I am in the process of IVF and I just got my husband's results back from his Second semen anaylsis. The first one was better then the second one. However, they said the shape showed 2% normal they said it needed to be 14%. The doctor suggested ICSI has anyone been through this and had a successful pregnacy though ICSI
Our issues were with me (high levels of NK cells), but we decided to go for an IVF/ICSI split to gain the best of both worlds.
Fertilisation was excellent and we went for a 5-day transfer and had 1 IVF blastocyst and 1 ICSI blastocyst transferred.
I tested positive on Monday of this week. Obviously it is still early days as we are only just over 4 weeks, but I wanted to give you some encouragement.
Thank you so much. What is NK CELLS? and what do you mean by 1 IVF blastocyst and 1 ICSI blastocyst transferred? What was the seperation? I thought it was just ICSI fertilized the egg and you get embi tranfered. They did one egg without iCSI and one with? Congradulations and good luck with everything?
NK cells are Natural Killers cells which we all have, only I have a higher level than normal and these can cause early m/c or no implantation when very good quality embryos are put back.
The blastocyst stage I referred to is when the embryo has developed for 5 days before transfer. The stages the embryo go through are 2-4 cell division, 5-8 cell division, Morula (Day 4) and Blastocyst (Day 5).
If you look to the left hand column of the board you will find a topic heading (under IVF and ICSI) called Blastocyst Transfer - there is a lot of information about this there that you might find helpful.
They were both Grade A excellent embryos that were transferred apparently.
I hope this helps a little - any questions just ask.
We had ICSI, our first treatment and got a positive. I am now 11 wks 4dys pregnant! We actually had half IVF and half ICSI (I had 12 eggs).
None of the IVF fertilised, 4 of the ICSI did, so im very glad ICSI is available. It does have a much better fertilisation rate than just IVF, so if you have problems with sperm, you are much more likely to get fertilisation.
Good luck!
