Hiya D ...

It sounds like you have made a good start to the month. I wish someone'd sort out my garden. Well, it's more like a foot sq of soil, but I can't even manage that ..!

Well ... I've been doing some reading and my little book says I should work on 6 small meals/snacks per day ... rather than starving and stuffing myself. so, I've stuck a rather LARGE note up at work saying I must eat something nutritious at 8.30am, 10.30am, 12.30 pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm - and I've achieved it today.

Also, got tons of files together to bring home from work with me tonight, as I really need to catch up ... Got as far as the car, turned around and took them back. No more evening working. That's positive !

Anyone else ??

Fruit for lunch today....then spoilt it with a chinese take away as i finished work late and couldnt be arsed to cook.

Does any1 else find it's hard to cook healthy when getting in late from work.... I am too tired to stand in the kitchen all night!!!

Funny, I’ve been eating healthily for quite a few months now but seem to lose any weight. I’ve weighed the same for years. That said, I’m happy with how I am (but do need to lose my bingo-wings and could lose some weight off my hips).

Sand, the eating small meals thing is good – there’s a guy in my office who lost loads of weight doing exactly that, and he is religious (to be point of being anal) about eating small meals at set times. I’ve started to follow this a bit by eating a small breakfast at 7am before I go to work, eating a second b’fast around 9am, small lunch around 1pm and then snack on almonds and berries until I go home. Apparently it keeps your metabolism and energy levels at a higher rate, therefore burning more calories. If nothing else, eating regularly keeps you from feeling fatigue which is what leads to reaching for the biscuits for a sugar high!

I baked some organic wholemeal & walnut bread last night, so had 2 slices toast this am with honey; then a large bowl of muesli, banana and berries for b’fast no. 2. Another banana just now, and meeting a friend for lunch so will hopefully have some protein – fish or chicken.

Dinner tonight will be frittata – eggs, new potatoes and asparagus.

Anyone following the GI diet in the Sunday Times? Very interesting what they had to saw. Strawberries are great for blood-flow apparently. New potatoes have a lower GI than baked (ie better) and eggs are a great source of protein and Omega-3.

Yesterday I went for a speed walk with some buddies.

I finished painting the trim, which allows me some peace of mind.

Alas, I cheated with a chocolate bar :(

Goal for today - jogging after work, and finish some outstanding data input.

Have a wonderful day ladies!

I have finally ordered the Zita West book - can't wait for it to arrive. I have also been trying my hardest to be healthy, but breaking the rules sometimes. I gave up coffee before last treatment cycle, but started it again after the -ve. I am going to coffee detox starting as of now!!! Wish me luck.

Good luck with the coffee withdrawls Miss Molly.

I'll keep my post short and sweet as I'm in a down-mood (noisy neighbours) and don't need to spread it around.

Today:
1. a slow 50min walk
2. hours of active housework, scrubbing floors etc.

How have I missed this thread all this time? I love reading and sharing health and weight-loss tips. Great idea, Debra!

I'll post yesterday's good things, since today isn't over yet.
1) Stayed under 1100 calories for the day
2) Treadmill for 20 minutes; Arm/stomach exercizes for 20 minutes

Tip to Share:
When I find myself facing a large meal (as in eating out), I only eat the very middle out of everything and leave the rest. This way I end up eating only about half, but it's the BEST half!!! You should see the funny looking omelets, burrito plattors, pasta dishes, etc. that I push away at the table when I'm done! They have holes in the middle. And the pancakes!!!! My dh just laughs! Works!

Great idea Randa!! I already do that with sandwiches and toast, and get lots of comments!

I am being very bad  . I am typing whilst drinking a coffee!!!! It will be my only one for the day - I swear!!!! If I go cold turkey, I get headaches. My eating is ok, but I need to work on the exercise thing a lot. I plan on going for a nice walk today. Happy birthday Joanne.

Everyone is doing really well

Missmolly - probably best to cut back gradually than to just give up - I know DH gets really bad headaches if he just stops

Debra - soo sorry about your neighbours it can really get you down, hope you are feeling better today

Well I have given up on the gym (because of the cold) but I am managing to stick to eating well. I am counting WW points it is the only way I found works for me, I know it doesn't work for everyone.

Goal for the weekend to go for at least one walk for at least 1 hour

Keep up the good work

Joanne - happy birthday - enjoy your day :D
