Draining of Cysts

Post by kagome »

I've just been to the IVF clinic and have found that my cyst is still there. They have given me the option of cancelling the treatment :( :( or alternatively have the cyst drained and the go ahead with the treatment :? :? . I really dont want to give up so I opted for draining the cyst :? . I'm just wondering if any of you girls done the same thing? And if it affected your ivf cycle?

Hi there,

I've never had a cyst drained but if I were in you shoes I'd do exactly the same.
Your already half way there and if they've given you the option then there's a good chance it won't affect your cycle.
Fingers crossed for you, hope everything turns out well.

Hi Kagome, I had a cyst drained prior to my first treatment. The Dr would have waited for it to go away naturally but he really wanted to get started with the treatment. I don't think it affected my cycle, the ovary that had the cyst is not as productive as the other but this could be due to other reasons....it is the ovary that produces a dominant follicle however so what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in size!

Good luck tomorrow, I am sure everything will be fine.

Best wishes
Heather

Hi Kagome
I have had this done several times during my treatment. I was never given the option of waiting for it to go away. It didn't affect my treatment at all. It as a very minor procudure rather like EC, with little or no pain.
When are you having it drained?

Hey Kagome:

I have/had a cyst (there to support my pregnancy...that ended at 6W5D) and the doctor put me on birth control pills (to reduce it) for 1 month. The nurse says my cyst may disappear as early as half way through the package of pills.
I'm due to start a cycle in about 10 days. I will go in for a scan on Wed. to make sure it has disappeared, then hopefully start IUI meds in another 2 to 3 days.

Good luck and I'm glad the doctor gave you a quick solution!!!

Had my Cyst drained this morning. Bloody painful it was too. I actually screamed the place down. Still bleeding a bit from it. Did you girls who had a cyst drained bleed a lot?

Sorry to hear that it hurt so much. I had a general anaesthetic when I had mine done so I didn't feel a thing. I was really sore for days afterwards but I also had a hysteroscopy done at the same time and most of the pain was associated with this procedure. I also had some bleeding for a few days. I hope you feel better soon.

Take care

hihi kagome, understandly you are going to be sore, i had one
removed and yes it was rather painful i was told to keep my
bottom still while she was doing the procedure which was difficult
when the needle went into the cyst, and yes i was rather sore afterwards
but just think its over and done with and now you can look forward
best of luck alison
