Question to those ladies who recently had +ve result

Post by wildfox »

Hi there

Of course, Congratulations to you all...

Just passing the time on my 2WW.... I was wondering on what day you transfered your embryos and the quality/cell numbers etc. Did any of yours have fragmentation. Here are my results:

1st IVF ...day 3 transfer..2 embies...Grade ?..4-cell and 5/6 cell (-VE)
2nd IVF ...day 2 transfer ..2 embies..Grade 1..4-cell, Grade 1/2 cell (+VE)
3rd IVF ...day 2 transfer..2 embies..Grade 2..4-cell, 2-cell +fragmentation

As you can see my 3rd IVF is not as good as my 2nd IVF. My clinic has excellent results and my consultant has assured my that 80% of embryos transferred are actually Grade 2 and people are getting pregnant, but my chances are reduced slightly 'cos of the fragmentation...but I think this is one of the reasons they are Grade 2, because the cell numbers are ok for day 2..the embies were less than 2 days old...

Hi Steph
I haven't had a recent positive mine was almost 3 years ago! I think I had a day 3 transfer but can't remember how many cells they were but they were average. I do know that in all my cycles I have had fragmented embryos including the positive one and I know have 2 beautiful twins! So you have every chance of getting a positive result.
I will cross my fingers for you and send you lots and send you a huge sprinkle of babydust!!!!!!!!!!

Steph:
Hello! I have had a recent +ve and I have very poor quality embryos. I didn't get my grades etc but here is the info I have. I had 27 eggs removed 22 of those were ICSI and 14 fertilized. My doctor suggests day 5 blastocyst transfer so that is what we did. Unfortunately, my egg/embryos didn’t progress well. Of the 14 only 2 became blastocyst and were very fragmented. We had only planned to transfer 2 embryos but after the way the eggs progressed my doctor suggested putting back 3. I had 1 other egg that was smaller and was not quite to a blastocyst but still an okay egg. So we transferred 3 and I didn't get any to freeze. We are lucky enough to be pregnant now with 1 baby, so just because your eggs were not the best does not mean it won't work. I did a lot of reading on this during my 2ww and found that you may have a better chance than we did because you transferred your eggs earlier. Sometimes an egg will progress better once it is put back than if it is in the dish. I hope that makes sense.
Best of luck!

Thanks for this thread, Steph. I sort of had the same thing on my mind.

It's good to read about how others had their successes. Sometimes we get too involved in grades, quality etc. (this has been worrrying me...)I was worried about fragmentation last time.

However, the more I read on this board the more I know it's impossible to predict what will work. So when I get my piccie of my transfered embies next week(ish) I wont worry about cells/frgamentation etc.

Hi Steph

I had 12 eggs. 6 for IVF fertilization (none fertilized). 6 for ICSI - got 4 embryos. 2 they transfered at 2 dy transfer were 3 cell but I wasnt told the grade (presume they may have mentioned if they were top grade though!) The other 2 they were going to observe and freeze if did ok - they didnt. Im now pregnant with 1.
Good luck!

Hi Kim

Congratulations...

Your post has really given me a boost. Do you remember if either of your embies had fragmentation? I seem obsessed with that now, as I never had it with my previous cycles.

Lumi...I am pleased this thread has helped you too, and hopefully many others...Good Luck next week!

Hi Steph

Sorry, I dont know if there was any fragmentation or not. There were so many things that happened during my treatment which I now look back on and want to ask loads of questions! I just didnt at the time. Im so much more clued up now on IVF (probably mostly due to this website) I now want to know why did that happen or what caused that etc.
Hope everything works out for you
Take care

Hi Steph,

I had a +ve in May 05. We ultimately transferred 2 8-cell on day 3. 1 took. We used ICSI on both embryos transferred. My RE had me on progesterone and aspirin (I'm 11 weeks now and have to stay on both for another 2 1/2 weeks).

I hope that helps!

T.J - can I just ask you how much aspirin you were advised to take? -My consultant has said he doesn't think it will help but if I really want to he'll let me take it but he didn't say how much. I just have a feeling about it and want to try it so I would really appreciate knowing how much you took per day and in what way - (i.e with food / without food - morniing / night etc -) Sorry to be nosey but that would really help me,

Hi Gail

I am at the Woking Nuffield. It has recently been published that it is now No.2 in the UK. I was successful there 2 years ago on my 2nd IVF and now on 2WW for a sibling for my DD.

Where are you at??

Steph -

My doctor put me on 81mg/day. He did not specify time of day, with/without food, etc. I always take it with my prenatal vitamin (so I can remember) with a light snack at night.

I did a little research on the aspirin with IVF and it looks like it can do nothing but good.

Good luck!

Really silly question, but how do you work out day 1 of your pregnancy - is it EC day?

Sorry, probably being a bit slow.

I am on 1 baby aspirin a day, 2 steroids and various other drugs. From all my knowledge about aspirin it is really helpful and certainly does no harm.

Hope you are all well.

Love and hugs

A very silly Little P

Hello Little P -

Day 1 is calculated from your EC date for the age of the baby. But the 40 weeks goes back to the first day of your last menstrual cycle. My doctor created the second date for me to use when going to my regular OB/GYN.

Hope you're doing well. You are sooo close to the big day!
