Hiya, good to hear everyones on track and doing well still. Those are lovely names Kelly.
I had my scan at the specialists yesterday - it was great - I got a big report going through absolutely every part of his body - brain, heart, liver, bladder etc etc and everything was absolutely normal he even put on that there were absolutely no signs that the baby had downs which is great to know we made the right decision not to have the amnio. Its wonderful seeing Thomas every month - I couldn't bear to be in the uk and only have 1 or 2 scans. I'm enormas, but I was with Benjamin - I've put on 8 kilos (17lb !!) but I'm not worried as I lost it all after Benjamin - it took a while but I only had to work at the last bit, the first few stone just fell off gradually with no effort. Really excited, I know its still a while off but can't wait to get the nursery ready. Bought some new furniture for it and am getting all Benjamins baby clothes out and ready - its quite handy having another boy, they grow out of things so quickly at first so most of his stuff is still as good as new.

Hey Wendy,
Great news on your scan! What a relief to know that little Thomas is as healthy as can be. It doesn't get better than that!

I was at the gym the other day and the trainer was telling us that she has a friend who is only 5'2" tall and gained 95 lbs. with her first baby!!! I couldn't imagine gaining that much weight. But in the end apparently she lost all of it within 6 mths. of giving birth, and was back to her normal weight. Then went on to have another child and gained 75 lbs. that time. I guess every woman is different in what they gain and how they lose it during and after pregnancy. Crazy how the body works!

I'm also itching to start on a nursery, but we just aren't settled yet. Still looking for a house, so it's a bit frustrating. I'll bet it's nice having another boy and not having to worry about buying all new clothes. It's nice that you're buying new furniture though. That's the fun part! I am probably going to buy an infant seat/carrier and stroller this weekend. That will be my largest purchase to date =)

I have my monthly doctor's appt. next week, so I'm anxious to see how my belly is measuring. Hope you both have a great weekend!

Hiya kelly. Yes its bizarre how everyones so different, I have a friend here who is 2 wks ahead of me but is only just showing - its incredible, I'm not quite touching the steering wheel with my tummy just yet, but I know it'll come !! You had better get a move on with the house hunting - the time will soon fly by and you don't want to be too big / tired to do the decorating etc. Chris still hasn't done the extension, but I've scheduled him down to do it middle of june. Its handy already having all the boys clothes and certainly means they'll of been value for money, however I certainly wouldn't of minded going shopping for new girlie clothes !! Benjamin has finally got used to the idea that its the baby that is called Thomas and I don't mean Thomas the tank engine when I talk about him !!! He still doesn't really understand the concept though I'm sure despite lifting my top in front of anyone and saying 'baby in there' and pointing to my breasts saying 'milk, gorgeous' !!!. Weather here is fantastic, although was getting a bit hot yesterday, 34 c. Cooler today but a very pleasant 24 c, I'm sure I won't be saying that in the summer when i'm huge and very very hot !! take care, loads of love wendy, chris, benjamin and ((thomas bump)) xxxxx

A thousand apologies for disappearing for weeks. Time just totally slipped away from me between work, a job interview, visitors and convincing dh that now was a good time to work on the nursery I haven't had a minute.

Wendy great news about the detailed scan - what a relief and so much less nerve wracking than an amnio.
Kelly how are things going with the house hunt - have you found anything you like yet?

Sue - Is it almost time for your 20 week scan? have you felt any movement yet from the babes? You're not going to find whether they're boys or girls either, right? I remember for our 20 week scan we were still "debating" whether to find out or not as we walked over the threshold of the hospital. In the end we didn't and now the name "Itsy" has started to stick even my mother is calling the baby Itsy!!!

All is well here. Have been feeling lots of movement over the past week or so. It has gone from the odd kick to several kicks and taps throughout the day and now at night also. Apart from when I'm trying to sleep at night I love feeling the baby move, it's fantastic.

We're also beginning to get immersed in the confusing world of pushchairs, car seats, mini-cots, junior beds and disposable versus re-usable nappies. Who would have thought that such topics could provide hours of discussion and debate???!!

I'm also getting big, really big. I have probably gained about 17-18lbs so far and I'm thinking that with another 13 weeks to go that's probably another 13lbs. DH tries to reassure me that I'm not getting fat I'm building a comfortable house for Itsy

Must run now, will try and stay better in touch. I miss hearing all your exploits and experiences.

Hi Girls

Nice to see your ok Edi, you made me laugh with the name Itsy, my two have been called 'The Dots' right from ET. One of my friends just texted me a message saying' hang on in there you dots', which they have done and the name just stuck!. We have even started refering to any other twins we see out as 'Dots'! And yes like you my Mum etc are all refering to them as the 'Dots'
My scan is Fri week, the 10th and I am trying not to get stressed out about it yet! We are def not gonna find out the sex, although I am sure I will prob look hard to see if I can work anything out for myself!! The heartbeats are at different speeds, which they say under 140 for a girl and over a boy, but I am just hoping for two healthy babies! We can so far only agree on one girls and one boys name, so we will have to do some thinking before hand!
I have also booked a 4D scan for 25weeks!! Its £195 with 2 photos and a 10 min DVD. Expensive but in the scheme of things(our treatments have cost a small fortune) we felt is was a nice thing to do!!
Kelly, hows the house hunting? I know what you mean re wanting to get on with the nursery. I have picked everything but darent buy or order anything yet. Some of the nursery stuff is 8 weeks delivery! Have you been to your Docs appt yet? Hope all went ok.
I have a big bump now!! Its really surprising as if I look back to my holiday photos of just over 3wks ago I seem to have exploded! I look about 6months gone! God knows what it will be like by the end. I think I am feeling movement, its like little twitches or taps, but they dont seem to do it together. One is a little higher than the other although still side by side according to the midwife. I guess they will tell me for sure at the scan.
Wendy your detailed scan sounds wonderful and so reassuring, I wish we had the same type of thing over here available on the NHS!
Oh and I too have out on 18lbs so far! but am some way behind you ladies! Oh well as long as the Dots are growing nicely I will worry about getting back to normal afterwards.
Does the 20 week scan take much longer than the 12wk one, and do they tell you what they are looking at as they do it?........see I am starting to stress already.

Hi Everyone!
Seems like we're all rolling along smoothly these days. Edi - glad to see you posting, and that little Itsy is moving around. We were getting worried not hearing from you =) The stroller, infant seats, bassinets, cribs, ... decisions are overwhelming. I finally decided to just take them one at a time, which seems to be far less stressful. Enlisting someone who has children to help you out is also a plus. My friend helped me tremendously while looking at strollers and infant seats. Just stuff like "definitely get a stroller that will steer easily with one hand", "infant seats with locks that are easy to buckle and unbuckle". Obviously safety comes first with all of this, but the extra input is definitely a plus.

Wendy - you must have some good tips having done this before?! Any words of wisdom for us first timers? You were smart to set a date for your extension. I sort of did that with Jason. I keep reminding him that I will be pretty useless come August and most certainly after the birth. I'm sure it's sunk in. Now we're both stressed about the whole house thing. We keep watching for new listings, and driving the neighborhoods we like every few days. Other than that it's waiting for the right house to come on the market. For now I'm prepared (have a plan in place) to either stay here until after the birth, or move before.

Sue - good to hear that your bump has grown. The dots must be doing well in there! Friday will be here before you know it. The 20 week scan is great. You find out all the important stuff ... heart chambers, stomach, head measurements, etc. For us they did a head down view, which was helpful in seeing the organs but not as visually pleasing as the earlier scans (profiles & stuff). The babies will be larger now too, so it's harder to see all of them at once. Yours might be different, but if not the 4D scan should make up for it.

My dr. appt. went well. I've gained about 11 lbs. to date, uterus measured fine, and my doctor was very pleased overall. My glucose test is next mth so I'm hoping that will turn out ok. Jason and I opted for a 4D scan at the last minute. We weren't going to, but changed our minds when we found out it was only $150 (far cheaper than anything else to date). My appt. was today. Unfortunately the baby was moving around a lot, and she had her little arms and legs up around her head. All this made it hard for the tech to get a good profile of her. Fortunately she gave us a quick peek of her face, so we're hoping to put that on our website. When we do I'll be sure to post a link. We also got to see her chubby little toes and fingers, she opened and closed her eyes, and she flashed her privates a good deal. Definitely a girl =) Sue - 25 weeks is a really good time for the 4D (I'm currently 1 day shy of 26 wks). At this point they aren't so big that they are difficult to see. The tech said they have a lot of people go in at 30 weeks when it's harder to get a shot of the face. In my opinion it's well worth the money.

Again ... glad to see all the babies and mommies are doing well =) Let the weight gaining begin!

Hi Girls,

Just to let you all know that I am off on hols at the weekend for 2 weeks so i'll be out of touch for a while. Nothing very exciting planned but looking forward to 2 weeks off work. I've been having a lot of trouble with my back so I think some time away from a computer screen will help.

How's everyone feeling? Getting bigger? I certainly am. Is anyone else losing their mind? I seem to be doing crazy things, like forgeting I've booked stuff, where I put things, feeling addled and confused. I didn't really believe in Pregnancy brain until last week, I thought I was losing my marbles. I got into a total panic thinking that if I'm this bad now what on earth am I going to be like in 12 weeks time!!!
But thankfully it's not as bad this week. At least I feel a bit more purposeful and more in control. - phew.

Kelly - I love the idea of a 4d scan, I saw a program on TV called "Life before birth" which used 4d technology and the image has really stayed in my mind. Enjoy it

Sue - how are the dots? Good luck on Friday with the 20 week scan. Don't be shy about asking questions and getting as much information as you want. That was a mistake I made - came out thinking I should have asked ... but of course it was too late then.

Take good care of yourselves and "see" you in a couple of weeks when I'll be the big THREE ZERO weeks.

Its great to come on and see that everyones still doing brilliantly. Pregnancy brain really does exist and I think it kind of never goes away - it does get better after the baby comes but now the second ones on its way I'm sure I'm far worse than the first time.
Wow 4D scans sound fantastic - I also saw the life before birth programme and it was amazing. I'd probably have to go to Paris for one here, but getting a regular scan every month sort of makes up for it as I get to see little Thomas every month which is lovely. Benjamins soooo sweet, he actually came up to me un prompted today and kissed my tummy saying 'give thomas a kiss'.
i've got my 6mth scan on friday and i'm going for excercises in the pool with the midwife on weds afternoons which should be fun.
work on the extension starts on monday - can't wait to get the baby room sorted.

Hi Girls

Glad everyone is doing well. Had my scan yesterday and pleased to report that the Dots have passed their MOT...yippee I cant believe how long it took though! 45mins!!! They are so lively she was having real problems...is this a sign of things to come ?! I also couldnt believe how far up twin 2 is! literally half way between my boobs and my belly button, no wonder I look so big! The funniest thing was that twin 1 was using my bladder as a spring board and whilst we were watching it bounced of it so high it disappeared off screen As you can probably tell I am feeling much relieved now and am starting to believe I will actually have babies! I cant wait til my 4d scan now on 9th July. We have to go back for a scan at the hospital at 28wks and see my consultant then. The only tiny worry was that the placenta for twin 1 is not far off my cervix, but the sonographer said that as I grow it should move up, if not then I guess it will def be a c section 4 me. I can really feel them now, and they seem to have found a spot at the back of my belly button that really makes me wince, its a bit like knocking your funny bone, I am wondering if its because I have had 3 laparoscopys and there is scar tissue? Anyone else find this?
Kelly, the things you said about your 4D scan have made me want it even more, would love to see the photos if you can get them on your web site!! I agree with what you say about asking those who know, one of my best friends had 3 kids under 4, and she has said things to me that I wouldnt have thought of at all. I cant wait to start buying stuff!
Edi, hope you are having a lovely few weeks off. I have found my memory is going too....could be old age on my part though! I have taken to putting things into my mobile phone as messages/memos when I think of them so I dont forget. As long as I can remember where I left my phone this will help for the time being!
Wendy, how lovely that Benjamin keeps talking to his brother and kissing him! It did remind me of a friend of mine who had a baby when her little one was just over 3. All the way through he had known that the baby was in her tummy and was thrilled when his brother arrived. After a few days of her being home he said 'Mummy, can we put the baby back now please?' pointing to her tummy!!! Guess it was like having a new toy and getting bored after a few days?!! Bless him!
They do an antenatal aqua class locally here which I might try, first class is free so I have nothing to loose, has anyone been to them before? When I have been swimming I seem to get kicked all the more, must be the adrenalin.
Oh well better go, Rob is selling his pride and joy sports car today so I had better console him. I am sure he will love the new 4x4 just as much...not!

Sue-Great news on your recent scan. Glad to hear that the dots are progressing nicely. I've heard about the placenta moving up as you grow, so hopefully that will be the case. I can't imagine what it feels like to have two babies wrestling around in there =)

Wendy-Sounds like Benjamin is really aware that there's a little brother in there for him. How cute it must be to see him talking to Thomas. That must make you feel good. I had a friend who was pregnant with her second and her daughter insisted on everyone talking thru the belly button. That was the only way her brother could hear you. It was so adorable.

Sue-Sorry to hear that your having some back pain. I'm sure sitting at a computer all day is aggravating it. Hopefully your vacation will do the trick. I'm definitely suffering from pregnancy brain. I was talking about it with my friend the other day. We were brainstorming on why it happens. Thinking maybe it has to do with less oxygen. Who knows!

All is well here. I'm starting to slowly pick things up for the baby. More necessary stuff like bassinet, infant car seat, stroller, waterproof sheets, some bottles, etc. Nothing for the nursery yet. Since it looks like we're probably going to be in the condo for the birth, I'm going to hold off. It's tough since that's the most fun of the buying. Once we put a contract down on a place I'll start picking up stuff.

Went for my Glucose test last week. The cut off was 139 and I was exactly that, so I need to go back tomorrow for the more extensive test. I've heard many women have false positives, so I'm not too worried. Just crossing my fingers that all goes well tomorrow. It would stink to have to worry about gestational diabetes and all the possible complications that go along.

I'm also going for a scan sometime this week. I have a good size fibroid that's low on my uterus. They're hoping that it's moved up since they last looked at it. If not, then it may cause me to need a C section. If it's the case, so be it, but I would prefer to have a vaginal birth. We'll see soon enough.

Well ... I'm sure we're all feeling quite large these days. I know I am. DH is getting a kick out of me starting to struggle to get out of our sofa. He's threatening to video tape! I warned him that I may be slow at getting up, but that I'm still moving fast so he better run =) Needless to say, we're having a good time with it all.

Hi Girls

Hope everyone is ok. Edi are you back at work now and did you and your back rest nicely during your break?. My back has been playing up, it is never good even when I am not pg! I am convinced that this was 12 years of sitting at a pc! Rob has bought me a swiss ball and I have to say sitting on it is fantastic relief, you can pick them up on e bay really cheap.
I had my check with the midwife yesterday, and I measure 29 weeks!! So that explains the huge bump then! Last time I was 5 wks more than normal, now 6, so I guess pretty soon I will look full term I must admit I am wondering just how big my bump is gonna get as it doesnt seem to be slowing!
Kelly, how did the glucose test go? I have heard loads of girls get a borderline and then the next test is fine, hoping yours was too? Also how did the scan go? I have my 4d one next Sat, cant wait!!
I have finished decorating the nursery and am waiting for the furniture now which will be another 5 -7 wks, how weird will that look then! I still have to pinch myself when I look at a babies room taking shape in my house!

Hi Girls! Hope everyone is doing well!

Sue ... glad to hear that all is well with your little twins! If you're measuring 29 weeks, then I'm sure you have quite the bump. I'm at 30 weeks and I feel huge. My stomach just jutts out there. I'm waiting for my belly button to pop, but I doubt it will since it was quite the innie to begin with. Glad to hear that the swiss ball is giving you some relief from the back pain. I was at a friends house recently. She had her first child (a boy) in May and was sharing some secrets. She said the ball is FABULOUS for getting her boy to sleep. Nothing else worked ... glider didn't, walking around, rocking, vibrating, and then she sat on the ball and gently bounced. She said she wouldn't trade it for anything.

As for my 4D. We got one nice shot out of it, but even that was a bit blurry. It would have been great if the tech running the machine knew how to work it. Apparently she's a new US tech and told the office that she could train herself on the new machine. The front desk seemed to be on to her, so they asked us to let them see the results of our 4D. Needless to say, we got a full refund and the tech is currently in training. They offered to have us come back at no charge after her training, but we're going to pass. The one photo we did get will have to do, and it's still better than a regular 2D ultrasound.

A friend of mine in Florida just had a 4D on her little girl and it's amazing! Just like you see on the web. Hopefully yours will turn out just as great. Let us know. Scanning 2 babies should make it twice as fun!

So so sorry. We've just been sooooo busy - we are in the middle of our high season and have so much work to do but also i'm absolutely exhausted at the end of the day and just havn't had the strength to get on line. I'm huge !!! ohh and the heat - its been 37 c here for weeks now and i'm suffering - particularly my feet, they are soooo swollen and sore but still loving being pregnant and just sooo looking forward to 30th august - our baby Thomas' birthday (planned c section) only 6wks left. All is well - Chris has finished building the new office and has decorated the nursery - my bags are nearly packed and I have a draw full of nappies etc all ready. benjamin loves Thomas' bedroom and wants to sleep in there too.
how is everyone - what are the up dated due dates as i've forgotten and i'm sure the twins will be coming earlier than 40wks.
Love to all - will try and find the energy to get on here more often....

Not sure what happened to our thread, but it seems to have slowly faded away. Makes me sad as I was hoping to keep in touch with everyone a little better ... especially as we come into the final stretch. Maybe Edi and Sue will pop on soon with an update.

Glad to hear that your business seems to be doing well. I'm sure it's keeping you jumping, as well as little Benjamin. Sorry to hear that your feet are swelling. I haven't had much except when traveling, but I know how uncomfortable it is. I'm sure the heat isn't helping. When does your busy season end? Hopefully soon since you're only a month out =) So your c section is set? That must feel good. I would love to know exactly when this baby is going to come. What does little Thomas' nursery look like?

We've been super busy as well. We're both bogged down with classes at the moment. Thank goodness both end the second week in August. Lots of reading and writing going on in this household. We finally bought a house! Naturally the timing stinks ... but somehow I knew that would happen. Of the 365 days in the year they had to pick Sept 9th (my DUE date) as their closing date!!! We decided to counter with Sept 30th since they were unable to do so any earlier than the 9th. August would have been ideal, but what can you do. DH is determined to make it as smooth as possible for me, and I have no doubt he'll succeed. I'm trying to put it out of my mind at the moment as not to let the stress of the idea of moving get to me. It is nice to think that we'll be in a home and not in this condo soon after her birth, so I try to focus on that. Needless to say ... no nursery progress for us. That will (unfortunately) come after the baby.

My MIL and SIL were in town this past weekend. It was great having them here, but sort of glad they're gone. With everything going on with the house (negotiations) it made for more stress. We did do a lot of shopping and eating out though. That was nice. I'm feeling pretty prepared (minus the nursery), so that's a relief. How's everyone else doing on preparations? Wendy ... you sound like you're set. I'm good except for a breast pump. Thing is that I decided not to buy one since a good friend of mine (who nursed her 2 children) told me that she burnt out two motors on the two pumps she bought. Her recommendation was to rent one from the hospital. They tend to be the best quality out there, and you can buy one when you're ready. I think that's the route we're going.

Well ... I've gone on and on. Sorry for the long post. Look forward to hearing from everyone as due dates draw closer. Edi --- hope you're doing well. I assume you'll be taking some time off of work soon. Sue --- hope you and the twins are getting nice and big =) Wendy --- good luck with all the heat. Remember to stop and put your feet up once in a while!

I haven't been on for ages either, so sorry! Not long now!I cant remember if you are having a C section too Kelly, but Wendy its only a few weeks for you!!I am starting to suffer a bit now! Getting comfortable seems to be impossible and my hips are killing me in the night! I have tried every pillow and position you can think of! My routine now is to sleep in our bed with Dh until around 4am, then I get up and vacate to the spare room! This has my old double bed with an orthopedic mattress in which is really hard and the change seems to help! Sleeping on either all night doesn't seem to work
We had a growth scan at 27+5 and they were really pleased, twin 1 was 2lb 5 and twin 2 2lb 8oz, which is what they said they would expect a singleton to be at this stage. Guess that kind of explains the 44 1/2 inch waist I am sporting(it was 28in before!!) I don't go back to the consultant til 12th sep now when I will be nearly 34wks, although I am seeing the midwife fortnightly now. I still have anemia and they stepped up my iron tabs to 3 a day(600mg) but I felt really sick and had an upset stomach so am gonna try 2 a day and hopefully I can get the remainder I need from a herbal drink they recommended. Both of the twins are now head down and side by side, all through my pregnancy I have had one on top of the other, so I am hoping that they will stay that way now!
Everything is arriving for them now! The nursery furniture is all in and it does look lovely although somewhat surreal still! I am becoming an internet shopping addict I cant believe they will be here within the next 8 1/2 weeks max( have been told they wont let me go over 37 1/2wks, but think my stomach will explode by then!!!!)
My stomach looks like waves on a choppy sea a lot of the time, and I have weird shapes poking out
Kelly, hows things with the house move going? New house new baby, its so exciting, although its sods law the date they wanted was your due date!
