Hi
I am 27 and was diagnosed with endometriosis a few months ago after a laparoscopy.
I am relieved at finding an answer to my pain but now really worried about fertility. The doctor didn't explain things very well to me just saying that I have a degree of endometriosis on the left side, a deformed right tube but still have a certain degree of fill and spill!. We have been trying for a baby for just over a year with no luck. What will be the next step for us? I would really appeciate some advice.

I found a lot of useful information on the web to get me started. When we found out we had no sperm we decided to go for a private clinic since the national health service takes forever around here. I googled and googled until there was not pretty much else to google for, waited for the appointment and what the doctor had to say was pretty much what we had learned about.
At least you now know what's wrong and can actuallaly do sthing about it - it's so frustrating when you don't know what's wrong!

Anyway, my friend has Endo..... (cant spell) She's doing ivf, had 6 goes, 2 +ives but miscarried both
She's now on 7th go, after having both tubes taken out. I am waiting for a BFP from her very soon!

TTC 6yrs......Have jumped off the rollercoaster for now, too many BFN's and too much heartache, to keep going....Moving on to fulfil other dreams!!!

I just want to say hello and welcome Olivia, I also have Endo and I am now blessed with a lovely son Alex Mitchell who will be 15 months old tomorrow. I think maybe your next step if you have been trying over a year may be a drug called Clomid which will help release your eggs. I really do hope this works for you. Unfortunately I tried it for 6 months and it didn't work for me. We paid private and had our 1 attempt at ICSI and it worked and now we have our son.

endometriosis and infertility
Hi Olivia
I am an acupuncturist based in London and have recently completed a research project on 'acupuncture and the treatment of endometriosis associated with infertility'. Based on my findings, from a Western point of view, if you are diagosed with endometriosis and you want to conceive, the treatment options usually include a) surgery if the endometriosis is severe (eg. chocolate cysts and severe lesions) or b) IVF/ARP (possibly in combination with surgery) c) wait and see. The use of medical drugs such as danazol are usually only recommended where the endometriosis is accompanied with pain but research shows that medication is unlikely to assist with conception.
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view, the options are Chinese Herbs and/or Acupuncture. You can contact the British Acupuncture Council to find a qualified practitioner close to you as I see you do not reside in London.
Research shows that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can help resolve endometriosis lesions, reduce pain, and improve chances of conception. Whilst much of this research was secondary research (ie. from research journals, medical texts etc), I treated a patient with acupuncture who had received a Western diagnosis of primary infertility and peritoneal endometriosis (left) after a series of fertility tests. I treated her for three months and she became pregnant at the age of 33 after 12 months + of trying to conceive.
Whilst this single case is obvioulsy not representative of the entire population of women with endometriosis, my research and case study demonstrated that TCM is an option for women with gynaecological complaints. It can be used as an alternative to Western medicine or in support of Western medicine.

hi there i have the same condition and also have psoc , i am having an op next week , just posted a message about it , there are lots of things they can do before it gets as far as ivf so dont panic , i have been trying 2 years with no luck but fingers crossed that my op is a sucess . if not im not sure what my next step would be but ivf has not been mentioned yet .
