Hi Sarah

How's the pregnancy going? Hope you are feeling well!

I just wanted to ask you about your FET and what medication they gave you to sustain it.
Last time I wasn't given anything - should be doing it next week. Also what did you do during your 2ww - I know we are all different but any tips would be good!

Thanks
Lissa
x

FET - Sarah30

Hi Ya Lissa

That's excellent News!!!

I'm fine thanks, am 6 weeks pg tomorrow - can't believe it still, it's not quite sinking in. Haven't really had any symptoms yet except sore boobies!

When I had my FET, on the day of et (day1) they gave me an HCG injection which apparently increases the chances of implantation and then I had a second HCG jab at home on day 6 and that was it.

I had et on the monday and travelled home the same day (it took about 20 mins to put in (coz I've got a wonky cervix) and then I lay for about 20 mins and then went home (lying down in the back of the car!) When we were nearly home, we stopped at KFC for dinner so was up and about by then. Monday night and Tuesday all day just lay on the sofa or in bed and then on Wednesday (day 3) I went back to work and really just carried on as normal (just avoiding lifting and straining and didn't really do much housework, just odd things). Still went for walks with the dog and visited friends and generally tried to keep busy. On my first attempt, I spend 2 weeks on the sofa, was bored out of my mind and the time seemed to stand still - wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't do it again myself.

For the first week, I didn't feel anything at all until about day 8 when I started getting cramps (exactly like a/f pains). I felt like a/f would arrive at any moment. Thought it was a bad sign at first but generally I think it's a good sign - well it worked for me, beck and louise anyway!! All who had pains.

I would definatley phone your clinic and ask about the HCG injection and if they're not giving it to you, I'd ask why not because I've read that the HCG improves the changes of implantation.

Oooooh, I hope it all goes well and you end up with a bit +++++++'ve.

Keep posting, I'll be eager to see how you get on. Any more questions, just fire away. I'm sure some of the others will add their 2ww experiences too.

lots of love good vibes for next week!!!

sarah :o)

Sarah,

For my next FET (probably in Jan/Feb) I asked my consultant yesterday if having a HCG injection would increase the chances. She said that injections of this kind are only given if I'm in a complete drug induced cycle (ie. taking drugs, go for ec, then 2 days later have et), and not when doing FET in a natural cycle ?????????

What do you think???????

Hello Nic

I'm no expert and only know what my docs have told me. I had no other drugs - just the HCG on its own because it increases the chance of implantation.

Also, I read (on here I think) that not many people are given HGC on a full drugs cycle with ec etc because it increases the changes of OHSS so most people have the pessaries (which is what I had on my first whole cycle).

It's all very confusing and I expect there are many differing medical opinions.

Are you NHS Nic? Just wondering whether they don't give things out willy nilly unless you're paying. I had to go privately so have paid for everything. Just a thought.

I suppose you could try and phone a different clinic and ask their advise if you're worried?

Maybe it also depends on your circumstances, what's wrong with you etc.

Read this bit that on this website and then maybe take it up with your clinic if you're worried;
http://www.ivf-infertility.co.uk/ivf/st ... r>
Hope this helps.

Sarah :O)

Sarah,

Thanks for the info. I'm having private treatment, and it's dh who had an unsuccesful vasectomy reversal, hence us having to have ICSI now, so I'm all okay. I developed OHSS when I had ec back in March, and therefore missed a fresh et, went straight for fet earlier this month, but the consultant did not give my OHSS as a reason for not giving me any further drugs to help with the fet, even though I did ask about the HCG jab. They did ask me though what we'd do if all our frozen embies failed? Would we go thru another cycle again?? Why did they ask that I wonder, I was like give us a chance with the frozens ones we have left will you?? It will be interesting to hear what Lissa gets told this afternoon .........

Hi girls

Went for my scan yesterday and will hopefully do et on Thursday/Friday next week! Just waiting for the LH surge.

I asked about HCG injections and they said these were to make you ovulate so then they can put the embryos in. I mentioned that you had an injection the night before and then another on Day 6 of ET. The nurse couldn't work out what they had given you as she said that they would never give and HCG injection during 2ww as this would make you miscarry. Very confusing.

How are you both doing?
lol
Melissa
x
