I was just curious as to when to tell others (friends) that you are pregnant? We have told our close family but I am not sure when it is really safe to come out with the news. My thought is 8-10 weeks.

The general opinion I have always been given is wait until 12 weeks - the end of the first trimester - as this is usually the hardest part. Once you are 12 weeks you fall into a lower risk category. My Doctor has told me that you are a lot safer after 12 weeks.
Obviously it has to be your choice and you should do it when you feel comfortable and ready.
I expect you are so happy you just want to shout it from those roof-tops - can't say I blame you
We told immediate family after about 2 weeks or so, then we went ahead and told everyone around 8-10 weeks. It was too hard keeping the news quiet at that point, and our parents were just bursting to tell others (in many ways they were worse than we were). It's a tough secret to keep. My goal was to wait until after the first trimester, but that would have been way to difficult.

Me (35) Premature Ovarian Failure DH (33) OK
IVF Aug 04 -ive, IUI Oct 04 -ive, IUI Dec 04 +ive!!! Hannah Bryce is 18 months!
and everone was so happy but concerned as well (just as we were!)
we were, during the whole IVF - 4 failed IVF, 5 cryos failed as well- very open to our envirement.
the big advantage I think is that you can count on support and understanding...
so they shared the bad times, they may share the good times too!
but everyone is different, do what You think is best!!
All of our family and friend knew what we were going through. There was really no way for us to keep it a secret. Everyone would call us all the time and ask us if we had any news. So we told everyone right away. I'm not sure I would have been able to keep it a secret anyway. We were so excited.
Everyone feels differently about this. If it was not my first and I had not been trying for so long, I would have probably waited until after the 1st trimester.
Thanks for all your feedback. It is sure hard to keep a secret. We've decided to wait 8-10 weeks if we can make it that long!

I am desperate to tell everyone but DH keen to wait until end of 1st trimester-so we're waiting. My mum and 2 friends know only.
Yesterday was really hard as met friend for lunch (she is 17 wk PG) and she had her scan picture with her. Well we'd just been for our 7 week scan and I almost blurted out our news. However I managed to hold my tongue but it was tough.
I figure that DH and I are going to enjoy the next few weeks of excitement by ourselves and then tell the world!
At the end of the day you should just do what feels right for you and what makes you happy.
I can understand your feelings. We told family and close friends the day we got a positive as they knew that we were testing anyway, and to be honest after so many attempts there is no way I could have not! However that weekend my SIL forced us into telling a whole load of people at her husbands 40th bithday which I was really upset about, but thats another story!. We had a scan at 6 +1 and could see there were 2 hb, however we still didnt tell anyone else. My next scan was at 9wks and then we saw the two dancing around and decided to tell everyone!!
I think it is up to you when you tell people, and until you are pregnant you really cant decide! I have found lots of times that the things I 'thought' I would do prior to actually getting pg go out the window once you are!! I also figured that should the worst have happened and I had lost the pregnancy I would have been so upset I would have needed the support of those closest to me, hence telling them straight away.
I wish you both happy and healthy pregnancys.
Lots of love
