Acupuncture and IVF/FET

I'd been considering using this pre-FET month to have some tmt, nothing too focused just to help the blood flow, relaxation etc. but having read all your posts I'm not sure at all. I've got my regular AFs back and want them to stay....hmmm. Not like me to dither (LOL!).

Debra ... My last AF was a real non event ... she'd said that the day after the acu session I'd come on with a real heavy flow, but it was literally 3 days of nothing. I hope I'll get rid of something this time ... em - thinking about packing it in really as don't feel any benefits from it.

I have had, so far, an excellent experience with acu...but I am also taking chinese herbs along with the tmt. AF has reversed itself though...used to start out very heavy and then taper off...this last cycle started out slow, one day heavy and now just spotting. It seems to be much healthier blood as well. Cramps have definitely subsided and PMS is virtually gone (except for 1 or 2 flip outs

). DH has noticed a huge difference as well...not so uptight and more relaxed.

Debra - maybe go talk to an acu doc and discuss your concerns (?).

Im definately going to carry on with accu for the moment, I feel that anything is worth a try

I suppose it must take a while for our bodies to adjust to it. Ive got my AF pains back have you Sandra

Debra - just came back from my acu doc...and mentioned that my AF was a little backwards this cycle...slow beginning then heavy last day. She said that acunpuncture can screw up your cycle...but will adjust over time.

Hi,

Annieb- once a month top ups were advised by my acupuncturist, something that i will look forward to.

Ellie- like you i had tried the reflexology due to high fsh, it was the reflexology which lowered my fsh to level 6 thus allowing me to cycle but I still only produced three eggs which did not fertislise. The acupuncture, i had been hoping would lower my fsh but when i tested it the level was 19, so i was obviously gutted. Am just trying to be healthy at the moment and get my mind together on things which is quite difficult

when it is here there and everywhere. I will still have the acupuncture as i do believe in it, it has helped with gynae pain that i have and it does relax me. Hence I sound like I need an appointment now!

Gail .. They started again this morning, and have been on and off all day. Off at the moment. It's kinda doing my head in now, and I feel like a bloated whale. I wish it'd just come early ..

Tracii - Well, I suppose it proves that SOMETHING is happening (even if it's not the SOMETHING I wanted / expected) !

Sandra - sounds like acu may not be your thing ...how about reflexology? On another note, have you found a clinic for your next go? We are staying with ours in Munich for three times (hoping and positively thinking we will not need 3 goes)...but then will look for a clinic in Vienna. The Austrians seem to be further ahead in IVF and not so conservative - I read recently the average success rates are 50+%! Also sex selection is allowed - but I don't care what the baby is. Here is looking to September!

Hi Traci ... Em ... Maybe you're right ... I think I may just give it up. The AF from hell started during the night last night - so I was up with vomitting and diarrheao most of the night. It hasn't been this bad for a while, so the acu's certainly not doing me any favours. No - I've never considered reflexology.... might read up on it. The GPs referred us to Care Manchester (just last week), so I'm not expecting to hear anything just yet. It turns out they have a Satelite clinic, where basic bloods etc can be carried out, and it's only about 30 mins away - so that'd be great !

50+% sounds incredible ! How on earth can they manage that ?!? It's really not long off Sep now. It'll be here before we know it, I promise !

Your having it rough at the moment, you poor thing.

Ive still got the pains on and off, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I just want AF to start and then the pains will start going away.

I have had reflexology its very very relaxing

Sandra - I am so sorry you are going through hell with AF...geez it doesn't sounds good at all. 30 minutes sounds great...it is such a pain going to get bloods which take a matter of minutes but you have to commute so far to get it done

. Ahhhh - the things we go through...but all worth it in the end

I am not sure how the Austrians do it...if we need to go to a clinic in Vienna I will look at it closer....right now I am feeling lots of PMA for September

Gail - I hope AF arrives and you don't suffer...and this will be the last time I wish AF arrives for you

In regards to acu...I bought a fantastic book on TCM and pregnancy...talks alot about IVF. It is called The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis....explains alot about what is going on in our bodies and how TCM assists in pregnancy. There is a small passage at the beginning which made me start crying (but a happy cry):

Gail - Hope AF's arrived by now, and the pains have gone. I'm definitely not happy because after all of that, it only last 2 days and hardly lost anything. I'm going to speak to acu lady about it this week and may call it quits.

Traci - that made me well up ... feeling a bit fragile today anyway, so doesn't take much !

Very very heavy - sorry TMI

At least I can now go for a blood test at clinic to see if down reg drugs have worked. Hope you can get your cycle sorted out Sandra, it may be worth trying reflexology I think you would probably enjoy it
