Painful embryo transfer

Post by brs888 »

I had my first embryo transfer on Monday, May 9th. I was expecting a painless simple procedure. It was extremely painful! I actually laid there crying...was completely caught off guard. My uterus is slightly tilted and they needed to use pressure to get everything lined up for the transfer. The doctor's only guess is that my endometriosis caused the pain. Has anyone else had a painful transfer :?: :!:

Hi girls

I have a tilted cervix, and the test run for ET was very painful  , I am so glad they did a test run. ET itself went very well as they changed the chair angle, the speculum and the catheter after the test run..

I think research shows it's the time the embies spend in the catheter that can affect success, the shorter the better..

Good luck with your test tomorrow brs888 sweetie

I just want to say I hope all goes ok for you and you get all your dreams come true. I have endo too, but I had a bad EC but ET wasn't so bad. I am now blessed with a beautiful 15 month old son Alex-Mitchell.

Brs,

I had an "uncomfortable ET but I can't say painful necessarily....I can tell you that I have a tilted uterus as so forced to have a full bladder then add the speculum while they are putting pressure on your bladder was certainly uncomfortable....For me nothing was worse than the HSG....That would be when I was on the table cying....

Thanks LP and BRSS for your message on the other thread: the doctors have suggested that I may have developed endo since the Lap & Dye that I had, everything was clear then, but they have said that its nothing to worry about but I would like to get this checked out sometime.
I am so worried about the pain when I have my ET this time that I think that is going to make the situation worse, I just don't know what to do. I am seeing a reflexologist and they may help to calm me down a bit. I hope it all work out for you, and for everyone else
Take Care
