Daisy

Wish I felt like her sometimes

IVIG is what I am having to help with the treatment of the Natural Killer Cells.

I will be attached to a drip for nearly 4 hours and they will feed this solution into my body which will coat the NK cells and hopefully stop them from causing another miscarriage.

Fingers are crossed as you can imagine.

How you are ok.

Dear All

I am late to the board this evening but had to log on before bedtime!

I have had a quick scan (of the posts!) and everyone seems fine - I am too tired to reply to you all but good luck with the next step in your plans!

I am a happy bunny :D because AF has arrived big and strong! So I wont be on buserelin forever, and hopefully when I go for my scan next Tues I can start patches as I will have a thin endo and then I can thicken it for my frosties! DH doesnt like to talk about these details! My colleagues at work helped me celebrate AF with biscuits at break. HA ha!!!

hello

Post by pixiesmom »

I haven't really posted on here, it's easier to keep myself distracted & not think about ivf all the time, but I am wondering why it seems that so many of you in the UK do your treatments so differently than here in the Us. After reading so many posts about all of your preparations I am wondering why my Dr. just puts me on bc pills for 2 weeks & then follistim. Does that sound normal to everyone. I am just really getting stressed with ec in 2 days & a a failed cycle in March. It's so hard for me to stay positive. How do all of you do it. I haven't been given any diet to follow. Do you have any suggestions for me?

pixiesmom,

I know thatq it seems like the UK girls get more treatement but there are alot of differences between here ( US ) and the UK. I think in some cases they monitor the girls alot more in the UK .
I didn't do the EC as I have donor eggs, but I feel like I am on tons of meds Errrrr.

From being on here for a while I do see that there are major differences in the meds that are used. I don't think it is a bad thing either way though.

Do you mind me asking why you used both donor eggs & sperm? I am wondering because I conceived my 3 children with my dh without fertility treatment of 16 years & we have been ttc for 6 years. All of my tests & his are normal, but I had ivf 2 mos. ago & only 5 embies that the Dr let grow until day 6 & none were put back because the 2 that were viable of day 5 arrested on day 6. I am wondering if it is a result of my eggs & if I am wasting my time & money using my own eggs. I am 36. I know it costs more to use donor eggs & I am afraid that the donor wouldn't do what she's supposed to as far as the meds go. It's hard enough for those of us who want a baby & I just wonder what if they skipped a shot or didn't
t time it right. Do you have any info.? If this cycle doesn't work I might use donor eggs. Thanks

we did donor eggs because I am bipolar and I didn't want to take the chance of passing it on. And DH doesn't have any swimmers lol
We figured it's just like having an adopted child only if it all works out I will be the one giving birth.
We had to wait until day 5 for transfer and we had 2 that were good and none to freeze because the 4 that were left didn't make it until day 6 like the doc had hoped for.

Were you confident in the donor? My Dr says because we had 3 kids together that our chances are 95%, but we ended up with nothing the last time.

Sandra

Thanks for your message - no scan, but I am having the IVIG today (the drip thingy for 3.5 hours), I think this means that EC will either be Sunday or Monday

I hope that you are ok and not working too hard.

Take care

Thanks LP .. (I'm soooo glad it's Friday ... off to work in a minute then a whole 2 days off ! ..)

I hope the IVIG goes to plan ... It doesn't sound too pleasant, but I'm sure it won't hurt. Make sure you take a good book with you (and some nibbles !).

Look forward to hearing how it went tonight.

LittleP, all go, go, go for you. I hope the IVIG goes really well and is not too tedious....or painful! Will you find out today when EC is? It seems like an age since you started all your testing and the like but it is coming to crunch time now. How exciting. Take it easy today and I will keep my fingers crossed that everything works out well.

Sand, glad to read that you are ok. It must be great to have finally made a decision about your clinic and to have a plan for the future. I think this can help to pull you out of the doldrums and move forward. I know that focusing on a new cycle helped me get over the disappointment of the last one. Hope you are keeping well and enjoying the good life for a while.

Pixiesmom, I am having treatment in Australia and I think we get even less monitoring than you. I am currently on BCP and will start sniffing on about day 18. Will then sniff for two weeks during which I will have a blood test to see if I have downregged then will start Gonal F (stimming). After seven days of stimming I will have an ultrasound (this will be the first time I see the doctor) and another blood test. Then a few days later will have EC and then ET. Then don't see the doctor again until a follow-up appointment after a BFN or an 8 week scan following a BFP. I think you guys have more blood tests and scans than us. Hope this helps.

Avagoodweekend as we say downunder.

hi all and hope everyone's having a good day. Little P, you won't be reading this as you'll be hooked up to your drip but I hope it's going well for you.

Pixiesmom, I hope EC goes well for you tomorrow (?). I don't think that anyone can guarantee you a 95% chance in any one particular cycle of IVF. He must have meant that overall, if you give it a few goes, those are your chances. You could also talk to them about putting the embies back after 2 days, which I think is more standard, rather than waiting for a day 5 or 6 transfer (over here we'd pay more for that!). It is really hard to stay calm and also really easy to read something here and worry about it if it's not what you're doing. I do that all the time! I think a lot of people get info from other sources (such as the Zita West book that a lot of people go on about it) rather than from their clinic, which often don't mention diet, for example.

Also, the amount of monitoring varies a lot here in the UK too. I'm at my second clinic and last time I was monitored very often, whereas this time there are some set appointments at pretty much the same intervals that Heather mentioned. Being monitored every day, twice a day at a the end, didn't stop me ending up in intensive care last time though (admittedly with a very rare complication), so it doesn't automatically follow that it makes a difference. Ironically when I was being monitored all the time, I had a journey of about 100 miles each way and now I have a journey of less than 20 miles!

I'm on day 10 of down regging and still waiting for AF. On a normal cycle I'd have expected it yesterday or maybe today or Saturday, but I thought with the down regging medication (suprefact, in my case) it was s'posed to happen sooner. Anyone know what's normal in terms of AF coming when down regging? I'm starting to fret a tiny bit in case my stimming gets delayed - it's due to start on Wed. AF must have turned up by then, surely?

Anyway, must stop obsessing.

hello to everyone else
