Hi everybody

Just a quick message to say things are all go for Tuesday -help!!!! I have to eat a slice of toast on the day before I go into hospital to make sure all my meds work (I take 8 tablets first thing in the morning, so it is important to eat) so this means I don't have to go into hospital until 11am. I am glad about this as it will mean I can relax instead of panicing about being there for 7.45am.

Saw the anaethatist yesterday, he was really nice. Spent ages going through the aftercare pain relief, my medical history is complex so they need to make sure they get everything right. Also made a note about nighttime sedation while I'm in hospital.

Finished the nursery on Tuesday, also bought the Angelcare monitor, it looks like it is a good one and I think the matress bit will give us that extra bit of confidence.

I was thinking earlier this time next week our baby will be 3 days old -now that is a scary thought!!!

Hope Toni and the babies are ok, and everybody else of course. I will get John to check this site while I'm in hospital and tell me if there are any new arrivals.

Anyway, I will go now due at midwifes in 35 minutes so better start getting ready.

Hi jackie,
How exciting for you (and a bit nerve wracking I guess). It must eb a bit of a relief though knowing what day your baby will be born (12.07.05), and being able to prepare. How are you sleeping? I hope you manage to get some sleep before the birth.
I have had a terrible few days, because i keep on bleeding. They say its my cervix (that I have an erosion and sensitive cervix which is bleeding and its nothing to do with the baby), but it is still horrible. I am just so nervous the whole time, so scared that something will go wrong. I still have 3 weeks till due date, but I so hope she is early. I'm getting lots of Braxton Hicks and period pain like cramps.

Its a bit quiet on our thread at the moment. Hope Toni is well.
Hi to Jackie and Valli.
Off to be miserable on the couch.

Jackie-Good to hear from you! Excited to hear that you are nearly there now, it is all happening so quickly for some of us. you will do wonderfully, you sound as if you are in good hands.

Then there is SophieJ and myself, the au naturals! I tested closer to Jackie, in fact the day before, and here I am with still 21/2 weeks to go. I don't know if it will ease your mind at all SophieJ, because I can understand that any kind of bleeding is understandably upsetting to see, but I know that you know that it really is OK and that the baby is and will be just fine regardless. I too have been having period like cramps and braxton hicks aplenty. My midwife said today that it certainly wouldn't surprise her if I gave birth earlier than my due date because my uterus really is quite 'irritated' with alot of tenderness and tightness, thehn again, I might not. It can't be predicted, I guess, unless the waters break, or even with a show, it can be up to a week later! Like you I've had my share of worries and anxieties with the feeling that I wish I could be more in control of giving birth, worries that something will happen to the baby, etc.. I keep telling myself that the odds are really in our favor, to put my trust in some of these women who have been doing this delivery stuff for a long time and that ultimately we are in safe hands. Hope I've made you feel alittle bit better, not worse :)

With love to everyone and best wishes, especially Toni!

Hi girls

Just thought I'd grab a few precious seconds to catch up with you all. Thomas is in the front room with his dad - awake and having a look around him.

Sophie J - I know three weeks must feel like a life time, you poor thing, but just remember it doesn't seem that long ago when we were all just 20 weeks pregnant and waiting for those first kicks !! It must be miserable with all the bleeding but rest assured it's got nothing to do with the baby.

Elizabeth - Only 2 1/2 weeks until your due date. Your worries and anxieties must be completely diferent to the ones I suffered from. Whichever way you give birth it's a nerve wracking time in the last few weeks leading up to the event. However, these midwives certainly know what they're doing - which is to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during labour and that everything goes smoothly and safely - which of course it will.

Jackie - Crumbs !!!! Only a day and a 1/2 to go. You must be so excited !
It's good that you've been given all the information you need about your recovery plan after the c-section so you know what's going on. I think I've had excellant care during your pregnancy - you've been very lucky.

Valli - Hope you're holding up OK. I seem to remember you're booked in for July 5th - is that right ? Will be thinking of you in your final weeks of pregnancy.

Toni - Hope you're doing OK. Am thinking about you loads at the moment and can't wait to hear some news very soon.

Jen F - Hope you're having as much fun with your new arrival as I'm having with mine. He changes every day and is an absolute joy ( most of the time !! )

Would just like to say that the Angelcare sound and movement system is fantastic. Without it there is no way I would be able to relax enough to sleep. Thing is when I take Thomas out of his crib to feed him during the night I keep forgetting to turn the monitor off so the alarm goes off - still at least I know it works !!!

Loads of love to all - I'm counting down the days with you

Jackie,
Good Luck for you tomorrow. Prepared well for everything?
Sophie,
How are you feeling now? I know how horrible it is to see the bleeding and not to worry. But don't worry, everything will be alright.
Elizabeth,
As you said the delivery can't be predicted. Thou the cervix seems to be closed and the baby is high, still we may deliver tomorrow. Thats what my doctor told today after doing the internal. There were even some contractions in my non stress test. When I saw those on the chart, I was freaked out thinking I am still 35weeks, 4 more weeks to go for the delivery. But the Doctor said its normal, braxton hicks contractions.
Kim,
Its ok, when I read July 5th, I thought I wish I would have. Literally I am unable to do this last weeks waiting. Badly want to go to the delivery soon and want to to hold my baby.
I am too happy for you, that you are enjoying with Thomas. Its a wonderful thing too see them grow.
Jen,
Wow, Good for you. Attended a marriage already, after Indira Lily is born.
Toni,
How are you doing? Thinking of you and twins?
Love to everyone.
Valli.

Hi girls

Blimey where do I start??!!!

Congratulations to Jen and Kim on your new arrivals. I have just had a quick scan at the board now - I have so much to catch up on!!

Well you had it right girls, I was in hospital. at just 32 + 2 weeks i went into labour (bleeding and contractions) and was admitted to hospital. this was 23rd June - ages ago and I believe just before Jen gave birth? Maybe it was sympathy pains too!! Anyway - they manged to hold it off, but that being a thursday we all expected something to happen that weekend. I had the steroid injections, but as look would have it they had no room for thye babies in Special Care in leicester - so I was shipped off to Kettering, the nearest place with room. a few days later I came back to Leicester, when they had the cot space and was there for ages. i was miserable as hell, just wanted to be home but they wouldnt let me out, and everything went really calm until Tuesday the 5th at 5.45pm when i went into labour at just 34 wks..........

Thomas was born on Wednesday 6th July at 8.15am weighing 4lbs 14 ozs, and his sister Charlotte follwed just 11 mins later at 8.26am, weighing in at just 3lbs 14ozs. they are both soooo adorable, but then, im biased aren't i??

i only came home last night, but the twins are in Special Care still. it broke my heart to leave them last night, but i need my rest, as i am seriously iron deficient since the birth, worse than before!! My little darlings are doing fine, just not feeding very well, and its hard for me to breast feed as they are still so tiny! I really want them home with me but Im sensible enough to know they are in the best place for them right now.

Anyway i must go and get some sleep now - i hope you are all well, i will catch up properly soon - just wanted to let you know the news!

i have been thinking of you all and congratulations again to Kim and Jen. isn't it wonderful???!!!!! even more than i thought it would be.............

love and kisses

a very tired,

Toni xx

Oh Toni the twins are here !!!! I'm so so so happy for you and DH. :D

I can't imagine what a wrench it must have been to leave them at the hospital but you need to keep your strength up and as you say they are in the best place for them at the moment.

Thomas and Charlotte - excellent name for a boy( well I think so anyway !! ) and a lovely name for a girl.

Hope to hear the news that you are all home very soon.

Toni,

I'm so happy to hear that you and the twins are just fine! I can feel for you having to leave your twins, but as you say it is for the best and you can catch up on some sleep to prepare when they come home. I'm so excited for you and hubby!!! can't wait until they are home with you and DH..You sound so good considering what a bit of an ordeal it has been, well done, what a star you are..!

With love to you, DH, baby Thomas and Charolotte,

So good to hear from you Toni. And welcome to Thomas and Charlotte :D :D They are both good weights and from the sound of your post they seem to be doing well. You are likley to have them home before too long. How are you doing emotionally and physically. Its going to be a stress for a while going to the hospital each day so make sure you look after yourself too. You have chosen two beautiful names. What was labour and delivery like then?

Kim and Jen - so good to hear from you two as well and I am glad things are going well. I am sooooooo jealous that you are able to hold your precious bundles.

Jackie - you should have had your baby by now. Can't wait to hear your news but I'm sure it will be a few days yet before you let us know how it went.

Elizabeth and Valli - lets just hope the next couple of weeks go quickly for us. I have had no bleeeding for the past two days which is a relief. Off to see the midwife tomorrow. I am so uncomfortable (lower ligament / groin pain) and sleeping is hard at night but managing to catch up during the day. I am nesting big style (cleaned the fridge and windows today!! :) )
Hope you two are well.
