What kind chemical substances are harmful to early pregnancy

Post by HM »

Hi, ladies,

Summer is hitting up and I couldn't aviod occationally using bug spray in my home, but after that I regreted, and was afraid of being exposed to harmful chemical substances.

Also my husband hired contractors to do home addition and improvement, to prepare a beautiful home for the babies. The fresh paint smell makes me sick. I cover my face with a dust mask and try not to go near the renovation side of the house when I have to be home. But still I'm so concerned with the chemicals.

We also plan to pave our driveway after this, that will be in my 2nd trimester then. Should I stay far away of the asphalt paving? I'm thinking of going out during the day while paving, come back at night when the work is done. Another plan is to stay at friend's home for a couple of days, back when the odor is completely gone.

Has anyone have this kind knowedge on whether household and construction products have harmful chemicals which are bad to the baby? What's the best way to avoid them?

Thanks in advance?

Hi HM

I know what you mean. I would stay away from everything "chemical", some say even for cleaning go over to organic stuff. Check with your doctor about anti-insect sprays/creams and sun cream...

Thank you Big J,

I know now. I've been very careful on things I eat and do, but sometimes harmful substances you cannot avoid. I'm lucky that I live far from big cities; I can always graps fresh air if needed.

Thank you again.

I know it's a minefield out there with what you can & can't do, eat, drink etc etc.

I've found this website quite useful when books & using Google have produced nothing of any help.

Hope this helps.
