I'm expecting to have egg collection tomorrow morning, 6/10, and the clinic will let me know next day if any egg hatched; my scheduled transfer will be on 6/13.
This is my first cycle. The doctor said that my body had responded medication very well so I have more than 20 eggs this time; but I'm not very optimistic about the 30% pregenancy rate from the clinic. Also I had a miscarrage 5 years ago for my very first pregnancy; I don't know what to do to keep the embroyes alive after the transfer and during the waiting period. Would bed rest help? I plan to have a few days off after the transfer, but I still afraid that any daily activity or wrong diet will reduce the survival rate.
There is a thread called Do's and Don'ts which you might find useful, I will bump it back up for you.
I wish you loads of luck with your EC tomorrow and I'm sure with what sounds like a very good harvest, you will have a good number of fertilised eggs to choose from - I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Take care and let us know how you get on won't you.
Can the Dr. tell how many eggs you have before ec? I am just wondering because I have my ec on Sat 6/10 & he hasn't said how many eggs. I have about 20 follicles.
I am feeling stressed. Does 20 follicles sound like a good number? What is the smallest measurement that they can get an egg out of? I have the from 13-20. How many do you have? How are you feeling? You always seem so positive.

I'm not familiar with much of the procedure since it's my first time. The doctor doesn't say much during each examination; a nurse, who is assigned coordinator of my case, explained me that they would only collect about 14-15 eggs out of 20+, and 8-10 good ones would be expected to be hatched by ICSI in lab.
They told me that having 20+ egg is too many, and some people have too little.
Pixiesmom, Your #'s sound really good. You have a lot of follicles (but not too many) and they sound like just the right size-I think they usually look for them to be in the 18-20 range, and it sounds like you've got that covered. Many say not to get too caught up in all that, though, b/c they see so much variation in sizes and # of follicles, etc. You are certainly in great shape for EC! Best of luck!
HM, welcome to this site, it is so supportive and informative. Just try not to get obsessed with it, and best of luck to you...
Little P, I agree that you must be so strong and are always here offering your advice, support, and positive vibes. Thank you.
Hi HM .. Welcome to the Site. Glad you've found us, and you will be too as the boards are an amazing support network.
Be assured that 20 follicles is good news, but not all follicles contain eggs. From the eggs collected, not all are mature (also, they have to be mega mature for ICSI). Then, of course, not all fertilise.
I see LP's bumped up the Dos and Don'ts thread for you, which is full of good tips.
Lots of luck for your EC today, and I look forward to seeing your news on how it's gone.

My EC yesterday went so far so good, and now waiting for a call from the clinic to inform me about fertilization of my eggs. They retrieved 22 ripened eggs from me yesterday, but I don't know how many follicles I had before the EC; I must had a lot. My EC # is among the most of the clinic's patients.
Two ladies I met at the clinic who did EC before me said they only retrieved 6 and 11 eggs; and the one who had 11 eggs had only 4 eggs fertilized. I feel lucky by now, hoping that if 1/3 of my eggs can be fertilized should be enough for me.
I hope they will deliver good news today; I will be back for transfer on 6/13.
My coordinator informed me that I have 17 eggs fertilized. What a good news! My first cycle sounds very smooth. I will have 14 more can be frozen for future use in case I fail the first try.
