Hi Eve

Not one to be left out in the cold, it was one of my first questions after starting the treatment. We'd already been put on a low alcohol regime of 10 units a week which was hard enough. I spoke to the nurse who said she couldn't see any probs continuing it until the embies were slotted in place. I'd check the warnings on the drugs though, mine mentioned nothing about alcohol. I did however feel very dehydrated even after a couple of glasses of wine so take some water to bed with you.

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and good luck for the New Year.

Love Mandsxx

Hi Eve

Funny you should ask about the boose - I asked my nurse the other day if I'm allowed any. She said only one or 2 glasses with Xmas dinner! It's not much fun but do we really care? I'm sure we'd rather be getting pregnant than drunk hey?!!

Anyway, happy christmas - eats loads instead!

Luv Rachel X

Hi Eve
It was also one of my first questions!!!! I was told that it was really up to me, but not to go mad. If a couple of glasses of wine helped me relax then it was fine to drink and it might keep my stress levels down. I think you just have to see how you feel and go with that. I start down reg on Friday!!! It is my first attempt at IVF.
Good luck
Love Lisa

Hi

I don't know if you have read Dr Robert Winston's book on IVF but in that he actually recommends a glass or two of wine! If I have been out then I have had a glass of wine if I have wanted one. My consultant said one every now and then is not going to hurt.

Best of luck!
Sandra

Hi,

Both clinics I've been to didn't say anything about giving up, after all most people who get pregnant naturally do so when they're completely pissed!! I cut down before my ICSI cycles, but didn't stop altogether. However, I did drink very little following my ET and also gave up caffeine. Didn't do much good though as I've failed 3 times!!

Just drink what you feel comfortable with, but don't get too hung up about it and enjoy yourself at Christmas,

Hope it's a good one,

Alison P
