Hi Crispoli ... Nice to hear you've had one ICSI success in 2003 .. That's great news ! Congrats !

In England the clinic will fertilise as many eggs as possible. If you are under 40 years old, only 2 embryos will be replaced. If there are more than 2 embryos created, and they have divided well, they will be frozen - so they are not wasted.

I don't have any info about the London Fertility Centre, except can see their 'live birth rate' results in the HFEA guide. Below 35 years old - 31% live birth rate with fresh cycles. Almost 23% for 35-37 year olds, with fresh cycles. 6.3% for 38-39 year olds. 10% for 40-42 year olds.

I hope you get a reply from the London Fer. Centre soon. Let us know.

Speaking personally, I’d use the live birth rate as a guide but you need to take certain elements into consideration.

Firstly, these figures published are for 2003 (in the HFEA guide). Ask your clinic for their most up to date figures. Check your age-group range carefully – figures vary there according to the age of patients treated. Some clinics ‘cherry pick’ ie they only take on women who have a good chance of success or won’t take older women – in order to boost their success rates. Ask the clinic’s policies on this.
