Hi Andy

that's great news. I was at Holly House for my first ever consultations, when we lived in E17, they were going to start IVF with me in 2001 but then I had slipped 2 discs and they had become chronic so I had to be operated, and then we moved down to Sussex. A shame as they are wonderful there, really helpful and patient.

I am glad you are being so +ve and keep fingers crossed that the NHS comes up trumps for you both

Love to you both

Hi Andy and Divina .. It looks like today's meeting has been positive and has given you renewed strength.... That's good. I hope Dr Beer's clinic will give you some info / a way forward.

I haven't heard of this ruling re the free IVF you speak of. In fact, we were told that if we did pay for any private cycles, our NHS cycles would be reduced by the same amount.

Good luck

Hi Andy - I've had a conversation with my GP and she said that there is an option for one free IVF treatment which is to be inforced by April 2006. It is not dependent on failed cycles but is subject to age limits.

She said that it depends on your surgery as to when they are phasing this in.

Well - at least that was my understanding of it all. She is looking into whether or not you can pick the hospital you have the treatment done at or whether it has to be an NHS proposed clinic.

I know you are seeing your own GP tomorrow, but I thought this might help a bit.

Good luck to both of you.

Hi Sand,

If I was you I would look into this as he showed us the paperwork concerning it. To my knowledge it has not been in place for long.

LittleP Hi! From what I saw the local NHS authority sub-contracts it out to an IVF clinic of their approval, you have no say in it but it's normally a clinic which is in your own county.

I will let you know what our Dr. says tomorrow.

Hi all :)

As some of you will know this is Phil - Jens (Davinas) hubby - Andy354 was just a made up name :)

Anyway I am bringing this to the top because those of you who are down big time with failed attempts can read this. In all honesty my wife and I really thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel for us last summer and now here she is having done IVF (attempt number 5 or call it 6 if you include a failed egg thaw) in November and is now preggie at 12 weeks with twins! To add the icing on the cake, although too late, she got a letter through a few weeks back granting NHS funding at the clinic we had it all done at Holly House! lol :)

The moral is... Always keep the faith :)

Hi Sands,

Thanks for the interest - We have the 12 week scan for Downs in London on Thursday morning. My wife is a bit worried about that as they can also spot many other things. Despite her being past the first major hurdle of 12 weeks she is still not out of the woods yet!

We thought the worry would ease a bit after her 6 week scan for the heartbeats but it seems it's never-ending! I am sure it will continue but the main thing is to remain happy :)

I read some peoples stories here and it makes my heart so sad at times. I know exactly how these people feel with failed attempts and I guess I am forever trying to push home the point that there is always light at the end of the tunnel :)

Take care

Phil
