Chrissy

Hi and welcome to the site - you are officially a JuJu Jelly Baby :D

It is all a bit daunting when you haven't been through it at all so anything you want to know just ask :D You will be fine with the injections, I was terrified of them at first, but once you get used to it I can honestly say it just became a part of my daily routine.

There are several side-effects but it does depend on which drugs you are using. You never know they might have the opposite affect on you :D

Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are getting on.

PMA and hugs

Little P

Chrissy - Welcome!! I actually mellowed out on the downregging phase. Everyone reacts differently - but just remember it is all for a good cause

Dancola - 17 August would be perfect for us as well - my b-day is 19 Aug and DH on 20 Aug....what a fantastic b-day present a BFP would be!! :D :D :D

Thanks so much for the welcome! I love the JuJu Jelly Baby name. Very cute. :D

I too am terrified of needles. DH will have to give me all injections because I know I won't be able to do it (yeah, I'm a big baby, lol).

I will start BCP's as soon as AF arrives then start Lupron injections 2 weeks later. I know that I will also take Tetracycline, Medrol and Progestrone but I am unsure of what the Stim shots are. Are there different ones? I didn't think to ask this question when I was at the Dr.'s office. If they told me, I don't rememeber (all that info at once is a little daunting to say the least).

Hopefully my anxieties will lessen soon...it's just the THOUGHT of those needles! lol

Thanks so much! I think I am really going to enjoy being here.

Hugs, Chrissy

Like me you have a wonderful DH who is prepared to deal with the injection side of things so try really hard not to worry about too much. I know easier said than done :?

There are so many different choices of drugs available, it isn't possible for me to say which ones you will be using - for downregging I'm on Buserelin, then for stimming I think it will be Gonal F but they will make a decision as soon as AF arrives :D

Just take each days as it comes - stay strong and full of PMA

Oh yes, dh has been great thus far and is willing to do anything to make this easier on me. I couldn't have asked for more.

I went to my IVF folder and found a copy of the meds that will be ordered (hubby is also dealing with this, as I don't like dealing with the insurance part of it, seems fair since I have to get the shots, lol). I see that Gonal-f and Repronex are on it in addition to the Lupron, Tetracycline, Medrol, Progesterone and Novarel (HCG). I think I need to do some research into what these meds are for and what to expect from them (side effects).

I think I got so caught up in wanting to get pregnant that I walked blindly to this point. Now I am starting to wonder about things. I was looking at the end result, not the road that leads to it. I don't question what my Dr. intends for me, I just want to be informed.

Thanks so much.

Funny how some people have a huge list of meds to take and others not. Like LittleP, I just take the Buselerin (or Suprecur) to downreg, and then the Gonal-F for stimulation. I got on fine with these, no real effects other than tiredness and bloating. The bloating could be down to all the water we need to drink though. I think one side-effect no one tells you about is the water and the loo-trips! Especially if you're not used to drinking 2 lits a day, you'll find that you need to plan your weekends carefully to make sure you have access to a loo! Once you drink that amount regularly though, your body gets used to it and it's not so bad. I did my injections myself without any probs, but found I bruised very easily and though I alternated thighs, they weren't pretty and I won't want to be showing off my thighs on the beach in July when I start!

The nurse at the Dr.'s office did tell me to start increasing my water intake. And yes, I go a lot. lol I am also taking prenatal vits. I wonder if the extra meds I will be on have anything to do with my thyroid disorder.? Yes, on top of everything else, I have a thyroid disorder. lol

What does downreg mean? Is that why I will be taking BCP's? I didn't ask why I had to do it, just figured it was all part of the process. lol But I have heard that some women don't take BCP's.

My shots are supposed to be done in the stomach and the hip. Never had one in the stomach before, not too crazy about that.

Hi Chrissy

Downregging is when you give your body a "menopausal" effect. It is the part with Suprecur (Buserelin) injections or sniffing.

I hope that helps.

Chrissy ... Don't get yourself too hung up re the side effects of the meds. If you read all the bumf, it could half scare you to death. Some girls experience one or two, others are lucky and the meds don't really affect them in that way. Let's hope you're the latter ..! PMA !

I did some research on the side effects. They don't seem too bad really and are only temp. Most of them sounded like things that women experience while pregnant and seeing that is what my goal is, won't worry too much about them. I experienced some of them myself in past pregnancies (I have secondary infertility).

I know in the end all of this will be well worth it.

Thanks so much!

Dancola - funny your bruise easily...so do I! I can rub up against something and have a huge bruise the next day. I talked to the acu doc about it - and she says it is all related to the poor blood circulation. I also have a horrible, ugly vericose vain on my left leg...looks like an 80 year old's leg! But I didn't want to get it operated on until after getting preggers...since pregnancy will make it worse. But again this is related to the poor blood circulation.

Off to Vienna in the AM tomorrow...I am exhausted. For the past 2 weeks I have been scrubbing the house and working in the garden..my fingers are like sandpaper and are bleeding in places....but the house looks wonderful! I will be back in Munich on 1 June - acu appointment and realtors are coming by on 3rd June.

I was really, really, really bad today   ...first I had a small breakdown when I went past a store this morning with all these cute pink baby clothes..just some tears rolling down my cheeks....

ok and now the bad part....I ate 2 donuts for lunch!! And I just at McDonalds for dinner!! My stomache is killing me - I feel so sick!  Now I think I will have a glass of wine to top it all off!!
(it is not me..I swear...it is the nasty, evil AF)

I hope you guys have a great 2 weeks..I will try my hardest to login. Think of me tomorrow driving to Vienna with my 2 cute dogs who get totally car sick and barf everywhere! (see I am so ready for a baby!)

HI Chrissy

Welcome! You are lucky to find this board so early on - I was on my 2ww when I joined and couldn't belive that all this support was under my nose! The meds are ok - I was prepared for big mood swings etc. but found the IVF drugs ok. The only time I really felt bloated and over emotional was the 2ww - but that is to be expected with such an emotional experience!
Don't worry!!! :P

Randa - we are starting about the same time. Do you have it all ready? :?:
I keep double checking everything as my first injection is on a Sunday when the clinic is closed - so no one to help there if I dont know what I'm doing!!!!! However, my clinic is at a large hospital and there is a ward I can go to any time should I need meds or have any problems out of hours. I like this reassurance!!!! Especially when I had to do the late night injection....arghhhhh....imagine dropping that vial  and not having another...arghhhhhhh ......preparaton is the key 8)

Love to all Juju jelly babes , Lumi xxx
