Now, please dont shout at me, BUT I was thinking my actual test date is Saturday, but as the clinic dont do Saturday tests I have to test Monday. So why cant I do a HPT on Saturday? I want to know the result first, I dont want all the nurses at the hospital knowing first, then telling me when I phone up. As I always knew I couldn't concieve I have never done a HPT, and I've decided I want to. Even if I dont do it Sat I will def do one, even if its 2 minutes before my results get back. I know I shouldn't but I just wonder what its like to hold that stick in your hand and wait.
Am I crazy? What do you all think? I'm not doing ICSI again, so its my last chance ever. (I may do FET with my frosties though, dont know yet)
Thanks

Susie ... If your test day is really Saturday, I can't see the harm. It seems many of us these days have to do hpts, rather than go in for bloods - so I can't really see any difference. Now I know that's the answer you wanted, but it's really what I'm thinking... !

Susie,

I agree with Sandra. I understand what you're saying about hearing it from strangers first. I think you should do what makes you most comfortable. It's hard enough going through this--we need to do it the way we can manage it.

Keeping +ve thoughts for you in any case!

Hi Susie

Don't know if this helps but my test date was on a Sunday and my clinic told me I could do a HPT on that day as they couldn't do bloods. Good luck with the test and I hope you get a fabulous result.

Cheers

Susie

Like the others I can't see why there would be any problems - afterall it is your official test date anyway :D

I know what you mean about seeing it for yourself so if you're happy to do it, then go for it and best of luck to you.

Fingers crossed and PMA

Susie

I felt the same as you I wanted to know first I didn't want the added stress of going to the doctors. My hospital said it was ok to do a HPT - use clear blue (you can get them in Boots). This test was good enough for them and I didn't go to the hospital at all

If Saturday is your test day I can't see the harm either - plus listen to Sandra she is a very very wise woman

Good luck to you both - keep in touch

Love and hugs

Julie ... I don't know about that ?!?

I need help please :

I posted yesterday saying I had this soreness around my rectum. This morning that's gone, but I'm now itchy around rectum/vaginal area. I rang the hospital as thought may have infection/thrush.

First the nurse told me to go to the chemist and ask if I can use Canesten cream/pessaries. Then she suggested I do a hpt now, then I'll know if I need to be careful. She said the result should be strong enough to show now. I asked her if it's negative, should I do another tomorrow and she said I could do another on Friday. So what's the point ?? Aagghhh !!

I'm not going to do anything 'til df gets home in about an hour. I think I shld just toddle off down to the chemist and ask their advice about Canesten - but now this hpt thing is in my head ????

Sandra

 I can't believe this - it's not really a proper answer they're giving you is it!!! :?

Could she not just tell you whether you can use Canesten or not - what is wrong with giving you the answer to that question :x

I agree with you waiting until your DF gets back and I would do the same, I would ask the pharmacist whether or not you can use the cream when you suspect that you might be pregnant.

If you can't use the cream, could you speak to the doctors again and explain that you would rather not take the test early and can they suggest an alternative cream that is harmless during pregnancy - surely they would be able to give some advice on that. :)

Big hugs Sandra - I really hope that you can get this sorted quickly. You don't need all this cr*p at this time.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Sandra - I had a bit of the same problem during my 2WW...but the itching/soreness (a little bleeding) was only around my butt...I just put some cortisone cream on it and it went away.

But in your case I agree with LittleP. On a positive note - I read that thrush can be a pregnancy sign!

Thanks Little P and Traci .... (Traci - that sounds a little reassuring !) .. We've decided that we really don't want to do the hpt until Friday, unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

I've been down to the chemist and the pharmacist has said I can't use Canesten/need to see a doctor.

I'm going to ring the GP practice and speak to one of the nurses there for advice. I don't want to ring the hospital back unless I really have to. The nurses finish surgeryat 11.30, so I'll ring then .. Maybe a little natural yoghurt might do the trick - surely that can't hurt ?

Sandra

Just a thought:

Cranberry Juice (sugar free) is very good for thrush and also safe to drink during pregnancy so maybe a glass or two of that would help. :?

Good luck and hope you get things sorted quickly.
