2 questions x

Post by Leanne »

Firstly congratulations to you all x

we have just had our 4th fail and feeling a bit disheartened at the moment. Can I ask ...

Did any of you have a few failed attempts then get treated for killer cells and get a +tive? What do you think about killer cells? ( I have read the bumf I just wanted to hear about personal experiences)

Do any of you think the Zita West book has helped you get a +tive?

Hope you are all well and have a happy healthy pregnancy xx

Hi Leanne,

Firstly I am sorry you have just had another failed attempt, it is so disheartening and I do know how you feel  .
I thought I would give you my history as it may help.
I had two full failed IVF attempts and one FET and was then tested for killer cells as I produced seemingly good embryos. My results came back borderline so for the next IVF and FET I took steroids to suppress my immune system. Both these still failed and to be honest i began to think it would never happen for me. We decided to try again and prior, and during treatment I followed Zitas book with regards to vits and diet and did exercise and basically got as fit and healthy as possible. I also had accupuncture with a lady locally who specialises in fertility and IVF. I asked my clinic to retest my NK cells prior to tmt also. This time although the count was raised the active cells were low( this was explained to me by my consultant as I had a large army but they didnt have many weapons!) so the decision was made not to take steroids this time. We also decided to go for a blastocyst transfer. We had an amazing result as out of 13 eggs, I had 10 embies, 8 of which made it to blast. I am currently pg with twins and have 6 frozen blasts!
I will never know if any one thing made the difference or a combination of all of them.
My advice to you would be to def get your cells tested, and as for Zita West, yes follow it if you can(mind you I ended up eating some strange things!) But I did feel very healthy! Also I would look into accupunture and see if you can find someone who has perhaps, like my lady, been to Zitas work shops etc and knows how to treat you with IVF.
I still find it hard to believe it has finally worked for me, and that I have been lucky enough to get twins.
Just dont give up honey, for some of us it takes a while longer than others thats all, but this is much the same for women getting pg naturally with no probs too!
Sending lots of love and luck your way.
Sue xxxx

Sue,

Thank you sooo much for the reply. I have heard about acpuncture but hate needles so always ruled it out. We are at the stage of trying anything now! We did egg sharing this time so I only had 6 eggs to work with, we tried for blastocyst but the consultant told us not to leave it any longer as we had 2 good embies that survived to be a grade A,7 and B6. We were delighted with this as only ever had 4b before. Everything went really smoothly and the consultant was really pleased. I have been told my womb is ok ( i have damaged tubes and tight cervix) so we had all our hearts into this go.
We are also about to move house so I will be finding another hospital, I have read somewhere before if it keeps failing try another hospital, so we will see if they have any different advice.
I will buy the zita west book now and see how we get on. We are def. not giving up!!!!

Congratulations on your twins - my brother has twin girls ( natural pregnancy) and they are adorable.

Thanks again, much love Leanne x

Hi leanne,
I have had 3 treatments. First two failed and third one positive, and I am currently 36 weeks pg.
The first go I did acupuncture. the second go i did acupuncture and steroids for Killer cells (I was borderline). Before the third go I had a consultation with Marilyn Glenville's practice (see her website - nutritionist for fertility). I went on a wheat free diet and took a whole range of vitamins and minerals. I didn't take steroids for the third go and also gave up on acupuncture (as basically I was seriously skint!)
I think it was the diet that did the trick, but I suppose we will never really know.
Good luck for your next treatment.
Best wishes
from Soph

Hi Leanne,

I too had 4 failed ivf's and 5 cryo's did not survive.

Unlike the others I did nothing special (no diet, no excercises, no vitamines) with my 5th ivf (I went to work after ET, sometimes drank wine, took bathes etc).

yet I got pregnant our final try (5th).

Personally I do not believe in doing something special but after reading some amazing stories .... there must be something good in those methods!

and if it doesn't harm you, why not give it a try???
after lots of IUI, 4 FETs and 5 IVF's
a babyboy!

Thanks for the reply Alette. It is amazing how different the hospitals are with their advice. I am sure like me by the 4th go you were wondering what you could do different. I know I didn't do anything wrong but if there is anything I could try I would give it a go. Wine sounds a good option at the moment lol x

Congratulations on the pregnancy x lets hope we will be 5th time lucky x
