Thanks for your words of encouragement Heather and Miss Molly.

Heather, we found the Gonal-F pen quite easy to use. Once you've read the instructions and done the first one you'll find it straightforward.

Barbara - positive news for Donna, fingers crossed for Monday - it seems so unfair to have waited this long and then to have to wait some more

Deanne - sorry to hear about your embies, especially when you had so many eggs, and were probably expecting a higher number - but it does only take one - hopefully all goes well for ET and you can join me in the 2WW... there are already some positive faces on the June testing thread

Hi ladies,

Jo, how are you feeling? Hope you're surviving the 2ww.

Thanks for your support everyone. My DH has been great - he was a bit disappointed (as I was), but we've realised we need to keep things in perspective. No matter what happens, this "quest" is only one aspect of our relationship and lives (albeit an important and at the moment all-consuming one!).

Heather, do you mind me asking what sort of fertilisation problems you had? Is that why you're trying ICSI next?

Well, I hope I'll have an ET tomorrow to tell you about. If not we'll just chalk this one up to experience and see where we go from here. :?

Hi Deanne

You sound a bit brighter. You are right about this being only one aspect of our lives, I just think the intensity of the process forces you to become really single minded for a time. I don't think the drugs help at all either. I am sure everything will be fine today and you can move on to yet another stage of the waiting game.

We only had 4 eggs collected and of those only 2 fertilised. The embryologist explained that there were sperm binding issues...ie the sperm were not binding to the protein of the egg. DH had excellent results from sperm analysis so this came out of left field and although I believe there is a test available to check this, my clinic do not routinely perform this test. This is probably why we have not managed to conceive naturally also and why we are doing ICSI this time around.

Best of luck for today, I will keep everything crossed for you and DH.

HI gals,

Heather, I've never heard of sperm binding issues??, should mean that ICSI will have much more positive results I'd imagine..amazing what they can test for and treat these days isn't it!!

Deanne, agree with the other girls, it really does only take one..AM thinking lots of positive thoughts for you..please let us know how embie transfer goes today!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, we're taking it easy, I have a cold, Annie has a cough and I have my father in law staying with us, is all a bit much really.

Take care
Belinda

Hi all,

Well, our one precious embie did hang on and so we made it to ET. Our Dr said it's doing everything it's supposed to, so we should have a chance of a pregnancy. Really we're just so grateful to have got to this stage after yesterday's disappointment. We were expecting to get a phone call this morning telling us not to bother coming in. So it was a huge thrill when we got to see our little embie under the microscope - two squishy-looking cells. Another egg fertilised late yesterday but it's developing slowly and while they're going to continue to culture it, they're not sure if it will survive.

Our Dr was as disappointed as we were with the fertilisation rate. He said it must either have been an unexpected sperm problem (DH's looked fine under the microscope, but they might have had trouble getting through the egg), or my eggs could be hard-shelled. We reckon it's a combination of both!! As you said Heather, this would explain why we weren't having any luck ttc naturally! Anyway, he's fairly hopeful that ICSI will give us an improved fertilisation rate next time, so we were happy to hear that.

DH is working from home today and my family arrive later, so I'm now looking forward to the weekend. I'm being very realistic about this transfer, but am feeling so much better.

This thread has been so great for me - I want to thank you all again for being here and being so supportive. It means a lot.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Catch you next week,
Deanne

Hi Deanne,

Fantastc that you have had that precious little embie transferred. Right about now it's floating about in that thick London fog (my clinic nurses description not mine) looking for a warm place to bed down for the next nine months. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Annie and I send lots of baby dust your way!

Have a great weekend, and remember, it only takes one!!

Deanne, glad to hear everything went so well today. You can....I mean you must relax a bit now! I hope that novel is thick enough to tide you over for the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your support also, I love this thread and find all the info swapping and mindless banter really helps. Take it easy and I really hope that embie is making itself at home. Best wishes to you and DH.

Have a great weekend everyone
Heather

Jo...are you ok? Hope all is well with you also and that you are managing to stay sane through the 2ww. :D

Hi ladies,

Hope you're all having a nice and relaxing weekend as I write this. Thanks again for your wishes.

Bel, I hope you and Annie are feeling better now (over your coughs and cold?).

Heather, I meant to thank you for the info on your fertilisation issue. We could very well have something similar. It's good to know that ICSI can provide us with a really positive chance, isn't it?

I've had enough of being house-bound this weekend so am hitting the shops soon with my DH and folks. They've been trying to keep me sitting on the couch but I can't sit still any longer! I have been taking it pretty easy though. I think the progesterone is causing me some endo-like twinges. Someone mentioned it could aggravate the endo symptoms - arrgggh. But overall I'm feeling fine.

Looking forward to hearing how your weekends have been.

Cheers

Deanne,

I hadn't heard that about Progesterone..the good news though is that pregnancy and breastfeeding will actually improve your endo, so that's definately something to look forward to!!

Annie and I are doing OK. She woke up at 5am absolutely ravenous this morning, I think she is breathing through her mouth at present and was probably really dry..She gets a really cute little cough, red eyes and a runny nose, but is doing OK. They say breastfed babies expreince less serious colds and that they are shorter in duration so that's certainly in our favour..

How are you coping with the 2ww thus far???..I found it absolute torture each and every time..have you started boob bashing yet (checking whether your breasts are sensitive????)

Hi All

Belinda, you made me lol about the 'boob bashing'. I can totally relate to that and I am sure that any soreness was self inflicted only. Glad to hear that you and Annie are feeling a bit better. I can just picture Annie with her sniffles and red nose.....I bet she looked cute. Was DH ill also or did he have the job of looking after you both? Hope he was quick with the chicken soup and the box of kleenex! Take it easy and get well.

Deanne, so glad that you are feeling better. It must be nice to have your family around as a bit of a distraction and nice also to have them fussing over you. Hope the shopping trip didn't do too much damage....I love shopping but we don't have any....I am very envious. I hope your test date comes around very quickly.

Barbara, please pass on my best wishes to Donna for tomorrow. I hope those numbers have increased like crazy and that she is very pregnant.

Jo...hope you are doing well and haven't gone totally insane yet. Not long to go now. I hope that your test date comes around really quickly also.

MissMolly, did you enjoy your days off and is the arm and shoulder any better? If you have returned to work, take it easy and only offer support to little patients. :D

Tiger...where are you? Hope you are so busy having fun that you just haven't had time to long on.

Have a great week folks

Hi gals,

Heather, Annie and I are doing OK, I'm actually feeling a lot better today, much less snuffly which is great. Johnie was home all weekend and looked after "his girls" beautifully, he even cooked brekky on the barbie on Sunday morning!!!..Annie is still sniffly, I have bought a nose mucous extractor (no joke!) from the pharmacy which she just hates, can't blame her really, but really does make it easier for her to breath, particularly before a feed (hard to suck and breathe at the same time!!)..

Donna, please let us know how your numbers are going, I have everything crossed for you that they're doing the right thing and doubling as we speak (type!?)

Deanne, hope the 2ww is going OK and that you had a good old shop, I believe shopping is a very therapeutic experience (I really can justify almost anything) and therefore conducive to positive IVF outcomes.

Tiger, are you still in Japan?????, when are you back in Australia?

Jo, where are you up to in the 2ww??, must be getting closer to the day of truth..stay away from those horrid home pregnancy tests now won't you!!!

Miss Molly, how are you going??, is the arm any better??

Gotta run, I can hear my little girl waking up from her sleep..

Take care all
Belinda
