September Buddies

Post by Tracii »

Anyone looking at September to start their IVF cycle??

Originally I planned to do the 2. round in July but after discussing with DH due to the family holiday and his work schedule July doesn't look to be feasible. Plus my clinic goes on holiday the entire month of August so I don't want to be rushed during my cycle to complete everything or to abandon the cycle due to the clinic closing. The second reason for waiting for September...my Acu doc believes I have a lot more work to do in getting my blood flowing better. I have had 2 sessions so far but she thinks it will take longer. I feel it would make more sense to get blood flowing to help nourish the womb before starting the next treatment.

So if any of you know or plan to start September timeframe I would love to have some company! :D

Hi Traci, I have my first appt on 1st Sept in Barcelona for tmt with donor eggs and hope to get started pretty soon after that so I'll keep you company! They too are closed July/August so 1st Sept is the very first one I could get.
Agree much better to do it when you feel ready not rush into anything. I am using June/July/August to get DH sperm in tip top condition! (or at least a bit better than they have been anyway) and I too am having acupuncture - I've been having it since last summer and I love it, makes me really relaxed and has got my periods back to sensible length of time too which they weren't before so it must be able to help with all the other bits as well.
Speak soon

Me & DH both 41
ICSI #1 - abandoned
#2 - cancelled - DH accident

#8 - DE UK - bfn

Hi Kat, This is great! We can trade acu stories and get ready together for September. I still can not relax too much during acu..maybe the next time. Do you also get the moxibustion?

Hi Traci ... Good to see you back (although I know it's short lived and you're off to Vienna again soon ..)

I'm not sure when I'll be cycling again yet, but hoping maybe around Sep/Oct time ..?? I'm changing clinics, so a lot of work to do with the new clinic first ..

Hi Tracii,

I’ve sent you a PM about acupuncture but I think something must be wrong with my msg system as it gets stuck in the Outbox without being sent. I wondered if you’d be starting the treatment in July or would put it off a bit given what your acu lady said. I’m still on for July all being well but would also prefer to wait until Sept / Oct as I’ll be 40 then so could have 3 put back! Also, our travel schedule is hectic this summer. We were in Italy last w/end, are in Paris this coming w/end, then back to Italy on Weds – basically we are flying every other w/end and it’s really not that great for me in terms of getting rest. Based on when we thought I’d be starting down-regging, we’ve booked ourselves 10 days home in Italy at end August (when I could either be celebrating a +ve or feeling desperate about a –ve) but have just found out that we have to spend 3 of those precious days (our only holiday this year) travelling to a wedding. Whatever the result, all this travel is not conducive to getting the rest I need! I would have very much liked to have put off treatment for the summer, but DH wanted us to crack on straightaway!

I think you are doing the right thing. You’ve got a few months to get in tip-top condition and feel totally rested and rejuvenated before you start again.

Hi there

Yep, I hope to start in sept. I´m going to visit another clinic on friday so hopefully will confirm then. It will be my first time so it will be great to have some company.

One question- I have seen quite a few of you ladies talking about treatment in Barcelona, is there any specific reason?

Hi Girls,

Looks like I will be Joining you in September. Finally chose a clinic and I am happy with them. I have to take some more blood tests. I don't know about you but the blood tests for me are very stressful, waiting for the results. Got my Cystic fibrosis test back NEG so I ma happy about that. My husband is now having some chromosome tests done due to the severe male factor. Good luck to everyone and talk to you all soon. We need a great name girls.....
Any Ideas?

Daisy, on the Barcelona thing I think a few women have opted for treatment there because there is no waiting list and they offer donor eggs – I could be wrong but from what I recall donor eggs are not illegal there. Not that I’ve got to that stage yet, but donor eggs are illegal in Italy (they are currently holding a referendum on the subject on which of course the liberal Catholic church is hugely opposed to), whilst in the UK there is a waiting list especially since the rules got changed and there is no longer guaranteed anonymity for sperm and egg donation. Taylorjools has just come back from Barcelona with a BFP.

Dancola ... (The way I think it works anyway ... ) is that the pm will sit in your Out Box until Traci opens the message. At that point it'll move to your Sent Box.

Ah ... that's what happens is it? In that case I deleted the messages I sent as assumed there was a problem! Thanks for explaining.

Thought I would just pop in and see how you are all getting on - I didn't want you to get lost off the page.

Hope you are all well.

Daisy, re. Barcolona and just to add to what Dancola said, quite a few other countries in Europe don't allow donor eggs (Germany, Norway amongst others) plus Spanish clinics can pay their donors ensuring a good supply, which isn't the norm elsewhere eg. the UK.

There have been two recent pgs on the boards from the same clinic in Barcelona, both aged 40+, so it's been mentioned quite a bit on here. There was also a 40+ pg on here recently from a clinic in Kiev.

Thanks Dancola (Nicola, got used to thinking of you as the former now) and thanks Debra. My next step will be Madrid or Barcelona if I am not happy about the next one on my list.

The last clinic I visited told me that EC would be done under general anesthetic (spelling?) which as far as I gather is not normal. According to another person I spoke to their sister had it under gen an so I am beginning to wonder if it is common practice down south.
