Little P will then add your test date to the June Test Dates thread (yet to be set up), if you so wish. You will then be in the very priviledged position of joining the 2ww (2 week wait - between ET and test date) thread. This is where we all go crazy together.
Good luck !!

Hi Claire,
I just wanted to say Hi. I am new to this board and to IVF also. It looks like we found the right place to get info and make great friends to help us! Elisa Sophia
As Sandra has said, come and join us on the May threads and speak to the other girls going through the cycle with you - believe me it helps to have somebody to talk too, especially during the 2 week wait.
I wish you loads and loads of luck with the EC and am sure that the follie fairy has been working very hard for you. Let us know how you get on
good luck with your EC today, hope all goes as planned, will check you out on the May buddies thread..
The drugs do our heads in sweetie, we are all potty here. I keep crying at things on the telly, I burst into tears at Flipper and when I saw baby ducks in the park
