Hi JuJu's.

Had a back ache this morning, think my ovaries are closing down!!

I am going away for the wekend, has anybody else flown with the injections etc? I don't want to put things in my bag incase they loose the bags. My friend used to work at the airport and she said t get a doctors note and I will be able to take them on the plane - anybody any experience?

Good luck with your scan tomorrow little P.
Hope everyone else is ok, see some new names - welcome !!

I have just returned from holiday and think I can remember seeing a note saying you can only carry sharp objects (like needles) in hand luggage if you have a doctors note so I would definitely go and get one!

Have an absolutely fantastic time away - I'm sure you will enjoy yourself.

I travelled when I was in the middle of my injections and I put the needles, drugs etc in my vanity box - nobody actually questioned it. I reckon having a letter would be a good idea as it would cover you if anybody questioned you.

I decided that diabetics are allowed to take their needles with them so why not us? :?

I didn't fly, I went on a cruise but their security checks to get on a ship are just the same they scan absolutely everything!!

Take care and have a lovely trip.

Hi all

Can I join in too? I start my down regging injections tomorrow and hope to have got to ET by the end of June. I've been on the boards before as we did IVF last summer, but it ended in absolute disaster - some of you old timers might remember me as the one who ended up in intensive care after having a brain seizure just before EC. Don't go over board on drinking water - my problems were caused by drinking 6 or 7 litres a day, which is a really bad idea.

Anyhow, it's taken us a while to feel comfortable trying again and for the clinic (a different one) to decide that it's definitely safe to go ahead. I'm fairly anxious about the whole thing after last time and I think I've coped with it by pretending it's not really happening. That's why it's taken me til now to come back to the message board as it makes it all a bit too real. Still I had to come back as it was such a great support last time.

I recognise a few names - Ellie and Mia, we were all on the July/Aug cycle last year. It's nice to see people I recognise but I'm sorry we're all still in the same boat. Better luck this time!

I haven't managed to read through all the posts on here but it seems like there are loads of us going through it this time. It'll take me ages to get all the names but I look forward to getting to know you.

love Caroline

ps if it's relevant for anyone, I'm also going to pop up on the over-40s thread as I'm 43 and really glad to see I'm not alone!

Hi Caroline, I recognised your name immediately! Hello!!! lovely to see you back again. Also thrilled that you'll also be over on the 40+ board too. We've had some amazing success on there in the past 3 months so our numers were a little low but are on the up. You'll be in very good company.

Again, lovely to see you back on the board and trying again.
Good luck with this treatment.

Randa-

Thanks so much! I am very excited (and a bit scared). This being my first IVF, I am not too sure what to expect but happy to keep moving forward. Just hope this goes by faster than the last few weeks have! lol

Leanne,
I flew in the U.S. last week (could be different there) and I had no problem. Took my needles and meds in a little case w/ a cold pak in my purse. No issue at all. Hope that helps.

Heather,
Thanks for keeping our list updated. Could you please do me the favor of dropping my ET date? I am only doing EC again this round (change in plans). Thanks!

Caroline,
Welcome! As Debra said, drop in on the over-40 thread. You and I are the same age. I'm assuming you are going for IVF with your own eggs as I am, correct? Debra is right also about the success we've had in that age group! It's very inspiring to say the least :D

My update - I had my 5-day scan today. Follies doing their thing. I'm starting to get that "aware of my ovaries" feeling we IVFrs get at this time. I had 3 on each side that measured less than 10 (whatever that means- ha!). Go Friday for my 8-day scan. Whew! I just looked at the calendar and realized my target EC day is only a week out!!! :D

Good info/warning about the water, Caroline. I didn't know you could drink too much water. I'll be careful.

morning all and thanks for the welcome.

I remember you from last time, too, Debra - sorry I didn't mention you (it was late, that's the best I can manage for an excuse!). And I was so sorry to read about your awful experience recently. Hope you're really on the mend.

Randa, yeah I am using my own eggs. I did really well last time - I had about 15 follies in EACH ovary! Of course I never got to egg collection, so I don't know exactly how many eggs I'd have got or what the quality was, but I think I can produce them ok. In fact, the clinic is putting me on a lower dose of Gonal F this time because really I over reacted. My FSH level is reasonable for a 43 year old (about 6.7 I think) so I have been trying to convince myself that the ONLY problem is blocked tubes and if we can just bypass them it'll all be ok. 'Course there could be a whole load of other issues, like egg quality or miscarriage risk etc, but I just can't think about those now.

I'm a bit confused about the threads here - what's the difference between this one and the June/July cycle thread which I missed last time?

Hi ladies. How did your scan go LittleP, I am very impatient and can't wait to find out.

Leanne, good luck with the injections....I would get a doctor's note just to be on the safe side. Hope you have a great trip and a wonderful time catching up with your family.

Hi Caroline, glad to see you are back. What a horrible thing to have to go through...like the treatment isn't bad enough! Thanks for the tip on the water. How did you fit it all in? I struggle with 2 litres. I am not sure what the difference is between this thread and the other one...maybe we should combine them.

Randa, not long to go now! Sounds like everything is moving along nicely and next week should produce plenty to add to the stocks. Will you do a transfer next time or will DH take more convincing. At least you know you have plenty set aside that should last you well into the future.

Well, I picked up my drugs today. I am using Gonal-F this time around rather than Puregon. They both appear to produce the same results in comparitive testing. I think Gonal-F might be the cheaper option and as I have to plunge 450iu into my stomach each day  I can't blame them for trying to save a few pennies here and there.

I have tried to organise the list a bit better and again, I apologise if I have got anything wrong. Just let me know and I will fix it up.

Happy Wednesday

Hi ladies x

Thanks for the advise re. travelling. I have been to docs. today and I need to ring and make an appointment !!?? I only want a letter!

Anyway, reality just hit me - it's wed. today and thursday follows wed. ahhh I keep thinking " I start my injections Thursday" and have only just realised that the days have been passing me by aahhhh.

I have read my information pack and it says to stop my nasal sprays after my last injection, don't know why I thought I stopped them as soon as I started injecting, am I being a bit mad? What does everyone else do?

Deanne, hope the E.C went ok today, not too sore I hope x

Caroline, we will be having E.C same day hopefully, then we will be close with E.T ( I am doing blastocyst so not exact on dates yet)

Everyone who gave me advise on travelling - thanks.

Little P. well done on your scan, sure it is all falling into place now.

Everyone else - keep up the good work and the PMA , let's do it xxx

Leanne

I am doing the sniffing and I have to continue mine for the time being - I think it is normal practice. When I did my last treatment I had Buserelin injections and I had to continue the Buserelin then :D

Hope you get everything sorted with the Doctor and get your letter. Fingers crossed for you.

Chanteq - try not to worry about things, we will be here to support you and give you help and encouragement when you need it, remember you only need to ask

How's everyone else doing?

Hi girls,

Hope all of you are doing well.

I had my EC yesterday and while we got 11 eggs we found out today that only 1 has fertilised. We're now hoping that this little one can hang on long enough for us to make it to ET tomorrow morning. I'm trying not to get my hopes up though.

I don't know yet what went wrong, but I guess it's likely that we'll need to use ICSI on any subsequent cycles (we had standard IVF this time). Has anyone else had similarly low fertilisation rates on a first go? DH and I could use some encouraging stories! Thanks.

Best wishes to each of you,
Deanne
