Nuchal Scan Advice Please.

I had my nuchal scan today and haven't stopped crying since.
My result for downs went from 1 in 556 to 1 in 1900 which is really good, so we were really pleased. The sonographer then told us that this result has only been achieved by such good blood results but the nuchal thickness was 2.8mm and should be 2.5mm max. She said although I probably dont have a baby with downs the thick nuchal could mean that the baby has a heart defect which can only be confirmed at a 20 week scan.
If anyone knows about nuchal thickness please help I cant stop crying and I'm so scared people will ask about my pg now in case I wont be for much longer.
Anyone? I only see a specialist on Wednesday but cant wait til then.

Hi Susie

Does your IVF clinic offer a counselling service so there is someone there that you can talk to before you see the specialist on Wednesday? We are having out test done in two weeks, so I don't have any practical advice based on experience - all the best.

Im so sorry you are having to go through all this worry. Im afraid I dont have any answers for you, except that because (as I understand it) the nuchal scan isnt classed as a diagnostic test, so doesnt this mean this may not be definate and it may all be ok? Im sorry I cant help apart from offer you my support and hope you know that we are all here for you to talk to. I hope the specialist can give you more answers. It does seem unfair that you and DH are left in the dark like this.

I do not know much about the nuchal scan, but I do hope that all goes well for you on Wednesday. I am sorry you have to go through this time of worry and concern.
