Glad that the sniffing is going well, I didn't have any side effects from the sniffing either, just that metallic taste that most of use seem to talk about. Towards the end of the sniffing when I was on two sniffs a day to stop ovulation occurring prior to egg pick up I did have quite a heavy mucousy type discharge (sorry about level of detail there)..but all seemed to go OK. SOunds like you're doing all the right things..Is it raining in Sydney??, it rained here in Brissy yesterday, but clear skies today..Everything is so dry here, we could do with some more!!
The sniffing is not bad at all, but if I had to pick my least favourite out of that or the injections, I would pick the sniffing (just because I hate the feeling of 'snorting' something & the taste is yuck!). Try not to inject after exercise or if you are feeling hot, as there will be increased blood flow to the surface of the skin - makes it sting a bit. I had a time where I put the needle in and it stung like hell (never usually hurts at all). I just removed the needle, replaced it, choose a different site, and reinserted the needle. What happened was I hit a very, very tiny blood vessel. Don't be scared to take the needle out and try again if it hurts (but the chances of this happening are rare). Don't be scared of the injections or the sniffing - they are both fine!!!! Trust me!!!!!
Went out shopping with DH yesterday & got some fantastic bargains . We were looking for winter coats, gloves, scarves for our trip to New York. Everything we bought had at least 25% off!!! I had been eyeing a coat off for about a month now, and guess what??? $100 off the price
Tiger - I feel a little silly. i said in a previous post 'welcome home', but I believe you have gone back to Japan!!!!!

Miss Molly, just read your post and about your trip to New York - sounds wonderful! When do you head off? I've never been to the States but was talking to DH last night and we agreed we should go sometime. He's been a few times for work but hasn't spent time anywhere other than a small town in Ohio (where his old firm's head office was).
Belinda, I'm actually on two sniffs a day already - I guess the protocol varies from clinic to clinic? With the endo I'm used to light mid-cycle bleeding, that sometimes continues until AF (which it seems to be doing this month, maybe aggravated by the Synarel - sorry if that's TMI!).
Sorry to bring up more gory details, but I'm just wondering if any of you know of other girls who've had treatment while they've had cysts/endometriomas. I've got a small endometrioma on my left ovary and am just hoping it won't complicate things. My Dr (pre-IVF) picked it up during a follow-up to my laparoscopy a few months ago. I'd forgotten about it until my registration visit at the clinic when I mentioned it to the nurse. She said that cysts etc are quite common and they'll pick it up at the time of the ultrasound prior to EC and may drain it during the EC procedure. I noticed on some of the other threads that it can possibly delay treatment and I'm hoping it won't be too much of a problem??

You're right, the protocols do seem to vary quite a bit from clinic to clinic, I should have said that I actually started on two sniffs per day, one in the morning and one at night, but towards the end of the sniffing it changed to two in the morning and two at night..I've never had the endo mid cycle bleeding, but certainly had lots of endo adhesions etc at the time of the IVF cycle, was picked up on laproscopy a couple of months prior to commencing the cycle. My specialist felt that this wouldn't at all get in the way of the cycle and in fact said that women with endo have a relatively high IVF success rate. I haven't had experience with cysts, maybe some of the other women will have?
Miss Molly, when do you head to New York??, I'm like Deanne, I would lurve to go there. My advice is go BEFORE you have you're beautiful babies. Travel seems that much harder now with a six month old (I'm getting nervous about my flight to Sydney next Saturday!!!)..You must give us all the gory details re. shopping adventures...
Deanne, more gory details? Bring it on!!!!!! I am in the same boat with you re cysts and endo bits. I am forever worrying about complications I might face because of them. You might want to share this with others in the general forum too?
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, home time soon!
Thanks Belinda. And Tiger, my Dr did also say that IVF has a pretty good success rate for women with endo. I was also relieved when he told us that the endo doesn't appear to pose any greater risk of m/c during IVF (unlike with natural conceptions).
I guess I'll find out more about the endometrioma when they do an ultrasound, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Till then I think the less I worry about the better.
Same goes for you too Tiger! Try not to worry, remember we're giving ourselves a good chance of beating the endo problems by getting the treatment underway.
I've got another question - how many of you are having/had a blastocyst transfer? Our Dr has recommended that we do (hoping of course we get that far). I've read the info on this site about blastocysts (which was more useful than the stuff in our IVF booklet), but was just curious about how common it is in Oz?
Cheers

Deanne, I know blasto transfer is a big thing in Sydney, I know a couple of other girls on this site from Sydney over the years have had the transfer done at blast stage with excellent results (so excellent that the two I know of both got pregnant and I haven't seen them on this site for ages!!)..I think the only down side is that sometimes the embryo's don't survive until the blasto stage, so the risk is that you may not get to embryo transfer, or may not have any embies to freeze..The success rate seems amazingly positive though, so certainly worth some consideration..Not sure whether it's a big thing in the UK, might be worth posting a general thread about this one to see if any of the British chicks are more experienced in this area?
Tiger, I don't know much about cysts etc and their effect on IVF, my very vague understanding is that they can secrete some kind of hormone that can potentially interfere with the IVF process..could be entirely wrong on this one??, there are lots of wise women on this site though, maybe they could give you a better understanding of this situation..
Hope you are all well. Deanne, I had a cyst aspirated prior to my IVF cycle. This was picked up on my first visit to the doctor and I think the only reason he decided to aspirate was because he was going in for a look around anyway and because of my age he wanted to start my treatment ASAP. If I had been younger he would have just monitored it over a couple of cycles to see what happened. He had suggested that the cyst might be an indication of PCOS and I could be at risk of OHSS. I didn't actually have any of the symptoms associated with PCOS so I found this a bit odd. I was also at the other end of OHSS....4 eggs!
Glad to hear all the sniffing and injecting is going ok. I too preferred the injecting to the sniffing. The pen is really easy to use and the needles are so tiny that I couldn't feel a thing.
MissMolly. NY...wow. I am so envious. I have a sister living in Connecticut (about 2 hours out of New York) and I have been trying to get DH to leave the country and visit for years. If you want any tips and tricks let me know and I will get the low down from my sister.
Belinda, I hope your flight goes very smoothly and that Annie is a perfect angel. Enjoy the break and have fun catching up with your family.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all going well with your sniffing and injections and waiting.
Pauline, how did you go on Friday with your scan??? Donna had her scan and had 7 good eggs. She has her trigger injection tonight (Monday 16) and EC on Wednesday morning. Then see how it all goes for Friday 20th. Is Friday too early??
How exciting. Great to hear that there are 7 follies and I hope everything goes smoothly for Donna on Wednesday and the days that follow. Friday is not too early. Most clinics do 2 or 3 day transfers so this fits right in.
Send Donna my best wishes and I will keep my fingers crossed that everything goes to plan.
Cheers

Barbara I've got my fingers crossed for Donna this week too - hope everything goes well.
Heather, thanks for the info on your cyst and how it was treated. There seem to be so many little hurdles we all have to jump along this road!
Belinda, it's been raining on and off for the last few days in Sydney so remember to pack your wet weather gear. Winter is definitely on its way - we had the heater on for the first time last night Still, it's a good excuse for staying indoors and watching telly. Survivor final tonight, yay!
Cheers

Bi Barbara, that's fabulous news re. Donna, wish her all the best for egg collection and for embie transfer. As Heather as said, most transfers up here in Qld are done two to three days after pick up and fertilisation, so Friday is just perfect!..Please let us know how her pick up goes!!
Deanne, will definately pack some cold weather clothes for Sydney. We were down in April and drove down with bags overflowing with our Brissy wardrobe of shorts and tee shirts..We had to shop (hate that!!!) for some warmer clothes for us and also for Annie, she was just frozen at night poor little sausage!.
Deanne,
Yep!!!!..I FINALLY worked it out!!!, really don't know why I couldn't get it.. but got there eventually...I went to ticker factory, seemed to be foolproof..even for me..
