cramps yikes....

Post by Megan17 »

I feel like I spend a lot of time asking silly questions, but I'm a 1st timer and I am very unsure. Today's topic is cramps. I am 7 days passed ET, and I started having some very mild cramping Saturday night. It is less like a cramp and more like pressure from the inside. It feels sort of Aunt Flowish, but milder, and days ahead. Has anyone else had this or heard of someone having this and still getting a BFP? It goes away when I sit down, and is totally absent in the AM, but it's scary, and I hate the 2ww....

Hi Megan,
Like the others told me, no question is too silly for this forum:)
When I was on the 2ww, I had cramps daily- from the day of ET almost- some days it'd be sharp along with lower back pain and I'd get really worried, but I went on to a BFP on 17th:)

Still continue to have those pains- sometimes even one sided- still very anxious as its like a dream to me..
And till tuesday when the doc rules out an ectopic, I gotto wait! Hope this reassures you a bit- and oh, i even spotted for 3 days just on the day my AF was due and was in tears cause I thought all had ended- I've always been regular- spotted for 3 days- or so- was on a roller coaster.. still am

Hi, Firstly, Smita good luck for the scan, you must be nervous and excited, loads of baby dust to you xxx

Megan, funny thing is, both silly questions you've asked - I have wondered!!! I also had the first loo problem and I now have cramps in my tummy, usually through the night they wake me up and I have been having lower back ache???? I don't get these symptoms for AF, I know it's different because of the drugs. This is my 4 th attempt and I am still asking questions so don't appologise for the questions, it's good to hear others experiencing the same - we are normal after all

Hope all goes well , loads of baby dust xxxxxxx

Thanks to you both so much. Unfortunatley the cramps are getting a bit stronger, so I am feeling fairly certain that the IVF has failed. But I can always try again. I just wish AF would start so I can truly grieve and just get on with it. She's do on Friday and then I'm going to have the biggest glass of wine ever. Anyway, thanks again. Infertility is so isolating and it helps a lot to know that I am not alone. Truckloads of baby dust to you both. :)

Megan, I truely think you shouldn't read too much into your cramps. I had my first go last month and my 2ww was hell. I read every thing I felt, every niggle and pain and cramp etc.... I had a BFN but because I thought these pains etc,,,, were different to ever before, I was so positive I was over positive and when Af came i came down to earth with a bump and boy did it hurt.

I truely hope that these cramps are a good sign for you but just let it be and what will be, will be.

Good Luck with your test date, but between now and then try to keep your mind active and thoughts on other things.

Hugs Nicola x x

I had my first IUI in March. I felt cramps and lower back pain, and it was a BFP. Unfortunately it resulted in m/c, but I don't think the two were connected.

Just wait, I know its hard.

Megan

I got really bad AF cramps all afternoon and evening before my +ve test.
I was so upset, everytime I went to the loo almost wishing it to start so it would put me out of my misery. I now get AF type cramps for a short time every day, sometimes stronger than others, but I have now got used to them! I am now 10 wks 2 dys, so please dont worry too much - it can be a good sign.
Take care and good luck!!

I finally broke down and called my Doc and he says they are actually ovarian cramps rather then uterine. At first I thought he was full of dung because he has no ovaries or uterus so how does he know what cramps feel like.... but even though they feel like AF cramps, they are slightly more to the right and a bit in my back, so I think he may be right. Apparently progesterone causes cramps and unless there's bleeding it has no bearing on the test results. Who knew? I feel a bit foolish for getting so down in my earlier post, but I am feeling optimistic that the pain may indicate increasing progesterone. So, it is my new personal goal that in the absence of bleeding I am all about PMA until my test on Sunday or Monday. Thanks again all and more truckloads of baby dust.

There should be a medal of some sort for all who survive the 2ww...

Well done Megan - at least you know what it could be now and you might be able to relax a bit. I have to say, it is soooo hard not looking into every twinge isn't it. My first time I had every symptom, infact if you told me that a sore toe was a definate + I would have the sorest toe in the world!! I did get a - tive though so have always tried not to look into things, although this is my 4th time I have never had back ache like this before and it was nice to read what it could be??? I couldn't understand how back ache could be connected?

Anyway, loads of PMA and baby dust to everybody, I have nearly done 1 week now, it has actually flown by, next week will be the drag I'm sure x

Megan

Yes, the progesterone is VERY naughty  . It gives you so many feeliongs that you just cant tell what is what. Lets face it - most natural pregnancies dont really have symptoms at this early stage - not to the extent our doses of progesterone makes us feel!

I had cramps but felt SO different to normal I felt 'pregnant' - but had
-ve. I have learned you just cant tell!

Relax and wait, that's what I intend to do this time! :D Don't feel foolish - the drugs make us so emotional and i know how desperate we feel for news

post ivf cramping

Post by cherylesq »

All, I'm 3 days post ET and I began having dull cramps similar to the kind of cramps i feel at the very onset of my period before the cramps get intense. I am on 200mg of progesterone capsules that i insert 3 times per day. im freaking out because i hear that cramps are never good. other that this chat forum, EVERYTHING I've seem to find on the internet indicates that cramps after ivf procedure (during our 2ww) is not positive.

This is discouraging and depressing because it's been over 24 hours now and these dull baby cramps are persistent and sometimes get stronger in 'waves'. So much so, that i took 2 tylenol at the advice of my doctor... but i think they just dont want to tell me that cramps are truly a bad sign.

Am i being too negative? If so, how can these cramps mean anything positive?

Hi name-buddy,

You must try and relax and try to just let things happen as they're meant to (easier said than done I know). The worst cramps I experienced were in my positive cycle - the first two cycles I had very mild cramping on some days, on my third (and successful) cycle I had excrutiating period pains around day 5 and then nothing until I had it again around day 12 - turns out I was pregnant and suffering with OHSS! Don't stress about anything - what I've learnt on here is that anything goes and just cos someomne else might say cramping is bad, it was a great sign for me. Every cycle is different so don't give up and try not to read too much into comparing yourself with others.

I really hope this is the time for you,

Best wishes,
Cherylxxx
