What's the deal with salt??

Post by Kel »

Hello!

Sorry I am posting so many questions but a lot to learn!!!!

I have read about salt not being good in PG, is that because of potentially raising our blood pressure or is it bad for Baby? Just wasn't sure and wondered if anyone knew??

Thanks a lot!

Kel, I found this in 'What to expect when you're expecting'. Under a section on ankle/feet swelling:

It's no longer believed that salt restriction is wise during a normal pregnancy (though salt may be restircted for some women with high blood pressure), but excessive salt intake isn't any smarter and could increase fuluid retention.
