Well, I thought I had read up and had a lot of information. But you all are WAY BEYOND me! I live in the states but we are doing our IVF in Greece. DH is Greek and we have a house here. The cost is about 1/4 of what it would be in the states, but if you have to find a hotel, rental car, etc... I'm not sure it would be worth it. Not to mention at least 1 spouse if not both taking 1 month off work. Luckily I can work from the computer.
I was on bcp for 2 months, saw the doctor for the first time on day 1 of my cycle. Started Gonal F shots on day 3. Today is day 4 of shots.
Basically all I know is to go back Tuesday for an ultrasound and blood test. You are all familiar with the different drugs, terms, etc...
I have a million questions, my first being how did you all react to the meds? I am fine so far, but its still only a few days into it. Did you all have the same side effects?
Thanks.

Just a few days into our first (and hopefully only) IVF.
Good Luck dear, when I first found this site I was like you. But soon you'll be educated.
Every day you learn something new.
Where in Greece is your house? I love Greece, have been many times....Been to Corfu, Zakinthos, Samos and Pafos.
The Greek are very nice people
TTC 6yrs......Have jumped off the rollercoaster for now, too many BFN's and too much heartache, to keep going....Moving on to fulfil other dreams!!!

Don't panic about not knowing things - some of us have done this before!!
Obviously with side-effects they are personal and not everyone is going to get them - with Gonal F I know that there are several that can occur such as moody swings, crying, headaches, a rash where the injection goes in, tiredness - but you have to remember that just because some people have had these it does not mean you will.
With the drugs you should have received a leaflet telling you all about Gonal F and in that leaflet are all the possible side-effects possible. If you read this you will see that it is that comprehensive they have practically listed everything possible - this is because everyone is different.
Try and stay calm and relaxed and take each day as it comes - ask any questions and we will try and help as much as possible.
so glad you have started if you look through the May buddies thread you'll find loads of stuff on side effects..if you post there you should find girls cycling at the same time as you, and then rolling into June, so they'll be going through similar things.
Brave of you trying in Greece, and why not?? We are being treated in Spain (I think I have posted to you on the intro thread?) and we enjoy the trips there as well. How nice to be able to stay for a month
Good luck to you sweetie

Hi Elisa Sophia
What a lovely name! Welcome to the boards, I was the same as you when I first came on here, its so informative and everyone is very friendly and supportive.
As the other ladies have said side effects can vary for each person. I hope your treatment goes well and you have a successful outcome.
Best of luck
Eskavon x
Thanks for your responses ladies. I'm sure I will be IVF literate soon! We are in Nafpaktos Greece, 3 hours west of Athens on the Corinthian Channel. We drive to Athens though for all of our treatments, etc...
I will look for a May buddies group, and I will have DH read me the pamphlet for side effects of the meds.
I am very, very thankful to the two owners of my company and the support staff back in the states. Without them I would not be able to be here for a month and do this. But I still have to work, which is frustrating to not be at my desk and have everything I need at my fingertips.

What meds/protocol are you doing??? I have been through a long lupron cycle and this past time we did Clomid, Follistim, Repronex, Antagon....Have you pulled pharmacology on any of the meds?? Supression meds make me pretty irratable but other than that not much...Although Anatagon itched at the injections site.....

We tried Chlomid for 3 cycles about 6 months ago. It was not fun, and I never even ovulated on it! A total waste of side-effects and money! Then the doctor put my on bcp to regulate my cycle and get me on a calendar for IVF. The only other thing I have taken so far is the Gonal F for the past 4 days. We were given a prescription list to fill which included antibiotics for DH, Pregnyl, Utrogestan and Orgalutran. Everything in and on the boxes is written in Greek and I can't read it! I am going to try looking these meds up on the internet.
So far, I have been feeling great. I am so excited to get through the next 10 days and get pregnant and move back to America to the new house we bought last week!

Hello - please don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of information and dont forget the only meds you need to know about are your own! I only found this site during my 2WW and was shocked about how little I knew! However, you don't have to know anything other than what you need to do on a day to day basis. Once you are clear about that then there is more time to work out what everything is for...!!!
Take care Lumi xxxxx
