Girls

Just a quick one.......... as I have absolutely no time!!

I went for a check up on Wednesday and it turned out my B/P was huge 165/105 and my consultant kept me in!

Thursday morning it was still huge and he decided to induce me......

At 8.00pm on Thursday night I was induced with the prostin gel and was supposed to be checked next morning before starting the syntocinin drip........I was 2cm dilated by 12.45 so I went straight to labour ward and got my epidural.......

Our darling daughter, Indira Lily was born at 5.45 24th June 6lb 3oz and is the most special miracle ever!

I will try and keep an eye on you all.........its hard work but fab, life is now complete!!

Can't believe the result of an epic journey

Big hugs

Jenf, DH and Indira xx

Hi

I went to my husbands work bbq on Sunday (he works for the University) and one of the Dr's (non-medical) told me that she had been reading a research paper about IVF and it showed that IVF babies have a much higher IQ than non-IVF. eg Non-IVf IQ 100, IVF IQ 113.
Has anybody else heard of this?

Also how much weight are you supposed to put on throughout the whole pregnancy? I was weighed last week in BP clinic and had put on 2.4kg for the whole pregnancy -I was 36 weeks at that point. I know a lot of it is down to my lack of appetite and not sleeping but 'Stitch' weighs over 3kg so I have actually lost weight. Midwife said 'Stitch' is getting everything he needs -actual words were he is a greedy guzzler and my stomach is solid baby.

KIM -good luck with the c-section today, hopefully when you read this it will all be over and you will be holding your precious baby in your arms. Can't wait to hear your news!!

I have my section in 13 days -I made a chart and cross the days off each day, suddenly there aren't many boxes left!!!

Sophie -Had to laugh at your trolley story, I bet it was SO embarrassing. I bet you are glad you have finished work now.

Elizabeth -it is weird that we tested one day apart yet our due dates are so different. How are you enjoying your 'rest' bet it is good being able to put your feet up without worrying about work.

Toni -Hope those twins are giving you lots of rest, I don't think I would cope with the kicking of 2 babies -Stitch is bad enough!!!

Valli -Hope you are ok and that some of your fears are starting to soften. I feel apprehensive about the C-section but I have also been watching loads of baby programmes with them in it and every single one of them seemed like it was a lovely experience. I keep hearing the comment that it is like someone doing the washing up in your tummy.

John is counting the days until his 4 weeks off. The Dr he shares his office with said he could take 2 months as long as we let him have the baby for 1 of them!!! I think he is as excited about it as we are. They asked me on Sunday if they can visit us in hospital which is lovely. John said everybody keeps asking him when the baby will be here and it freaked him out a bit when he realised he will finish work in 8 working days.

John's mum finished the wallpapering last Friday, the nursery looks lovely -Winnie the pooh paper, curtains and bedding, pale yellow and white cupboards, baby blue carpet and a beige suede rocking type of chair from Ikea. It is my favorite room and I love sitting in the chair thinking about the rooms soon to be occupant.

I am getting so tired now. Still not sleeping but having to lay down and rest a lot now. Just wish I could have one night of sleep. John as ended up on the sofa for the last 2 nights but it isn't helping. I am frightened of how I will look after a new baby when I can't sleep, although the hospital have been great and offering me lots of support.

Well John is about to leave for work so I will go now. Look after those cargo's. Great news about Jen and her little girl, the first arrival of the group. Seems like yesterday SophieJ started the first trimester thread, and Elizabeth and I were too afraid to join!!!

Take care

Jackie

Jen,

Wonderful news to hear of the birth of your little girl-the first to give birth in our thread! Congratulations!!!!

SophieJ-Yes, my baby's head is 3/5's engaged as well, and the midwide said that some people have described the senstation as bone scraping against bone! Now that she has said that, the sensation is similiar to that as well, yuck! Don't like it at all...but glad baby is really getting ready now..I think tuesday was your last day at work? If so, feel great doesn't it?

Jackie-I feel the same way, we tested one day apart and yet I feel like I'm to give birth ages apart from you! Of course, my baby might shake things up a bit-arrive earlier, or god forbid later than DD..I'm getting impatient to meet him now. I haven't put on hardly any weight though I eat normally, just becsuse of my body type really, the baby is absolutely fine, though, as well. Glad to hear you are feeling quite relaxed about your c-section. I envy you and Kim and Valli (if she does have the c-section) a bit because your deliveries will be just that more certain, if that makes sense...with giving birth'naturally' there is just less control and that is what can make me feel kinda anxious. I'm working on this though, because I know the more relaxed I am, the better the labour/delivery will likely go.

Kim-So soon now..I'm beginning to feel alittle left behind everyone now! Will be thinking of you holding your little baby finally, you and Jen..can't wait to be as close as you are right now..

Toni-Are you having a c-section for your twins? Sorry if I've missed that..How are things going, are you feeling alright with this hot weather? I keep having this thought that you are probably already in hospital giving birth..could be possible I think at this point!

Valli-Like I mentioned, any word on whetehr or not you wil have c-section? Sounds like things are just fine, and that you are preparing for this eventuality nicely..

Have I missed anyone? I'm sure I have, pregnancy brain and vegging out since being released from work have put me in a permament near comatose state..fortunately, I have everything ready, including hospital bag, so no worries there..

Love and best wishe sto everyone,
Elizabeth

Kim,
Good luck with the C-section today. Eagerly waiting for your news.

Went to Doctors visit yesterday. Everything is fine. From now on I need to go to the Doctor twice in a week. I have to go for the scan tomorrow.

Jackie, Great news on IQs. The weight gain depends on your body type. I read somewhere that if you are a normal person then from 25lbs to 30lbs. If overweight 15lbs, if under weight 30 to 35lbs. And it also depends on the other health problems, like daibetes. Your weight gain of 2.4kgs, is it because of the BP. As long as the baby is gaining normally, we are ok. I gained 15lbs so far. Mine is kind of fluctuating.

Elizabeth, Don't worry with the normal delivery. Did you go to the Child Birth Classes? Try to practise all the breathing techniques and stay relaxed. Everything will go smoothly. For me doctor wants to continue with the C-section procedure as the baby is big(thou the baby's is in normal position). I am too concerned for the baby's weight now as she reached already 6lbs and I have to still go 5 more weeks. Doctor says baby may gain maximum 9lbs. But the way baby gained was 2lbs in 2weeks.

Love and hugs to everyone.
Valli.

Hello all,
My internet has been down since the storms last week. Wow Jen fantastic news. I cried when I read your post.
Kim - you must have had little one now as well. can't wait to read your news.

Toni - I'm wondering whether your twinnies have wanted to come early as you've been away from the board for a while.

Elizabeth - yes I have now left work. Yippee. It is so nice, but I do find it difficult doing nothing, I just feel so lazy. Glad Wimbledon is on. I can't get into Big Brother ... they all annoy me so much, so self-obsessed and nasty to each other.

Jackie - are you managing to get any sleep during the day at all? Can you believe that you are next to have your little baby. :D

Valli - sounds like the diabetes is under control. 9lb still isn't too big, so I'm sure babe is going to be fine.

Just like Elizabeth says I'm a bit jealous of you guys having ceasareans. I have asked my midwife for one but she's said no. I am so petrified something will go wrong at the birth. :( .

I've still got 4 weeks to go. I so hope baby is not going to be late, because even the thought of 4 more weeks is devastating. i am so uncomfortable, and now very impatient!!! You guys sound like you've really controlled your weight. I have put on over 2 1/2 stone. Feel enormous ..... the 3 ivf goes in one year also made me put on 1/2 stone, so I've got a lot of work to do after babe is born.
Oooo, Braxton Hick (or its baby stickingn her bum in the air!!)
Well off to watch Wimbledon.
Love Soph

Hi girls !!

Thomas arrived at 10.11am on 29th June, as planned, weighing in at 6lbs 11oz. He is soooo cute !!!

We arrived home at lunchtime today and are going to be inundated with visitors over the next couple of days so will catch up properly after that.

Would just like to say to any of you girls who are considering breastfeeding - if it seems like hard work to start off with just keep trying - it's an amazing and rewarding experience when you and your baby finally get it right. It's the most wonderful feeling enjoying that special closeness between you and your baby ( even if your nipples are sore as hell and look like coat pegs !! )

Loads of love

Will be in touch soon
