God... I can't believe that's how it happens with you both...do you have a local/general anaesthetic? Is it NHS or private?
I have no choice but to go private. We have had to pay for all my cycles. I fell pregnant on 2nd cycle and now am excluded from NHS funding because I already have a child...how ironic is that!
My treament plan is also mapped out to the end. I stuck to my plans for both of the 1st 2 cycles but this time I was prolonged on stimms for an extra 2 days than on the plan. My clinic only does EC and ET (and I think scans) on Mon, Wed, Fri so everything has to be geared around those days. It is a small private hospital, so the theatres have to be planned.
However, as far EC goes, it is very civilised. You are given a private 'bedroom', satellite TV, with ensuite facilities. You are taken to theatre on your bed ( DP goes off to doo his thing ), given a general and then you wake up in recovery, maybe there you may see a couple of other ladies. Then you are taken back to your room on your bed. You are given a choice of sandwiches, tea/coffee etc....usually can leave after 4 hours, although I always go before that!
Hmmmm.. .I have had several students present ( not at the same time!). I quite like it as the doctors explain everything VERY CAREFULLY for the students' benefit and generally have more time for me!
My test date is likely to be mid June - i feel like I've been hanging around forever!!

Wow - I can't believe the treatment you get Steph - sounds 5 star compared to mine! I've had to pay for my second and this (third) myself but I certainly don't get any 'special' treatment - it's exactly the same as when I had the NHS version. Lumi's right about students though - you do get the idiots guide version of ET which is great because you can pick up exactly what's going on. I think we need to investigate this facilities thing further - blow the success rates, give me satelite TV and a plate of sandwiches anyday!! (Joke) What does everyone else get? Whoops sorry - this probably isn't place to chat cos of test dates thread but hope no-one minds - if not we could start another thread - 'How to get 5 star standards during fertility treatment' - we could start our own star categories!

Third ICSI July 2005 BFP and praying it continues!! 6, 8, 12, 13(Nuchal) 20, 25 and 28 week scans successful! Emily Ann Cane born 8.4.06 - more beautiful than we could have imagined
I hate to say this, Cheryl, but my clinic has also has the 2nd best success rate in the UK, as printed in the Daily Mail a few weeks ago...It's the Woking Nuffield...I went there 2 years ago for my 1st 2 cycles as it was the nearest to my home, and the consultant, who was seeing me on the NHS, also ran the private side...so I automatically chose it. I had heard his success rates were good then but couldn't believe it when I saw that article recently.
Just thought I'd say that I am at a NHS/Private clinic and my treatment is between the experiences given - probably 3 star!!! I dont get a room but very nice treatment along with 6 others on a ward !! Do get sandwiches though!!!

just adding to the * - ***** debate. My clinic is a one-man band and I love the fact that I've seen the same Dr + nurses throughout all our treatments. The Bio-Engineers (BE) changed once but I've had +ves since so I wasn't too upset. Mind you, the previous BE was the mother of a school friend of DF, small town! We get lovely 1:1 treatment as there's only one tmt room, never see another soul except maybe in the waiting room now and again plus home made apple cake for after EC. Can't fault it.
The clinic is only 3 years old, we had their third live birth and first baby girl so they treat us like gold as they really, really want a sibling born as do we.......
Good luck all you July testers.......
Debra.
