Hi all i did my test 4 days ago and it was +ve i went to my clinic and they have told me because the blue line was so intense and read so early theres a high chance it could be twins my belly has already swollen out a bit and people are noticing could this be another sign it could be twins? please any advice xxxx

Hi Carlac

I know sometimes that high HCG levels can indicate multiples (As some of the girls on here have found) but you wont know until your first scan. swollen tummy can also be due to drug side effects as well.
Are you booked in for your scan yet? Fingers crossed its twins if thats what you want!!

It's hard to tell by the color of the test strip. The blood test of hcg is best indicator. My hcg levels on day 15, 17 and 19 were more than double or triple of those average levels. My docotr perdicted that I would have triplets 2 weeks before the first scan. My first scan confirmed his concern.

Swellen tummy is also an good sign for multiples. I had it too.

thanks for replying to me its nice to know there are people who care on here and willing to give advice, i have my 6 week scan a week on tuesday my family are already saying that im showing because i have had a FET i only had one injection but i am on the pessaries for another 2 weeks . im praying so hard that nothing bad happens im taking my rest and eating healthier i know i proberly sound greedy but i hope its twins im so excited im still cant beliveve that im going to be a mom after all these years..

im now 26 and my partner is 30

HM- my test strip color was really light, too- I had to keep taking it to different light to even see anything. Even 2 days later it was still almost invisible. Then, just like you, REALLY high HCG that same day (only twins for me, though). By the way, if you are interested, I have a great journal article about HCG levels predicting 24 week outcome which I can dig up and send a link or the PDF file to you (and anyone else interested).

I really hope that you get the news you want, but unfortunately until you get that scan there's really no way of telling.

I, like HM, had very high beta levels that were tripling and doubling and at my scan discovered it was twins.

Keep everything crossed and stay positive.

hi all, i had my first scan and its twins i couldnt believe it i think im still in shock i cant seem to take it in. my due date is 23rd march 06 im already showing abit and feel really bloated , my clinic had already said they thought it was going to be twins im excited but still cant take it in. love and best wishes to you all

How do you feel now? I think the bloating tummy should be eased by now. Hope you feel well and enjoy the excitement. When do you go for the heartbeat check? That's the most exciting moment when you see the little blink and hear the drumbeat like heart beat. Take care and keep your faith strong; your babies are going to be strong ones too.

hi ya i had my 6 week scan tuesday saw the heart beat s it was so emotional for me and my partner , under my midwife now she said i have got to be under a consultant at the hospital . the only thing at the moment is that i cant keep nothing down not fluids nor food thought i was dehydrating yesturday as im suffering with bad heads too. any advice?

Carlac- I was convinced I was terminally ill because I was so sick with my twins! The thing that worked for me were Sea-Bands- I was really skeptical, but my husband put them on me (I couldn't even lift my head up) and I was functional within 2 minutes. They didn't make the nausea completely go away, but at least I could eat and drink and kind of do things.

HM- How are you feeling these days? How are the worries? I got mine under control a little, but still have my moments.

By the way, multiples mommies, I am getting so big so quickly that my doc recommended a back/tummy belt- it has made a night and day difference. I feel much better and don't have that constant pressure on my cervix, nor have I had back pain since getting it. I am only 15.5 weeks and already people are asking if it is any day now! The one I got is Loving Care (!) support for both back and stomach.
