Hi Alette

I've been off all the IVF meds for about a week now- no more itchy patches & no more pessaries 3 times a day...freedom

Went back to the antenatal clinic for my BP test, which is now normal & actually heard the two heartbeats which was amazing & made me laugh.

Have booked my antenatal classes for September & have my little plastic card from the Government that confirms I'm pregnant & entitles to free prescriptions & dental treatment.

DH & I went shopping at the weekend for bona fide maternity clothes last Sunday & then spent all afternoon in the pub celebrating a friend's birthday (me on the soft drinks) We also told all our friends the news & once they got over the shock they we're all over the moon for us.

My boss has finally accepted the situation & has started to think about cover for me when I'm on maternity leave. I'm also arranging for our IT manager to come out to our house and 'network' the computer so that I can work from home one day a week.

It's all beginning to feel real now.

Hope you are all doing well.

Hi Girls,

Everything is fine this end too!

I'm 18 weeks now. Regularly listen to babes heart-beats with doppler. I'm still convinced it's two girls - h/b regularly over 140, and usually 150+. Will find out at my growth scan next week if it is just an old wives tale or if it really works!

Planning to start maternity leave from 29 weeks (September), but finding it a struggle already and will get GP to sign me off sick for a couple of weeks at the end of July, and will see how I feel then.

It's too hot!

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking on the first trimester thread for a while, but now I am over 12 wks I guess I cant stay there for ever!
There are a few more girls coming up to 12 wks, so I guess they will also transfer over soon and we can annoy(!) you more experienced ladies by asking your advice!
Im still awaiting my official 'booking in' appointment with the midwife.
I have spent the weekend looking around my 2 local hospitals, to try to decide where I want to go. (Im lucky enough to have a friend who is a midwife and also matron at one of the hospitals, so she organised this!) The hospitals are linked, and the same doctors work at both of them.
However, having a choice has now made it harder for me! Ive got to sit down and work out advantages and disadvantages now!
Hope you are all doing ok.Thanks Jude for 'inviting' me over.
Love Kim

Hello ladies! I am now officially in my 2nd trimester so I'm happy to say I will be joining you on the journey.

Everything has been going great for the last few weeks until today. This morning when I was getting ready for work, I had a dizzy spell and felt like I was going to throw up. I rested a few minutes and started to get ready again and it happened again even worse and everything went black. I laid on the cool tile floor for a while and then got up and I felt fine. That was 2 hours ago and I feel better but not 100%. Has anyone else had any experiences like this? Should I call my OB?

Hi ladies! Joining you with some of my friends from 1st trimester board- more will be coming, I am sure. I am 12w3d today.

Joy- Sounds like we almost have the exact same history with Clomid IUIs, 1st IVF failing, then 2nd IVF resulting in twins. I also have been in maternity clothes since week 10- now am starting to wonder what the not-so-distant future holds as I am starting to see that these may need to be upgrading soon... I hope your first trimester wasn't as yucky as mine with morning sickness. Both my twins also have heartrates over 160, so we could be looking at girls, but everyone scoffs at that theory when I ask. We shall see. I'll be looking for your results to see if we have confirmation.

Mil- Hi, friend! I came over after I saw your goodbye on first trimester, along with Kim's. Sounds like you had a scary experience. I would definitely call the OBs office as it could be a blood sugar or blood pressure thing. Most likely it is one of those pregnancy surprises that just happens sometimes, but this definitely warrants being checked out. Please keep us posted.

Kim- Hi! We made it out of first trimester- are you as relieved as I am?

Hello everyone!

So pleased to see you have both joined me, Mil and Julie!

Mil - I hope you feel better soon. I have heard of women fainting during pregnancy (?due to blood pressure\ blood sugar as Julie said). I guess its better to get checked out to be safe. Keep us posted.

Julie - Yes, I am relieved to be in the 2nd trimester! It still doesnt quite feel real though and I keep wondering if the baby is still there. (Although since the nausea in a morning became worse since the 11th week, I think it is reminding me it still is!)

Jude - The worrying doesnt ever stop does it?! I surpose you just have different things to worry about each trimester!

Take care everyone

hi all, just a quickie again from me as today is yet again a v dodgy day with regards to sickness! am so hoping things start to slacken off now. i want that glow everyone talks about!!

sounds like everyone is ok apart from the dizziness you mentioned Mil. that sounds awaful. it probably is worth a call just to get checked out and put your mind at rest. its great to reach this milestone isnt it? i am so grateful every day for this little wonder inside! next week i have my booking in appt and the midwife who phoned sounded gorgeous. she is coming to the house to do it which sounds lovely.

our house has gone under offer and we have agreed to move by mid september. at the moment we dont know where we are going as dh is still applying for jobs and our aim is somewhere in the south easyt of the country! i have booked into a london nhs hospital near us but where this baby will actually be born is a mystery at the moment! i also havent signed up for nct classes as we dont know where we shall be. what are other uk girls doing? nhs hospital classes or nct? friends talk really warmly of the friends they have made from nct but as we will more than likely be miles away it doesnt seem worth it..... all a bit tricky at the moment..

p.s sorry to the us girls to talk about something else that is uk based, but are any of you watching baby house on itv at lunchtime? lovely to see those new babies,b ut not leaving me feeling very confident at the moment!!

love to all and stay well.

Mil

It might be worthwhile checking out the dizziness/fainting problem.

I've had a couple of light dizzy spells either after I got up too quickly or after rushing around in hot/close weather but nothing as bad as you described.

It can be quite a common thing as your uterus expands it presses on your blood vessels & means your blood flow isn't as good as it normally would be.

It can also be due to blood sugar levels & blood pressure.

Just remember to take things slowly (especially in the hot weather) it takes bit of getting used to if, like me, you usually rush around during your lunch hour.

Take care.

Hello ladies! Julie glad you came over too. I am sure at lot of our other 1st trimester friends will be joining very soon.

Thanks everyone for your supportive words yesterday. I feel much better today. I talked to my OB yesterday and she told me not to get to worried because dizziness is common as long as it is not persistent. She told me it was more than likely low blood sugar or dehydration. I am guessing low blood sugar. Hopefully it won't happen again.

minnow:
I hope you feel better soon. It really sucks feeling sick. I am very happy most of my sickness is better. Besides the headaches and of course yesterday, I'm great. I'm sure you will feel better soon.

hi all,
how are you doing? the incredible weather here in the uk this week has left me exhausted and wanting to do very little, but it's so lovely to see the sun at last! sickness seems to be getting marginally better. at least i'm up and about now every day even if i still vomit in the mornings. this is a vast improvement on those whole weeks i feel like i've spent in bed!

booking in appt and 22 week scan are booked so i guess i can just get on with life and wait for that key lovely moment of feeling the fiorst movements - cant wait!!

has anyone come across any good review sites for all the baby equipment that they would recommend? there seems to be such a vast choice out there and with the really expensive items it would be a nightmare to make a big mistake. i know it's pretty early to even be thinking of these things, but it would be great to look at how much it's all going to cost!

hope you're all well and have a great weekend.

Hi everyone

Hope you are all ok. Im finding it hard coping with the hot weather. We dont have air conditioning at work, so just have some fans on all the time, which isnt ideal. Still having sleeping problems because of the heat. Maybe I would still have had problems if I wasnt pregnant, I dont know.
Ive got my booking in appointment with my midwife on monday. Im also signing up for NCT antenatal classes. Ive also decided on my hospital now as well, so thngs are moving!
Minnow - Glad your nausea\vomiting is becoming more bearable. My nausea is as regular as clockwork on a morning! As soon as ive had a shower and getting ready, it starts!! Its still not bad and occasionally getting it during the day if I havent eaten for a while. It will actually feel strange when I dont have it anymore!!
Not having the AF type pains as much, but occasionally have other sharp pains low down and also on both sides which feels like my ovaries!
Mil - Hope you are feeling better and not having dizzyness still.

Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend.
Take care
