Are there many men on here with infertility issues?

I see a few I think.

My husband is going to start taking Theralogix for the next few months due to issues with his sperm count, motility, etc. I was just wondering if there were any other couples/men on here dealing specifically with low sperm count as well. It's nice to hope we're not alone in this. I have a feeling this is going to be a long, emotional road for us.

Hi Breathe - I've just replied to your post on the General Forum ... As I say on the other forum, my df takes enough stuff to rattle. He has a low count and low motility.

On our first cycle, before lots of supplements, we did ICSI and 3 eggs out of 6 fertilised.

On the second cycle, after taking the vits and minerals, we had 11 fertilise out of 14.

... so, something's definitely working.

I haven't heard of Theralogix ... Is it your dr who recommended it ..?

My dh has no sperm and when i first found this site was looking for support for him, he's sine got his head round it it's me who need the support even though!!!

Every now and again a man posts but they dont tend to hang about. It's a girl thing, obviously!!

I posted on the general forum last night about Proxeed, a drug (or supplement) from the US that my consultant told me about. It's for men with low count/quality/motility etc, all of which unfortunately my DH has. We've had 2 cycles of ICSI so far (the only lifeline for male factor); the first was +ve but I then m/c a few days later, and the one just last month was -ve. DH's count, quality, and strength have all fallen dramatically since our first cycle, and the no. of abnormal cells risen to 95% from 75%. Why this may not be the reason for our failures (we're going to look into killer cells), my consultant showed me the website for this product (www.med-direct.com) and recommended it, saying he'd seen a couple the week before where the male had taken this with great results. It's not cheap - $300 or so for 3 months' supply - but I'm going to give it a go.

Hi there, very new and green but I think you peeps are going to be life savers. I have just joined up and I am a bit lost in spain. dh has been diagnosed with low sperm and motility prob. From my gyny we were refered straight to assisted reproduction centre. Is there anything we can try before ICSI

Hi Daisy, my DH has an almost zero sperm count, no more than 3 swimmers in any sample but usually none at all. He just has the wrong type of cells in his bits. We bought a book on reflexology before our first ICSI recently and had a go at that. He also gave up alcohol, caffeine and took a vitamin C & zinc supplement and on the day of the ICSI when he gave his sample they found 9 little swimmers which I know doesn't seem a lot but its 300% more than he'd ever had before. Unfortunatley it didn't work for us this time and before we give it another go we're going to also try acupuncture. I wish you loads of luck.

Thanks for that Claire. I have quite literally just found this site and am extremely blinded by science. This is all so new to me. I live in Spain and although can speak the lingo, I don´t feel as if I have a clue what´s going on, esp. since I think DH´s ego is suffering a bit at the moment and so much seems to be lost in translation! I have been recommened a book by other users and DH has been recommended an infertility specialist. I was kinda hoping, a few drugs would and end of story, but from what I can gather it is a few drugs as well as ICSI. I have a lot to learn but I think I have found the right place to do so.

I am so glad I found this bit. I am a new user.
My dh has had a failed vasectomy reversal. We have had 3 donor IUI's which nobody knows about, as he didn't want anybody to know. This was very stressful for me and I gave up the whole thing for a year.
However, we are back on track now and considering ICSI. I do feel that he sees this as my problem, as he already has children. He never talks about it.
Are there any others out there who feel like this?

Hi Lynne ... I know df feels absolutely terrible about the whole situation. He doesn't talk about it, but I think this is because he's so upset and feels he's let me down ... I, however, see it as a joint issue, rather than anyone is to blame.

Hi there, my partner and i have a similar issue, only just a few sperm with each sample. We have been assured that 'motility' is not a big concern as the motility or movement of the tail is really only to help it swim and get to the egg and with ICSI the sperm doesnt need these qualities as the sperm is put inside the egg, HOWEVER what I am wondering is given that there are a fwe sperm to use for fertilisation how do they know that the quality in all other ways is good enough to produce a healthy embryo??? I am guessing nature insists on millions in each ejaculate under the assumption that only the survival of the fitest and therefore the best quality sperm make it. I am worried about abnormalitied etc from these only FEW sperm that were produced...how do they know they contian everything they need??? any clues or similar thoughts out there???? thanks

As far as im aware, although obviously children are born with abnormalities sometimes, I think if the sperm really wasnt suitable then it wouldnt be able to fertilise the egg or even if it did then the embryo just wouldnt develop and divide normally to then have the chance of implanting and developing into a baby. As far as ICSI is concerned thousands of babies have been born through it and from what ive read, although they only have a few years but no long term research to go on, it appears to be a safe procedure to do. You really need to discuss this further with your doctors. Im sure they wouldnt be going ahead if it wasnt suitable.

thanks for clarifying that 'K'. I guess i wrote that the morning after my first EC. I realise now 4 or so days later that what you are saying must be the case. I mean they got 12 eggs and down to 4 viable embyros with a day or 2 to go before freezing so I realise it is still the whole'survival of the fitest' thing, just on a different level. Thanks for the reassurance

I have been in other forums on this site but I have just found this forum. We are new to ivf and after all the usual tests we found that Dh had no sign of any sperm in his sample. As he is only 27 I was quite surprised and very dissapointed. The doctor said he can have an operation to see if it's just a damaged tube, has anyone's Dh had this op and had any luck?

We have severe male factor infertility and doing ICSI - our only chance to get pregnant. I am also concerned about chromosome abnormalities and birth defects. We did a background blood test for possible chromosome abnormalities. Unfortunately, it's very expensive to test each embryo before transfering it. The blood test just tested if my DH carried abnormal chromosomes or not. Luckily, he didn't. The doctor told me that usually if there are some abnormalities, you body rejects the embryo and you miscarry. Still my main concern is that with ICSI you are "forcing" the fertilization and that probably that particular sperm would never fertilize that particular egg under normal circumstances. But since it's our only chance - what are you going to do?

Carinaboo-My husband also was diagnosed with TC. In fact we were in our 2nd round of IVF when we had to stop short days before the ET.
I had my FET and in my 2ww now. Just glad to see success stories after TC. My husband was able to sperm bank before his chemo.
