Hi gals,

Many thanks for the good wishes.

Miss Molly, glad you're coping with the 2ww - not too much longer for you now and I hope the Aussies & Kiwis thread brings you an extra dose of good luck too.

Josie, it must be a relief to have told all the inner circle. We told my family and best friends last night (the ones who knew we were on an IVF cycle) and will tell DH's family today. But other than that we'll obviously wait a while.

Bel, you're so right - I'm now ten times more anxious than I was before yesterday. The idea of waiting 3 weeks without further confirmation seems impossible - is it stupid to think about doing a home test in another week or so??

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. We're about to take the puppy out for a walk before it gets too cold so I'll catch you later.

Deanne,

I did a few home pregnancy tests to be honest, overwhelmingly because I had done so many of the darned things whilst ttc (pre-ivf) that were of course always negative..I really wanted to see that two lines can actually come up..when they do it is a beautiful sight..I kept mine from Annie's pregnancy for ages (then got grossed out by the idea of a peed on stick sitting in amongst my socks so chucked it out!!!)..Your first scan is very exciting, to see that little smudge of a thing with a heartbeat is just fabulous..You then get highly addicted to scans and want one ALL the time. When I was ultimately referred across to an Obstetrician and treated like a "normal" pregnant person (how odd) I couldn't believe that she was only going to do one at nineteen weeks....

Take good care, enjoy your pregnancy and keep us updated on your progress as it all happens

Deanne - how are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet? Whenever I get pregnant I will pee on a stick for sure (once I get a +ve blood test), as I have dreamed about getting the two lines for years!!!!!

MissMolly,
I was ASTOUNDED when I saw two lines..hence me keeping the stick in the drawer for the next several months (quite gross in retrospect), but such a shock!!!!..you will be gobsmacked as I was!

Hi Bel and Miss Molly, thanks for reassuring me that I'm not going mad! Like you guys, I did my share of home tests while ttc too. And as I actually have a kit from a year ago still in the cupboard I might as well put it to use!

So far my only symptoms are fatigue and a few visible veins on my boobs (although I'm brown-skinned so they're not really super-prominent). It'd be kinda nice to get something obvious like nausea soon so I'll actually FEEL pregnant (does the worrying ever end?!).

Did anyone else happen to see the show on Ch 10 last night about conception to birth? DH and I had gone out for dinner but managed to catch most of it. They had the most amazing pictures of scans - from the v.early days through to the end. Those new 4D ones they use later in pregnancy show so much detail. Bel, did you have one of those scans with Annie? It must be an awesome sight.

Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Cheers

Deanne,

I missed that program on tele, sounds like it was fabulous though!!..There are some great internet sites I found fascinating as well on embryo development (sorry I can't remember the names), I also loved "Up the Duff" by Kaz Cooke. Was my pregnancy bible and very funny, gave me enough information without worrying me silly (always a good thing!!).

We had a four-D scan with Ms Annie-Boo, was truly amazing. We have some fabulous photos that I still pull out and look at. We cried buckets at our big 19 week scan (where the 4-D was done), the level of detail is astounding. Looking back on those photos we can recognise our Annie in her facial features, so is incredibly accurate. You have LOTS to look forward to in your pregnancy; planning a nursery, feeling your baby move for the first time..then feeling him/her move all the time, choosing names, having people stand up for you on public transport and basically make a HUGE fuss of you..it's a beautiful time. I worried most of the way through, you won't be the first or the last to do this. I told myself I would relax after the first scan, then changed that to the 12 week scan, then the 19 weeker. I was worried lying on the table waiting for the caesar, I am a born worrier. My only advice is to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can, spend lots of time with DH and eat out lots and lots and lots (much harder to do this when bubby comes along!!)..

Wow - how amazing that you got your first glimpse of Annie's features so early. I'm not surprised you cried buckets - it must be such an awesome experience.

Thanks for the very sensible advice (as always). I'll do my best to relax as much as possible. I'm feeling so tired this morning and all I've done is drop DH to the station, eat breakfast and have a shower! It might have something to do with staying up too late watching the cricket - anybody else a fan? I'm also going to be tempted by Wimbledon which starts tonight.

Last month we asked our cleaner to come in once a week rather than fortnightly (mainly because of all the leaves and twigs being traipsed through the house by the puppy - his current favourite are the camelia buds that fall on the lawn). I'm just this morning realising what a marvellous decision that was!

I'm looking forward to getting back to work though - my brain's been turning to mush with too much telly watching. I'm just waiting for my next batch of work to arrive now.

Have a good day everyone,

Cheers

Deanne,

Great decision re. the cleaner, we have ours fortnightly, I got sooo tired when I was pregnant I was so grateful not to have to do housework..the first trimester seems just so exhausting, but you get your energy (and libido) back with the second!!

Johnie is a huge cricket fan, he comes to bed when I do then listens with his earphones to Jonathen Agnew on the ABC (Aggers????)..not my thing unfortunately!!

Take good care

Ahh, aren't headphones wonderful things. Both DH and I like the cricket so we've been falling asleep to it (says something about the sport, doesn't it).

I just spoke to our Dr's office and the receptionist re-affirmed what the clinic told me on Friday - that I need to book into a hospital for delivery in February 2006 NOW. I can't get over it, it's so early and we don't know yet what will happen, but the competition for beds is so fierce that you have to book as soon as you discover you're pregant. So I've just been on the phone to the 2 hospitals our Dr consults at and am teeing up visits now. They also said they're booking up for Feb very quickly. Is it like this everywhere else? We honestly hadn't given this side of things a single thought so this is all a bit rushed for me. Anyway, we can make a tentative booking now and confirm in 2 weeks, which gives us time to go and check them both out. Yikes. I'm still worrying about actually being and staying pregnant and I'm having to make a decision about delivery suites. How crazy.

Got another question for you guys - do you know how common it is for progesterone to be used after a +ve test? I asked the clinic if I'd be having it and they said no as my levels looked fine to them. But it looks like other clinics prescribe it as a matter of course. Any ideas? To be honest I'm quite glad to have finished with it, but stupidly do feel at a bit of a loss that I'm not taking anything now (apart from Folic acid of course). Ta.

Hi Deanne,
The whole "booking in" thing has gone mad...Our Obstetrician was actually already fullly committed for the November Annie was born in but took as I know her through the hospital I work in, and I booked at 6 weeks!!!..
Gotta run, we have people arriving for dinner. But wanted to say that my doctor doesn't suggest you continue with the Progesterone once you're levels are "OK" and all was fine with Annie-Boo!!!
Take care

Hi Deanne,

Sorry for the terribly rushed E-Mail above, my father in law and brother in law were arriving for dinner and literally had them looking over my shoulder at the computer!!!

The progesterone injection protocol seems to vary from clinic to clinic. My doctor felt very strongly that it wasn't needed once levels were fine, she felt very strongly that a developing embryo needed as little additional "stuff" once it was through the initial 2ww..But I know that some doctors feel differently..

Take good care, can't wait to hear about your scan

Hi there girls,

Thank you for your thoughts with Donna and DH. You're right, how can they tell without a scan.

She saw the doctor on Monday and had a scan also and blood tests with more scheduled during the week. (another scan in two weeks) She still has a BFP + + + - not ectopic. BUT the doctor was concerned because the baby was very small (against the size it should be by now). but at least she is pregnant and we know that it all works. :D

I notice that some of you have had e/m's - is this what has happened with you. :?:

Congratulations and lots of PMA to all the BFP's and sincere thoughts with those of you who have not been so lucky this time - but remember it can and will work out for you eventually.

I'm not sure which of you were camping at Skipton last weekend - hope you weren't too cold up that way. Sorry for somehow having you think we live in Ballarat (although a lovely city), but Donna lives in Melton, so the IVF clinic in Ballarat is more convenient for them than heading into Melbourne. I live in Tullamarine. I often wonder where exactly you all live. Queenslanders - do any of you live near Childers???

Have a great day,
Barbara and Donna

HI Barbara,

Donna really is on a rollercoaster isn't she???, sounds promising though, my doctor said "when there's life there's hope" and that held me through some diffiuclt times. With my early miscarriage the embryo was far far too small at my first scan (half the size it should have been) with a slow heartbeat. A scan three days later showed that the bubby had died and I had a D&C. There have been lots of women on this site though that have had too small embies that have gone on to be fine, so I guess it's a matter of more wait and see (doesn't get any easier does it??)

To answer your question, I live in Ipswich and work at the local hospital. Childers is about four hours north of here. Do you know someone there??

HiBel
We do know a couple of people in Childers and have been there twice. My son and his wife Jan are on their way there right at the moment (around Kingaroy as we type).

My son was a backpacker there in June 2000 when the Palace hostel was burned down and the 15 backpackers died. We were extremely lucky that he was one of the survivors.

I'm off to work now and running late.
