HCG Levels - SIngeltons or Twins

Post by jamato253 »

Hey girls,

I am so happy to be here and I just had some questions of curiosity on varying HCG levels.....I have a day 5 transfer on June 26th....FOllowing I had my beta pregnancy blood test on July 6th which showed my HCG at 182 (I read average for singleton is 94) I went back as instructed on July 8th and it was up to 446 which I was told is great!!!! Anyone pregnant with twins that had similar numbers in the begininng??

Jamato,

I don't want to come off negative, but you really have to wait until your first scan to get your answer. HCG levels are good indicators that you are indeed pregnant, but the hi/low levels should be taken in stride. I had extremely high levels. At week 7 I had twins and at week 11 I have a singleton. My best advice is to hang in there and let the miracle begin.

This link will show you how widespread the hcg levels can actually be.

Hi Jamato

I've replied to you on the General Forum, basically saying the same as Sher - that it is only the scan that can predict the outcome.

Try to focus on being pregnant rather than on how many it might be - it is such an achievement to get this far, be proud and enjoy it. Let the scan be a wonderful surprise.

Congrats again - it's brilliant news.

Hi Jamato--
I am in the same boat: My first beta (10 days/3 day transfer) was 85, and the second was 293. I've been driving myself crazy trying to get any sort of confirmation that a jump like that could mean twins. I'm definitely thrilled to be where I'm at, but it's so tough not to let curiosity get the best of you! My ultrasound is on the 19th. More waiting! Does it ever end??? Sigh...

Shannon

I know it's difficult, but unfortunately the scan is really the only way of knowing.

My levels were really high to begin with and have kept going up and up at an alarming rate, but when I talked to the hospital they said there were no definitive levels for twins or singletons and the scan would be the only way of resolving that question.

I shall think of you on 19 - not long to go thankfully.

Here's to healthy pregnancies

Jamato,

The number is good indicator of pregancy. Once you know you are pregnant, first you are happy on the moon, then later you'll be anxious for every single day before the first scan. Can there be heart beat? can there be heart beat? My experience, as well as many postings on the board, is that if the blood test HCG level doubles in every 2 days, no matter what numbers are, you should be find, you are assured.

The first scan usually in 2 weeks. So lay back and relax, see if you can detect some weak movement inside you. I did feel something moving during my waiting period. Today I did my first scan, and it showed triplets.

Shannon,

Good luck with your first scan. Pray for you to get what you wishing for (twins?) As I''ve been doing, put your hand on your tummy, feel it and imagine it there, then it will be there.

Best best luck.
