Hi Elena ... Welcome to the Site, and glad you've found us !! I'm in the UK, and as you say we can only have the 2 embies replaced (3 if, I think, you are 40+).

I've got to say I would go with 3 if I'd ever had the choice. I would have thought your doc would have had this discussion with you well in advance, as it's not really a decision you want to have rush into making.... I've just re-read your post ... I'm assuming you actually had ET today ??

If you want to join others who are also on their 2ww, there is a thread titled May 2ww. That's where you can all go crazy together ..!

Also, If you give Little P your test date, she'll add your name/date to the list on the May Test Date thread.

Good luck Elena

Elena

Welcome to the site - and congratulations on your ET. I too an in UK so all that Sandra has said about numbers applies to me.

If you let me know your test date I will add your name/date to the list.

I wish you loads of luck and PMA and hope that your 2ww goes as smoothly and quickly as possible. As Sandra has said join in the 2ww thread and share your anxieties and experiences with the others - it helps to discuss things with others who are going through the same thing.

Big hugs

Little P

Hi Elena

I am in Australia and here the numbers vary per clinic. My clinic will only put back two, regardless of age. I have heard that some will do three for older patients but this goes against the code of practice that the clinics operate under. Given the choice, I would have liked three put back as it seems to produce a better result. That being said, I only ended up with two little embies so it wouldn't have been an issue anyway!

I hope you are feeling ok after ET. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Cheers

Thank you so much for replying so quickly! It's good to know that others are out there on this crazy jourmey...I did have my ET today, and am feeling surprisingly well. I'm thinking that maybe the meds were the worst of it, but I'm only at the very beginning of the whole 2ww thing.

Little P, My test date is set for June 6th. And I will check out the other thread.

Thanks again girls and good luck to you all...

Just checking in like we said we would (Pam prefers that I do the typing. She's a little shy).

Friday can't show up soon enough for us. What an emotional roller coaster this is for us. We know you hear this a thousand times; but we hope for positive results on our first try (we are also realists too and know we could be in this for the long haul). This is very draining...

Every low cramps she gets, she runs to the bathroom by default. "Technically" she is a day late for her period. She is constantly napping and falling asleep on the couch or in bed by 9:00. No energy at all. She never misses Law and Order and she hasn't seen it in weeks. What's up with the visible veins on her chest and breasts. They are quite noticable to us in the past few days. Plus she has the hungry horrors.

Nobody she knows has gone through this. Could she have pregnant symptoms or is the progesterone I inject into her daily catching up to her??? I guess we have to wait another 2 days...

She wishes every one of you positive results and really appreciates the feedback.

Take care,
Pam and Mike

Mike

Hang in there - it's sounding good - only one more sleep and you can have that result.

Fingers crossed for you both.

Hi Pam and Mike .. You are right, this whole experience is just so draining ... Just another couple of days to go, and you'll be put out of your misery. You're doing well, and sound strong - keep up the PMA just a little longer !!

Morning gang, and welcome to Elena. For what its worth, I think you did the responsible thing having three put in rather than four. All the decisions to do with this are hard, particularly with all the emotions and everything.

Pam and Mike - the signs are definitely looking good, but as Becky (ogr) has said it could equally be the progesterone as a pregnancy. Hoping for you that its the latter!

I'm waiting for my daily call from the clinic to tell me (hopefully!) that at least one of my little embies has made it to blastocyst and can be transferred. I had a v vivid dream last night that they phoned and said, "bad news, they've all perished". I hope this isn't an omen. I'll let you know.

Really dispapointed about eskavon's news but hoping Big J will cheer us up with good news later.

Me again. You're not going to bloody believe this. The embies "haven't quite come out into blastocyst stage" (or something) yet. The embryologist wasn't that surprised, given they've been a bit on the slow side all along, but it means that the transfer won't now be until tomorrow morning (day 6). I'm starting to doubt that I'll ever actually get to the stage of having the little buggers put back in! Trying to be calm and philosophical about it all, but its not easy!

Alison .. Doesn't the torture just continue ..?? Can you come up with an escape plan today, to take your mind off things ... Another lunch out with friends / back to back video watching / a cosy book ..? It's going to be a long day ... but at least you'll be in the best position possible at time of ET .. think positive ..!

Alison, I too get to blasto stage each time and my clinic has a similar policy to yours. They will only consider you for blasto if you have 6 or more embryos given the risks that not all will make it. They tend to do EC on the Weds, and then call you daily to let you know the progress. In April we had a call on the Saturday saying that it was looking good for blasto but again stressing the decision was ours. We waited until Day 5/Monday and we had one blasto and one morula – which is the stage just before blasto. Sounds like yours are at morula stage right now. My clinic won’t go past day 5 so both were transferred at that point.

I do wonder whether I will have blasto next time. Obviously it’s a more natural point to do the ET and the theory if they’ve survived to this point seems valid, but the –ve is that you don’t get any left to freeze, whereas having a day 2 or 3 transfer means that some can be frozen.

:( Oh sweetie, as Sandra says "torture" - I shall keep sending PMA and wishes to you and your embies.

I hope that you get a nice early phone call and get to be reunited as quickly as possible.

Take care and big hugs
