Good Wednesday morning to everyone!!

MissMolly, all day at the hospital today..... I hope they will treat you like a princess.... I really hope everything goes well. Tell them where to go if they start hurting you again hee hee, no, I am sure everything will be fine. And enjoy your accupuncture tomorrow!

Jo, 16th Feb!! maybe the 14th Feb???? :)

Bel babes, so confinement is nothing like what I thought it would be? thank heavens above for that, thought maybe they had a day where they locked you up in a hospital (in the basement?) and did things to you.

My hubby and I have decided against starting our treatment cycle this month (I am due AF this week, possibly today). We have decided to explore the possiblity of adjusting my EC and ET for the week my husband is in Melbourne..... his sample is here sleeping tight in a fozen tube but I think I would like to use fresh sample if that is all possible, and have my hubby beside me for when this happens (if we make it to that stage!!).....

Cheers,
Tiger

Hi Tiger,

Confinement is a fabulous term isn't it??, the thought of staying in bed for a week after having a baby sounds quite appealing to be honest..Let everyone else run around I say!!!..Sounds like a good idea re. waiting for hubby to be back..I always leaned heavily on Johnie during the cycle, felt more like "our thing" than just mine as well..
Take care

Hi!

Wow what a busy day we had!!! Had blood test - all perfect & FET booked for Saturday. Hemalologist has put me on clexane. Got to the IVF consultant & he decided to cancel the FET & start a new stimulated cycle. He felt that the chances of the embryo surviving the thaw was slim, so it would not be worth going through with it for nothing. DH & I feel pleased with this decision & had even discussed this option beforehand. A little disapointed that the FET has been cancelled. Will start pill when my AF arrives in a couple of weeks.

MissMolly,

Sounds like a great plan to me, you know you'll get some healthy fresh embies to rransfer without the stress of thaw survival or otherwise! When I was doing a FET cycle and the bloods detected a LH surge I always used to wonder whether if we had sex we could fall pregnant natually..It didn't happen of course (not that I know of, perhaps Annie wasn't one of the frozen embryo's??)..hmmmmm, food for thought!!!

Good luck for this cycle, I have everything crossed for you!

HI Tiger,
Melbourne is a great city, lots of fab shops (I lurve Chapel Street!!!!)
Miss Boo is not her normal happy self today. She has spots on her legs. I have just taken her to the doctor, apparently she has a virus and is contagious!!..It's not chicken pox or measles or anything too nasty, just a virus that will keep her miserable for three to five days....Poor little poppet, she just wants lots and lots of cuddles..

Hi all,

Well, another change of plans!!! I called our nurse this morning & told her that we were going to cancel the FET, because the Dr said the embie won't survive the thaw. She replied with "well that is only his opinion!" She felt that we had nothing to lose by having the transfer. If it thaws it thaws. She also asked if DH and I were happy with the decision - I said we were. When I got off the phone with her, DH & I thought about it & decided to go ahead with the tranfer. I rang her back & she was pleased with our decision. I will call her tomorrow afternoon to check if it has thawed.

I had my first acupuncture consultaion today. I didn't actually have any treatment, she just did the health assessment. I will have the first treatment tomorrow. She sounds really good & knows what she is talking about. She has 25 years experience with chinese medicine. I found it all very 'factual' rather than 'mystical' (if that makes any sense to anyone!!!). I am looking forward to getting started with it.

I will post tomorrow after I speak to the nurse. Fingers crossed!!!!

Hi

Missmolly - all the best, fingers crossed for a successful thaw for Saturday - and Deanne - enjoy your scan on Friday!!!!

Heather - no more needlesticks?

Tiger - we moved our dates around a little to fit in with things that we already had planned - just meant staying on the pill for another 10 days or so, which the hospital was fine with

We have booked into the Freemasons for the birth, it is near where we will be living at the time (moving in December) - but there have been reports in the media the past few days that the hospital might be sold. Called our Dr, she is on leave, the clinic said they have no information than what was on the news. We only got in there because we booked at 4.1 weeks (!!!!) - the other two hospitals that our Dr delivers at are already waitlisted for Feb, so hopefully it all sorts itself out.

Had a bloodtest on Tuesday to see if I already have immunity to slapped cheek, will find out either tomorrow or Monday, so fingers crossed.

Dinner time, so will away for now

Hi Ladies

Tiger, glad to hear that you and DH will be together for your treatment. I think it is so much easier when you have someone to share the experience with, well someone to offer sympathy and take care of you when you are feeling lousy!

MissMolly, good luck today. I hope your embie has thawed beautifully and that everything goes really well today. I can't believe how quickly that has come around. Sorry to hear that your echo didn't go so well. Are there other tests they can do instead? I would love for a doctor to tell me I was too skinny but I don't think that is going to happen in this lifetime!

Belinda, poor Annie, she has had a bit of a rough time of late. I hope she recovers quickly and isn't feeling too terrible. Give her a huge hug from me. Have you noticed another user on here with the nickname Annieb? I think of little Annie-boo everytime I see a post from her!

Josie, good luck with the test results. Like Belinda, I have never heard of slapped cheek. Sounds painful though! There is so much you need to be aware of when pregnant....I think you should buy some surgical masks to wear for the rest of your pregnancy or just lock yourself away from the world, have an eight month confinement!!

Deanne, how are you going? I hope the nausea isn't too crippling. Sounds like a good excuse not to cook for a long time!

Things are still moving along slowly here. No more needlestick injuries. For you ladies that work in the health care industry, is it ok to throw the used GonalF pens and unused needles in the bin? The clinic has given me this tiny (and rather odd) sharps bin that will barely fit all the used needles. The pens come with about 12 needles, of which I use 2 and I go through a pen every two days. I know we have strict laws surrounding the transport and disposal of used needles but I am not sure about unused needles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have a great Friday ladies

HI gals,
Poor little Annie Boo still has this dreadful rash over her legs, a slight temp and a really runny nose. She is taking Nurofen with her feeds which seems to take the edge off a tad. Johnie was supposed to go for drinks tonight with some colleagues, he has decided not to go (thank god!), yesterday I counted down the minutes until he was home.I really hope she gets better soon!!, in the mean time not a lot of computer time as she wants to be carried and cuddled pretty much all the time which is lovely but also really exhausting!!

MissMolly, when do you go back for more accupuncture??..Sounds like a great plan to see how the thawing goes, what do you have to lose I say??..

Deanne, good luck for your scan today!!..I have everything crossed for you, please let us know how it all went.

Josie, any more news re. your hospital??..I'd imagine even if it's sold that the obstetrics program would remain, it's a pretty goddam lucrative business the whole baby thang, would be one of the last things to go if the new owners were wanting to "streamline"!

Heather, glad that things have started with the injections etc and no more needlestick injuries!!..I have no idea re. the gonal-f pen disposal (I had only the needles and a really large sharps bin), I certainly threw the unused needles in the regular rubbish, not sure if this is the right thing to do. I know the hospital I work in has sharps bins etc in the toiilets on the hospital campus, might be another option for disposal?..I have noticed annieb on this site. Our IVF doctor told us that as endo is genetic there is a chance that Annie will have it later in life (something for me to keep an eye on), she seems to be getting a look in on the site a little earlier than I had imagined though I would have to say!!

Take care all
happy 8 month birthday to my gorgeous girl..

Hi everyone,

Miss Molly, I hope you get great news about your embie this afternoon and that the transfer tomorrow goes well (I've got a good feeling about this one).

Bel, sorry to hear Annie's in the wars - hope she starts to feel better real soon.

Best wishes and hi to everyone else too. Sorry I can't stay on long as I'm suffering from the flu badly and the computer's in the most freezing cold room in the house. I've been staying in bed pretty much all week and am just this morning starting to feel a bit human again. But I do have some good news - our scan this morning showed a 1 cm long little bub with a nice strong heartbeat. DH and I are happy and relieved! I'll keep praying hard of course.

Hopefully I'll get rid of this blasted flu soon. Combined with the nausea I can barely bring myself to eat anything and while I've got plenty of reserves ;) it's not exactly ideal!

Ah well, back to bed for me. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Take care,
Deanne

Goodmorning

I can't believe what happened in London last night! It is just horrific & so unsetting. I am praying that all of our friends posting from in and around London are safe and well (as well as their family and friends).

Heather - Because I will be taking clexane for this next cycle, I needed a much larger sharps bin than the one the clinic gave me. I contacted our local council & they give out & exchange sharps bins. I have not picked it up yet, but I hope its bigger than the one I already have. I also have to sign a stat dec to say that I am not using sharps for illegal purposes!!!! It would be worth calling your council. I don't think you should throw anything like that in the bin.

Deanne - your scan sounds fantastic :D :D . I hope you are feeling better. Where are you having your baby?

Josiemack - In regards to the Freemasons being sold, I would'nt worry too much. Im sure the hospital would have a duty of care to fulfil the needs of those already booked in.

Bel - you sound like me in so many ways. I LOVE chapel street too. I am also loving the shopping in the city. We have the GPO & QV building open in the city, which have some fantastic shops (I think I like them better than Chapel St!)

I am having acupuncture at 1340 today. I have to call the clinic regarding the thaw after 1400. At least the acupuncture will relax me prior to making the call!!!

Have a great day

Missmolly

Bad news  It didn't survive the thaw. I am really upset by this (more so than I anticipated). Now I guess I will just wait for AF to arrive & start all over again.
