Don't worry, I can totally relate to that feeling - I was convinced that I would muck it up, but honestly you will be absolutely fine. A bit of advice I will give you is try and stay relaxed whilst you're doing it, it helps
Injecting is easy - really don't worry! I was shaking with excitement when I dropped the bottle! a nurse will show you what to do. The first time alone is scary but it's fine. Lots of girls here had partners do it for them. I only needed to inject in my thigh and I prefer to stay in control

Is anybody using Puregon and if so how many iu? My doctor has upped my dose to 450iu and it seems like alot. It is going to take an age to push that through that tiny needle! I would be interested if anyone else has had their dose increased to this level and if it made any difference.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Cheers

Traci,
I know what you mean about bad af cramping. I'm surprised you haven't outgrown that by now, though. I had it so bad I had to miss school when I was a teen, but it stopped when I was grown. Now that I think about it, they stopped when I went on the pill to get married. Hmmm.
Anyway, I hope you do find a way to get rid of them. They are the worst. And now that I know more than I did then, that is what labor pains feel like. If you can handle severe af cramping, you can handle labor - same thing.
Before I had children, I thought the pain women felt during childbirth must surely came from your vagina ripping open. You actually don't feel anything down there. The pain is all in your lower abdomen (sometimes your back hurts too). Please excuse if you already figured that out. It was a surprise to me.
Lumi, not long til INJECTIONS!!! I'm looking forward to it too. Are we weird or WHAT? Mine start on the 23rd.
Gail,
It was a bonding experience for my dh to give me mine. He felt very involved and we said a little prayer before each injection for the Lord to keep me safe and give us healthy babies.
We were actually in an argument right before my HCG shot (the BIG one at the end) and we weren't speaking. It was very odd indeed to bare my hip and bend over the kitchen counter and trust him (when we were so mad at each other) to give me that shot with that HUGE needle. I was sweating bullets. He was very gentle and we made up shortly after.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
My cycle next time is a little more May/June than June/July, but I will be testing in June. Actually, we just had a talk today and we may (heavy sigh) actually "bank" the embryos AGAIN! He's killing me with this strategy, I swear!!! It depends on how many we get. His mathematical mind has it all figured out - very "male" logically of course.
Anyway, I may actually have to wait, yet one more round before transfer! UGH!

5th EC/ET = May 06
Hi Randa, Good to know about labor...I will definitely be a pro!! The pain I go through every month is unbearable. In high school I would also go home once a month, the nurse would see me walk through the door and say'ok I am calling your mother'....then the docs had me on codeine which just knocked me out. With birth control the cramps went away...but I went off BCP about 4 years ago and I am back to dying every month. When I was working it was extremely embarrasing..my secretary would update my calendar a year in advance on what day in the month I would be out sick! I started taking literally handfuls of advil...but about a year ago I figured this wasn't helping my body...so now I just suffer.
This morning AF hit at 5am with a vengeance (somehow you forget really how bad it is until she shows up again)...it is not as bad as usual...with about 100% pain, I am at about 95%..the 5% decrease I can attribute to the acunpuncture session yesterday....so looking forward to my next appointment! OK enough of my pain ranting...can you tell AF has arrived??
Heather - I had 150ie the first round with 6 follies...somehow my doc is satisfied with this and my 2. protocol is also 150ie. Synarela is doubled. Docs logic is my LH was under pressure since day 5! Therefore the puregeon and LH were 'fighting' each other resulting in less follies as expected. So with round 2 we hope to keep the LH under lock&key so the Puregon can do it's thing. 450ie seems like a lot to me ...I hope you don't have to pay for it yourself...puregon is very dear in price.
Tracii, you and I are on almost identical cycles! My AF arrived this morning. Knew it was due as had the most incredible pains y’day morning about 430pm and 2 spots appeared last night (I never get spots except when AF is due). Stomach & back pains this morning announced the arrival. Am glad it’s here though as means I can more or less schedule our travel for July and end August knowing I’ll be starting injections in 7 weeks’ time (assuming everything is OK with blood tests). Also handy that I go to my first acu session tonight as I gather this guy likes to follow your cycle so it’s good to go there on Day 1.
Dancola, Have a great session tonight - I think you will be pretty amazed and I agree going on the 1. day can tell him alot about your body and cycle (esp. the blood flow issue). Funny I was just looking at the calendar trying to figure out our next attempt. I could start sniffing on 8 June (CD21) but I would like to go through one more AF (am I crazy???) and see the acunpuncturist a couple of more times. So depending on DH's schedule we are looking at 6th July to start sniffing. But I also need to check with the clinic cuz they close down (german summer holiday) for the month of august...so need to verify when the last EC/ET can be scheduled (I don't want to be rushed or put my schedule in jeopardy).
Yes, it'll be the 6th July for me too to start the Buserlin injections (assuming June's AF is regular). Our clinic wanted us to wait another month to give DH's sperm a chance to improve a bit and to be honest I could do with the break. We have DH's brother's wedding in June, which is a major family occasion and not something I would want to attend feeling tired or bloated from the drugs. I want to 'enjoy' June and hopefully, like you, give the acu time to work.
If all goes to plan, we'll be 'done' by 17th August so that we can then have the last week in Italy as holiday.
Hi! I am new here. I am due to start my 1st IVF in June (waiting for mensus). I am 34, dh 39. We are doing ICSI and AH. I'm a little nervous about all of this (especially the shots!, lol). I'm also concerned about the side effects of the meds. I'm pretty moody without meds, can't imagine what I will be like ON them. lol
Hope to chat soon.
