Wondering where to go from here

Post by Susi »

Hi,

We've finished our 1st IVf cycle ( last week ) which unfortunately did not work. I was so sad as we had hoped to be one of the lucky first timers. Am now reassessing everything and gathering up the courage to do a second round in Feb / March of next year.
What I wanted to know is does anyone know if the chances get better as you try ? Have there been more happy endings with the second or third try than the first ?

Hi Susi,

If I've not already said welcome, then I'll do so now - I bet with the number of people joining everyday you're already beginning to feel like an old timer on here.

Most IVF cycles have approximately 33% chance of working once you've passed et - we all hope that the cycle we're on is going to be the one, but you mustn't give up. So basically, the chances are that your second or third cycle might well be successful. Some are more luckier than others - but however many failures, a success could be just around the corner.

Anyway, as I'm also hoping to cycle around that time, providing af behaves herself after the ectopic, with Alison and Fi I think upto now so with any luck you'll have more than one cycle buddie to cheer you along.

Love Fiona xxx

[Edited by fiona_lk on 02-Dec-02 18:20]

Hi Susi
Sorry about your disappointment, our first time failed recently as well but my consultant keeps going on about higher success rates the more you try. No option but to believe her so good luck for attempt number two.
LOL
Terri
xxxx

Hello Susi

I was told the more you try the more chance of success - I had my second et late october and and am now 7½ weeks pregnant so thankfully for us, we tried again.

Hopefully you've got some frozen embies from your first go so the cost will be much cheaper.

GOOD LUCK!!

Sarah x

Hi Susi
Just wanted to say that like you my 1st IVF attempt failed and also like you I thought I was going to be one of the lukcy ones whos first attempt at IVF works. NOT THIS TIME.
All my hospital have said to me is that the more goes you have the better chance you have of getting pregnant but they forget about your emotions and how very hard this IVF treatment is.
Still feeling so so sorry for myself after my failed IVF even though I got my negative result on 29/10, it is taking a while to pull myself around.
Sorry to depress you girls even more.
Love Debsx
