Asprin -help prevent miscarriage??

Post by tshepher »

Hi Caz,
My consultant put me on aspirin after my first m/c, unfortunately it didn't stop my second (just over a year later) but it is a regularly recommended treatment. Aspirin thins the blood and so helps the circulation to the womb apparently.
I'm still taking it "just in case" !!!
Terri

[Edited by tshepher on 10-Dec-02 12:22]

Hi Caz,

I have been told that Asprin helps thicken the lining of the womb, maybe that is why it is suppose to help M/c. Just another fact!!!???

Savannah

Asprin -help prevent miscarriage??

Dear all,

It seems that some clinics routinely ask people to take aspirin. My friend recommended it to me after she'd had 3 miscarriages. When I asked the clinic if it was okay, they said that it may help the bloodflow to the uterus, but I'm not sure if there's any hard evidence in the literature.
I suppose it won't do you any harm, so 75mg a day is fine. I could only find soluble aspirin at 75mg, but I prefer tablets - has anyone else found them in the shops?

Alison P

Caz,

not sure if this will help....

Have just waited 4 months to see a Professor following 3 consecutive miscarriages and told NOT to take aspirin.

I suppose it really is individual at this stage but take medical advise. I also know that drugs like brufen can affect the linig of the womb and contribute to miscarriages!

Good luck whatever you decide

Eve
x

Asprin -help prevent miscarriage??

Post by Tracey D »

Caz,

Funnily enough I have put a posting about this on the 'Pregnant after treatment' site. My consultant has highly recommend I take it. This is my first pregnancy. I was rather concerned it may harm the baby but she has assured me it won't. As tsepher says it thins and purifies the blood. In response to Alison P about soluble aspirin I have dispersible aspirin from Boots and I swallow it. I checked with the chemist and he says that is fine to do.

Love

Tracey D
