Just wondering whether I shouldn't join this thread too. Maybe jumped up doctor has a point and I don't want it all piling back on, do I?
Had a good day yesterday and then had chocolate bar and I can see the scones and jam and clotted cream in my minds eye that are waitnig downsatirs. DH is a bit of a gourmand, so shall have my portion control work cut out. Hey ho!
NickiMark I have left you a reply on the other thread about male factor. Hot water and lemon seems too decadent. Is it a little impractical during the off to work rush? Don't want to have no lips left in a week's time. Saying that though, if the lips are gone, much harder to chew food. Excellent strategy, I shall have to try it!
Please let me know if I can be a healthy mind, healthy body buddy too. And Smita- take no notice about the chinese food thing. Look at the Chinese- slim, fit and fertile.
Lynne
Smita - As Nicola says, chinese food often contains MSG which isn't recommended whilst trying to conceive, but I'm sure an occassional dish won't harm. I actually asked my acupunturist her views last week, and she felt the same. Don't worry !

brown rice vs. wine and chocolate = hmmm, no contest
Sandra, be kind to yourself. Like many, we've had a negative recently and if we don't treat ourselves not only kindly, but to the odd treat now again, when can we do it? As soon as tmt looms we're back on the straight and narrow...I say indulge lightly now as it all goes the second we get back in the stirrups...

Sandra - I always hear that brown rice and red wine are an extremely healthy food combination ......just like a big piece of cake and diet coke...just kidding but seriously I think we all deserve to relax a bit and enjoy life...we deserve it! The odd bit of chocolate, cake, glass of wine, cup of coffee...probably helps us in the long run....our bodies do not go into shock (this is my logic anyway)
Thanks Tracii and I'm glad to see that you are women after my own heart.
I did really well yesterday, but fell by the wayside in the alcohol stakes.
I was drinking Pimms, which I thought was the healthy option, as it had bits of fruit in. Seemed healthy to me, at the time. I'm not sure Nicki agree with me though.
My head is telling me different this morning though.
I'm going to walk to the funeral today, so that's a start (not of anyone I know, just a job)! Off for my Muesli now.

Hi...does anyone know anything about pedometers? I want to buy one later this week but looking online it seems they can get very complicated. I suspect I only need a straight forward step counter....any advice??

Sorry Debra I don't know anything about pedometers. Although I know some are much better/accurate then others. Can you maybe find a review in a magazine perhaps?
Today I am heading into the mountains with a friend and we are bringing our dogs . She is also my yoga instructor and the complete opposite person from me...she is always relaxed, never worries, and enjoys every minute of life (I always envy people like this). The weather is beautiful and I can't wait to get fresh air..and some social time!
In the next couple of months I will probably be staying away from the board - only to let my mind escape a bit. I have become really obsessed with getting pregnant and find I am driving myself crazy...also DH. I want September to come around and not only my body but my mind to be fully prepared. I will check in every once in a while to see how everyone is doing but not actively participate until end of August.
I wish everyone the very, very best and look forward to seeing all the !!
Traci - Have a long, relaxing summer break. We'll all be here when you come back refreshed, fit and raring to go !
Debra .. I got mine free with the cornflakes. Needless to say it's cr*p !. I bet somewhere like Debenhams sells the basic ones - they usually have a section on small gifts.

Debra - I would say one with just a step counter would be enough - they (whoever they are!!) recommend 10 000 steps a day
Sandra - last week I was very very bad it was my birthday and wedding anniversary and I ate bad things and had wine!! Put on 1lb last week - weighing today think it will be a miracle if I stay the same!!! How is the lots of small meals idea going? Most days I stick to my points and go the gym a couple of times a week - it is not easy though. Plus today I am soooo hungry as AF started yesterday (yeah!!!)
I have been staying away from the boards for a bit trying to get on and forget all this stuff - not easy though (as I think Debra said?) especially when you are waiting for AF
Glad everyone else is ok - all we can do is our best and after the rotten times we have had I thinking diets are the last thing we want to do!!!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine

Jules, llb for both birthday and anniversary celebrations, sounds good to me! My pedometer question is some seem to work on a pendulum motion and I think are the cheaper kind, others you have to programme with your step length and I hope are more reliable. My freebie one was a complete joke.....
Traci, enjoy the mountains. It all sounds lovely and in good company. I've spent the day with DF but hardly quality time. Just dismantling an old shower corner and installing a new shower cubicle. All for our (very nice) tenant who we want to keep happy. He lives in the basement flat but he's as quiet as a mouse, is away alot and pays on time - tenants don't get much better than that I suspect. Anyway, DF sent me three times to the plumbing shop and my Norwegian plumbing vocabulary is now SO much better - lol! Yes a board break can be just the thing. Mine starts at the end of this week and whilst I'll miss the happy stories - and there are plenty - like you, I need to clear my head before starting again.
Not doing esp. well on the heathly eating but have a deal with my mum that we'll eat a salad a day for the 3 weeks we're staying with them. The Siclian food and wine will be a problem though.....what a lovely problem!
hugs
Debra.
