Unfortunately this is not going to be the CHOSEN ONE! I was not impressed with the actual surgery, was less impressed by the consultant´s 11 yr old son greeting me at reception doing his homework, throughly pissed off with 45 min wait (our appointment was at 830pm) and totally put off when he told me that nothing could improve dh sperm quality and that taking vitamins would be a futile exercise!!!!!!!!!!! It all just seemed so unprofessional.
However I do not see it as a wasted exercise. I had a smear test and one of those scans which I had never had before and had built up to being something horrific. So I realized that it wasn´t so bad and feel far more relaxed about the whole thing.
He has told me to have a couple of blood test which I might do anyway out of curiosity but I am going to make an appointment with another clinic for friday which comes highly recommended and in fact a friend of DH and his wife are currently being treated there. So if all goes to plan I hope to be starting in september yipee.
Have told my boss that I can not go back to teaching full time at the academy and she told me I could do as little or as much as I wanted (somehow I think i shall opt for the little side!!) I intend to take up yoga, go swimming everyday and salsa classes in the evening. I FEEL SO POSITIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING.. and I´ll tell you girlies one thing - a lot is down to you all.
Thanks for being so supportive.

Another blood test done today and a scan - saw a few follicles, well at least that's what the consultant saw - as for me, it's just a few black splodges
Really need that Follie Fairy to pay a visit and the Endo Elf to do his stuff. Please, please, please ....... drinking loads of fluid - they've told me to drink more than the 4 litres I'm already doing, OMG where do I put it
Anyway, how's everyone else - are you all coping with your various stages?
Daisy, sorry to hear the clinic didn't work out, better luck with #2. The scan is a bit odd isn't it? DH has a name for it but it is a bit rude so I won't share it...Australian men can be a bit crass!
LittleP, good to know that some black blobs showed up on your scan. I believe that the Folly Fairy and the Endo Elf are just waiting for the in-laws to go so they can set up house in your guest room....treat them well and you will be rewarded!
Hope you are all keeping well and are looking forward to a whole new week!
Cheers

I'm 39 so qualify ... but sadly will be 40 in October! Have to say that for the first time I will be glad to be 40 as means that, if my 3rd cycle fails, I will be able to have 3 embies put back in next time! (As you can see I'm not one for PMA).
I switched off my profile, but briefly I'm 39, DH 34 and it's male factor (DH had hernia op when young which seems to be the culprit here). First ICSI Nov 04 +ve with an early m/c; 2nd April 05 -ve. Each time I get 5-day blastos. Just been tested to find that I have slightly higher than normal NKC that in a natural pregnancy would not cause problems but that in IVF could cause problems with implantation/keeping the pg.
31st Oct. Yes, they tested me for NKC and also for the 'blood flow' problems - anticardiolipins and anti-coagulants. There are 3 types of NKC and I'm within the normal range for 2 of them and am higher than normal for the 3rd. This would be OK for a natural pregnancy, but possibly not for IVF since the embryo is detected by the NKC as an external object. Bit like an organ transplant being rejected by the body as it doesn't recognise it, hence why steroids are used.
Consultant has told me the short-term effects of steroid use are weight gain - so that's me off to buy new kaftans for the summer! Though it could potentially be just a 2 week use (from EC to pg test), a BFP means taking them the first 3 months of a pg. The nurse told me they've got a couple of women who have high levels of NKC who are now pg so I'm relieved to hear that.
Ok.....in the spirit of sports telecasts where everything has a camera.....stump cam, ball cam, line cam, etc......he has named it dildo cam! Hope that didn't offend anyone.
I live in sunny Rockhampton in Central Queensland or the Beef Capital of Australia as the locals like to call it! It is about 650km north of Brisbane. Which parts of Qld did you visit? I love the tropical north like Cairns, Port Douglas or the Sunshine Coast in the south around Noosa and Maroochydore. Not quite sure how we ended up here! We moved here about 6 years ago and thought we would only stay a couple of years, unfortunately DH absolutely loves what he is doing here and is reluctant to shift....one day maybe!
Happy Monday All

I did the normal touristy thing and stuck to the coast. Very unadventurous although I did work inland on a sheep station (I have no idea what it was called-shall look it up though. All the places you mentioned I visited and north of Cairns too.
PS the way I was describing the scan to my friends was a vibrator that didn´t vibrate and reached places not no man I have ever come across has reached!!!
What time is it down under. It´s 2 pm here now (Spain)
