A short Cycle?

Post by dee35 »

Hello Ladies

I am new to this. Only found the site a couple of weeks ago and have had trouble registering and logging on.
But I am here now!.
I have had one cycle of IVF which failed last week. Didn't feel like carrying on but we have got to keep trying no matter how hard it is haven't we?.
I have had great comfort from just reading your messages and reading how you all support each other
Have felt like I have been going mad the last three weeks.

I phoned my clinic to ascertain what the next stage of treatment is. They have suggested doing a short cycle which involves leaving out the bureslin and going straight on to Gondotrophins (spelling?!!!)
Has anyone else tried this?

Dee

A short Cycle?

Post by Annie »

Hello Dee35,
I failed for the second time really recently, also, its not the best of times is it! I'm sorry I dont know any thing about the shorter cycle but I would be interested in knowing what you find out from your clinic. I find it really hard to get time to discuss alternative options at my clinic . We made an appointment to speak with a consultant but cant be seen until mid-december. We managed to speak to a doctor attached to the clinic just before our last try but got only vague answers and some inaccurate information! Any way all the best and keep trying.... I am!
bye bye Annie

A short Cycle?

Dee - sorry not to have posted sooner, and abot your unsuccessful attempt. I'm desperately trying to remember but I know someone in the summer was posting about doing a short cycle, and how exciting it was (don't remember the outcome though). But basically its as you describe - you don't do down-reg at all but start with the stims drugs at the beginning of your cycle (presumably about when a/f arrives) and do the normal 10-12 days stimming and then you're on e/c. Sorry to be vague - if you look on the old board at around May/ June you might find something, or maybe someone else who's been posting since then might have a better memory than me.

Good luck whichever way you go at it!

Alison
